This is the last bit of old Singapore which in my opinion the govt of Singapore should preserve this kampong and its jungle surroundings. It is easy to tear down and build high rise flats but diificult to rebuild one like this as the trees and budhes takes years to mature. For posterity it is worth it.
As a malaysian i feel sad that in wake of dev the last tract of kampong land will disappear. They should keep a few kampong houses and install utility for those houses and build lowrise townhouses under private developers and design to blend in with the few real kampong houses and compensation to folks by putting them into hdbThose few remaining can be touristy and historical at same time to let the world know that after independence singapore went from rural to developed nation without compromising kampong land.Wishful thinking of course
if you ask city dwellers , i think three quarters would love to live in a kampong type environment for a change...those who have experienced growing up in a kampong and then living in the city...well, theyre fortunate to have experienced both worlds...
Preserving a village the size of 3 football field can't do any harm. It won't bankrupt our economy or halt our mobility to work . If we can preserved our colonial building, pre-war shop houses only to serve as pubs, hotels , restaurants etc. Why can't we preserve our heritage, our values, our living and breathing museum.
Kenapa harus dirobohkn...biarkn lh utk dijadikn kenangan atau sejarah utk anak cucu kemudian hari...sedih melihat video ini, harap MP singapore berbuka hati utk mengekalkn kampung buang kok yg terakhir disingapura
negara pulau, tanah tak cukup, jadi kerajaan nak bina rumah pangsa@flat sebagai ganti kampong tu....lepas tu orang kampong menginap di flat yang baru....wow, menyeronokkan tinggal di rumah tinggi, nampak laut dikeliling....
bangga menjadi orang singapura, hakikatnya orang singapura tetap datang malaysia kerana singapura tiada apa-apa yang menarik...itu sebab rakyat singapura jangan berlagak, sebab korang kena bergantung dengan malaysia juga....
Apa pun Singapore sebahagian dari malaysia, saya pakcik ,sepupu, tok saudara asai usul Singapore sana...pak cik aku pun dah beli 2 buah rumah di Peneng, kami keterunan Syed Aljunid Singapore, tpi pertalian tak putus...masih berhubung...tngok video ni sedih,Klau dia btui2 orang Singapore....
keeping kampong in singapore is a good idea. what i meant was instead of palau ubin which is part of singapore but not in singapore. isn't good enough. the only surviving kampong in singapore is buangkok. its good that they survive so they will let us remember the past life of our parent and grandparent living. now singapore only care about going into the future and following other country movement. this is real bored.
Once you demolish the kampong you lost your heritage. We have many kampong that could have been kept and only upgraded its power and sanitation system.Look at Europe and that Mediterranean and middle east their buildings are hundreds years old that distinguish themselves and their heritage and history. Not everything modern is nice.Even our islands are not spared.

Seandainya bs berkumpul kembali dg orang melayu di indonesia,,, satu rumpun kembali🙂
negara pulau, tanah tak cukup, jadi kerajaan nak bina rumah pangsa@flat sebagai ganti kampong tu....lepas tu orang kampong menginap di flat yang baru....wow, menyeronokkan tinggal di rumah tinggi, nampak laut dikeliling....

Excellent work but unbelievably sad. All our culture and history will soon be relegated to museum display cabinets.
Seandainya bisa di pindahkan ke Indonesia, pasti lah ramai Melayu di Indonesia, sedih lihat tayangan ini, mereka yg menjaga tradisi keluarga kampong
Jln masih tanah kuning lgi
SEDIHNYA NASIB MELAYU SPORE !!!

Kampung Buangkok patut gantikan rumah kayu dgn banglo atau rumah batu...
Melayu singapura lg kaya dr melayu malaysia tp masih lg rumah kayu
X payah bangga maju klau agama jauh mundur. Dunia lebih penting dri Akhirat!!!! Hmmm.....
