I've lived in Vernon since I was six, and the Okanagan has the hugest housing crisis that I have ever seen. There is no place to live. No houses to buy or rent. Most of the properties are airbnb, or their prices are too high for a single family. The only reason why I have a family doctor is because I got one when I was six. In the summertime we are surrounded by fires. In the winter the city struggles to keep up with the amount of snow. And just like everywhere, most jobs refuse to pay livable wages. We have a severe homelessness problem. I could go on, don't move here.
Next to no medical here, 1 walking clinic, 1 urgent care clinic and 1 hospital for a town of 40.000. There are long wait times and about a 2 year wait to get a family doctor.
Community? There is zero community and it's difficult to make friends. Rentals are crazy homes are expensive and outdated! They're is no style and no culture. It may be beautiful but it's hard to make connections and have any community.
i live in the Armstrong/Vernon area and medical doctor is almost impossible to get, i was luck to get into the system 10 years ago so I have medical help. 1 medical clinic is closing at the superstore on Anderson way in Vernon and there is not many left after that. There is one large hospital, wait time is between 2 to 6 hours most times ive gone at emerge
I am planning to move vernon with family plz guide me is this the safe place to live or what about cost of living also I am Muslim is there any halal food options available plz advise as necessary.

Lots of homeless in town. Overpriced real estate rentals are ridiculous.
Don't move to the |Okanagan. We have too many people, and not enough places to live.
I live in Vernon, rentals are overpriced! Lots of homeless and addiction, food is expensive. Everything is just expensive 😂
Try squamish. My cousins are sharing a 1 bedroom for 2100$ a month. and gas is at 1.99...
Vancouver worse lol

Beautiful place. However, there is a real lack of good restaurants. Hopefully it will improve.
