Update! New higher quality wireless charger added, brings the charge time to 10 hours and an update on battery life.. fully tested 3 full cycles, run time is right at 14 hours!!
Is there a way to Charge the Battery via the USB-C port in the Back of the Unit? I don`t want to install a Battery that Needs Charging via an Inductioncoil.
Do you think it's possible to tap the USB port that's there to charge the internal battery? I love this idea but not sure i love the wireless charging solution and would rather tap the plug if possible.....
Please put that tutorial out. This is an awesome mod. I really don't care for the LED signs. But this mod looks amazing and the system doesn't even look tampered with
I was expecting to criticize this mod but I can't. It's pretty darned cool. The Neogeo mini doesn't look all that playable as a stand-alone portable but "maybe" I don't know. Maybe practical, maybe not... but the work was very good as is the idea which can be applied to lots of things like SNES mini or eventually the N64 mini (something I very much hope for!). I just expect to see this mod + some sort of mini display module which can be attached or flipped on top from the bottom or something clever like that.
Great mod, it's way better than the work NeoGeo did with the entire console! It's clear they wanted to surf the wave of new the mini consoles and they did an awful one. It could be cheap but it doesn't mean it has to be ugly. Having such a beautiful arcade stick and console, why did they make this? And the interface, what a fail. Anyway I have to say you did a great work again
This is a very clean mod that shoulf of been in the handheld to begin with... i really feel you should give us all a tutorial, it would be a good learning experience i feel
Great work! If you're doing a lit marquee mod, how feasible would it be to relocate the charge indicator LEDs into the marquee itself? A glowing red marquee could be a better tell for a charge than an easily missed LED around the side.
I would change the "power on" LED on the front of the unit and add the charging and low battery instead of killing a controller port. I would use a mount for the 3 leds in an acrylic lead (maybe a clear 3d printed part), so you can keep the color blue when on and vary the color in low battery or charge state by mixing the colors of the lit led.
Still not a tutorial or anything??? You are one of the VERY few people that did an internal mod (and you did it for 2 minis if I understood correctly), and you have not made a tutorial? Even an unedited video of you modding this would be OK... It would be a great gift to the community and, I'm sure, would become a very popular video. Do you have any plan to revisit this console and make the tutorial?
Incredible work man! It's like you whipped this up as if it were your regular weekday fare - ~~IMPRESSIVE!!~~ (in Mortal Kombat speak). Please Oh Please do a tutorial if you can.
So I'll be perfectly honest, I'm pretty sure that I won't do it myself but I really would like to see the tutorial on how you did it so take your time making it. Thanks!
They should've built these with at least a usb rechargeable battery. As much as they cost, might as well pay $10-15 more to have a playable on the go mini arcade.
Nice mod, makes me want one of this mini bartop now 😊 ! Did you need to remove the LED from the powerboost, or you kept them with the ones in the USB plug ? Thanks
@@ETAPRIME love all your videos I was hoping if you had some extra time someday if you could do a tutorial on the mayflash Dolphin bar and the Wiimote for the Raspberry Pi for light gun games I have been looking all over the internet looking for a good tutorial and can't find one and you always make such great tutorials I'd love to see one from you thanks for all your hard work can't wait for your next videos
Would definitely like to see the tutorial. So does this modification disable the factory-installed power port? Or do you still have the option of plugging in and running it off the wall?
I would like to see a tutorial even if i know I'm not gonna buy one of this. By the way there's a way to build it with 8" monitor and sanwa buttons and joystick you need just to 3d print the components, I've seen a video but its in french i think it would be great if you do the the English version. The slt files are available for free.
Do not want destroy original collectible console to do this. But interesting. Prefer connect the neo geo into an external battery like xiaomi or other brand.
If someone can do this in their spare time with parts found on Amazon, you would think that a company with a past and reputation like SNK would have been able to afford to do this during manufacturing, unless it was really that much of an overisight to market a handheld console without a battery... Makes absolutely no sense to me.
8 hours playtime... ok, cool.... 17hours charge time... not cool. I know you didn't want to cut holes... but seems like you could have done something with one of the usb-c connectors similar to how you handled the power button.
Actually I was really low balling the run time. The battery is 10000 and the whole unit only draws 0.42 Amps using basic battery life calculation it comes out to 23 hours of run time. But batteries are all different and my power meter could be off by a bit. I’d say 14-15 hours is totally possible. I found a better wireless charger as adapter that should do a solid 1 amp charge so the battery won’t take as long to charge with those added.

ETA PRIME nice job! Where did you get the better charge coil?
Is there a way to Charge the Battery via the USB-C port in the Back of the Unit?
I don`t want to install a Battery that Needs Charging via an Inductioncoil.
I know our local 99 cent store has a wireless charger for 1.99 and it pushes 1A 5W out I have two of them and it charges my Iphone 8 great
It's bad when the consumer has to make a better design than the manufacturer.
Do you think it's possible to tap the USB port that's there to charge the internal battery? I love this idea but not sure i love the wireless charging solution and would rather tap the plug if possible.....

Considering the size, I thought it would be portable from the get-go.
I really like that you went the extra mile and made it capable of charging wireless!
This kid is best for on the go or any time. Great work as always. This is why I love your work.

That's a very tidy and useful mod. I would love to see a full walkthrough of your work on getting this up and running.
This is a very clean mod that shoulf of been in the handheld to begin with... i really feel you should give us all a tutorial, it would be a good learning experience i feel

I'm impressed. Congrats on getting one early. I bet you'll see a big boost in ur sub count when the US ver is out. Great job on this one.
Pretty damn slick! Once you add the lighting, you will have finished SNK's product for them.
That’s pretty cool. Better than me I just bought a small battery pack and Velcro it to the back works well just a little bigger in the back.
Would love to see the tutorial. Great work! Keep it up!
That’s great I really like the inclusion of qi charging very slick.
Wow Nice !!! Could wait for the full tutorial thank you so munch for your time and sharing !!

Great job man as always, yoi just made me want to get of these and di the same, really like to see it with the light up marquee, can't wait.
Count with those who would like to see the tutorial! Awesome work!

It's finally here. I've been waiting for this since you published the unboxing video. 🤩
This mod is awesome!!! I think a tutorial on this or on another light rpi based systeme would be awesome!
Dude! The only thing I could say is AMAZING!
Excited to see the lit marquee
Incredible work man! It's like you whipped this up as if it were your regular weekday fare - ~~IMPRESSIVE!!~~ (in Mortal Kombat speak). Please Oh Please do a tutorial if you can.
I would love some step by step tutorial
Rather than a long tutorial, just a wiring diagram would be pretty great.
So I'll be perfectly honest, I'm pretty sure that I won't do it myself but I really would like to see the tutorial on how you did it so take your time making it. Thanks!
Can you solder the wireless charger directly to the USB port so you can keep the USB port open ?
This is awesome, I would love to do this to mines !!
Dremel the ridges out from the bottom so that wireless charger sits a bit lower. The charging amps should go higher.
Very nice. Was there soldering involved?
Any idea how one can modify it to allow arcade sticks to be used?
Please make a tutorial! Just got the international version and would love to add a battery and wireless charging to it!
They should've built these with at least a usb rechargeable battery. As much as they cost, might as well pay $10-15 more to have a playable on the go mini arcade.
Wouldn't it be possible to just tap the USB c port and use that for charging the internal battery rather than the slower wireless charger?
Now that the international version of the NeoGeo Mini is available will you be making a tutorial of how to perform the battery mod?
Could you make a follow up video and talk about adding extra games, etc.
Great mod, now replace that wonky analogue stick with a digital one and we are all set about it.
Nice mod, makes me want one of this mini bartop now 😊 ! Did you need to remove the LED from the powerboost, or you kept them with the ones in the USB plug ?
Thanks
That is frickin awesome!
This is great, Can't wait for the tutorial and when they hack it to add more games. thanks ETA PRIME.
ETA did you get your waveshare game hat yet? First thing im doing to it is a baytery pack mod.
You're my hardware youtube guy on here. I admit this a lot.
Please make a tutorial. The light mod doesn’t concern me. Just the battery.
YES on that tutorial please! Thank you
That's amazing! Is there any update on adding more games?
May I know is that any tutorial about how to build internal battery mod of this neo geo mini? thx a lot
Cant wait for the tutorial. I have all 3 models and would love to do this!!Please Please Please
Heads up you can find these wireless chargers in Target dollar section as you walk into the store I bought them for my phone
NIce I looked at my local Five and Below but did not see them.
@@ETAPRIME love all your videos I was hoping if you had some extra time someday if you could do a tutorial on the mayflash Dolphin bar and the Wiimote for the Raspberry Pi for light gun games I have been looking all over the internet looking for a good tutorial and can't find one and you always make such great tutorials I'd love to see one from you thanks for all your hard work can't wait for your next videos
midknightmist ordering one now. I have been asked this in the past but always forget about it
Maybe you could use two wireless chargers stacked together and wired in parallel.
Would definitely like to see the tutorial. So does this modification disable the factory-installed power port? Or do you still have the option of plugging in and running it off the wall?
You can still use the usb type C port for power.
AngryBatVoice A full tutorial of the internals and marquee would be awesome! I hope he uses an led strip to change the marquee colors.
Do u help people if they have mods ideas but not a strong electronics background?
Plese, i want tutorial how to wireless bettery moding ... plz. i buyed all Parts for this mording..but i cant moding with only this infomation
International Version has different games list, so get both.
I would like to see a tutorial even if i know I'm not gonna buy one of this. Really Really nice work
Did you ever post the tutorial for this?
are you considering reviewing the new portable gaming console Game Hat Raspberry Pi ?
Yes, I’ll have one tomorrow and hopefully have a video up on Friday
awesome, thank you for your quick reply 😃

Have you considered putting in a raspberry Pi?
I am voting for a tutorial!!! Yes!

It should've been like this from the start
Very cool! Tutorial please!
Tutorial please, and list of pieces needed :)
hi i have an idea if ur up for it, try to make an hand held console with the ODROID-XU4.
Knocked it out of the park!
Has this thing been hacked yet?
Do not want destroy original collectible console to do this. But interesting. Prefer connect the neo geo into an external battery like xiaomi or other brand.
Don't think of destroying it, think of giving it a well-needed upgrade.
The battery can hold 10,000mAh but can't output all of it.
He never did a tutorial huh bummer...
ETA PRIME Please Please put that tutorial out even if you have to cut it in to more than one part I like to see it.
Awesome

17 hour charge time...yikes!
I have pretty much the same wireless charger, i think its 3a or 5a, cost me $8 in the cheap Asian shops
We can buy wireless chargers here from the shops like JB Hi-Fi and they are name brand, $15 for 8a wireless charger or $6-$8 in the asian bargain stores for the cheapy like yours
Try one made in USA and let me know how it is.
very cool
I’d love to see a tutorial😃
whaaa....wireless charging? :D:D:D
Ugly plastic mini bartop with limitations, i made one mini bartop arcade with wood, tablet, retroarch and arc browser frontend much better.
First..lol
Looks so lame, the console itself I mean
Soooooo, people are modding this to be more like the NeoGeo X but only way way worse. 🙄
Great job neck beards.
