I love how the dead people still talk when their dead while the spy looks like them. Lewis talking at the end in his Zylus voice since he was dead and Zylus was the spy made me laugh out loud 🤣
That's actually really fun. First comment idea I think would actually add to the game. Just an item that says TTT lines from the person you are disguised as. A lot of work tho, but they did the pack-a-punch so maybe is possible. I think the more stunted and awkward the better
I suggested that some time ago for another traitor item. Think it would hilarious but probably too unfeasible to implement though. You'd probably need at least 6 responses from every player, multiply that by at least 15 regular/semi regular crew. You'd ideally want at least one response to be - "Player X is shooting me", or "It's player X, it's player X", and again, with 15+ players to choose from, that's a lot of work. That and Yogscast team would probably forget about it after a week just like half the other items on the buy menu.
I think Rythian's read on the Beggar update is pretty accurate, the new Beggar probably just creates more problems. Since the Traitor team is the "fun" team, there's no reason for Beggars to not just end up on the Traitor team cause they have more interesting items, plus they can get an even bigger advantage by getting an item from an Innocent role first and then swapping again. The Scout seems like a decent addition, kinda like an Innocent Informant. Though the information it gives isn't super useful against roles like the Summoner, though as Lewis pointed out it does confirm what Traitor roles aren't currently in the game which is useful for Paramedics or Mad Scientists. A potential improvement to the Scout could be to get a list of all roles currently in the game, but not which players they are. Something like that with like a minute long cooldown could be interesting.
Looking at that studio, I can't believe how far they've come. I remember the Yogscast taking place at their house and Simon yelling at the dishwasher. Sometimes I miss those days.
Yeah, I'm with Rythian. The new Beggar is dog water. The detective has NO incentive to turn them, since they can go off and get turned again in secret. And if he's already bad, then trying to turn them good is just an unnecessary risk. Maybe they accept the item or maybe they just kill you. And even if you DO turn the bad beggar good, he can be turned bad again - there are more traitors than detectives. Maybe if you have the betrayal be announced, then it could be good. It would be an incentive for the Beggar to stick with the team he first changed to... but he has the option to change teams if things are looking rough.
Yeah, that's my belief too. The new beggar might as well be a traitor. Saying "I'm a beggar" is basically the same as "I'm a traitor" because by the end of the round, they will be. Thus, there is no reason to not just shoot the new beggar in the face.
needs to be locked to a team, for sure. Maybe only give him a set number of team swaps, perhaps a randomized amount. Or a timer. A timer could work decently well id imagine. A couple mins of being on the team that gave you an item, unless you die as that team.
If you are a beggar that's turned good by the detective at the start of a round (like happens often) and the traitor tries to get you on side, you can just kill them instead though? Then, you have guaranteed got a traitor out immediately. The main issue is the way they are playing the role, once you become innocent you should really try to be an innocent unless the odds are looking better for the traitors. It definitely isn't true that the detective has no incentive to turn them - you can either turn the beggar innocent and hope they stay on side, or not do anything and they will definitely either: do nothing, or turn to a traitor at some point.
@@TheMirksta That wouldn't work either: Detective swaps the Swapper, Traitor entices them to come over for an item, Swapper kills Traitor, Swapper accidentally picks up Traitor item, hilarity ensues, but it's not ideal to join a 3-man team after just turning it back into a 2-man. It's absolutely true the detective has no incentive: since they can't be sure of who's a beggar in the first place, and of course who's a traitor, they can't as easily go out handing over items to a potential traitor (or even a confirmed traitor who's claiming he wants to join your team). And between two traitors and one such traitor being potentially the Summoner (who can get a ton of items), it's more easily possible to make an innocent that then becomes a 3-man traitor with an item than to just hope they're gonna abide by the side of good (they're incentivized to keep beggaring as much as possible after all, just for role immersion).
I see where you're coming from, but I think this train of thought makes sense when looking at the Beggar in isolation, but there are other pink roles. Lewis had a great play as the Swapper claiming to be beggar where he got 3 items and was only foiled by Zylus being the informant and calling him out (maybe Scout should be expanded to include Jester roles to make this sort of thing happen more?). If a player approaches a detective claiming Beggar then the detective can make a gamble to A) give them an item or B) kill them. With option A they could be giving away a detective item to literally any kind of role in the game, with option B they could be killing a pink role that wants to be killed. Alternatively you can do nothing when a player claims Beggar and just have suspicion on them for the rest of the round. I think once they play a bit more with it they'll learn how it interacts well within their game, though it might interact better with a different set of roles than the one used in the video. I can totally see the more chaotic players in the group claiming beggar as a vanilla innocent or traitor to bum an item off of the detective and if there is a real beggar in the game then this could easily make some entertaining situations. (As an aside I think a Randomat gamemode where there is 1 Traitor and 1 Detective, both with infinite credits, and the rest of the players are Beggars would be hilarious. The two 'team captains' trying to win over the army of Beggars to their side with promises of loot as they spit out as many items as possible trying to win them to their side. Would be insane and chaotic to the extreme with the Beggars switching teams with every item they pick up, maybe make them only allowed to use shop items? Obviously not very serious gameplay, but a quick round for a laugh like some of the other Randomat modes)
I think with the beggar change the game should just tell you when a beggar gets an Item. Not if it was from a good or bad team or not. So you can keep an eye out for when a good beggar gets an item.
@@PanSpaceman I mean it could just be an announcement for the traitors and/or the scout. Then make it so any pink roll who picks up an item gets the announcement. That way even the traitors could become Suss of a swapper that they think could of joined the innocent team.

It works for him since his sole focus seems to be on winning the round instead of creating entertainment value. Letting the beggar try and bargain is not the smartest route but it can lead to interesting scenarios. I think he's been RDMed one too many times in the past and now sweats a bit to stay alive during these rounds. He's lost the plot

I think a way to make the constant swapping sides potential a bit more fun, would be have a cool down between changing sides. Be a flat say 20/30 seconds, or a variable 20-45 seconds that at most only the beggar could see, could be fun. Means they could potentially beg items off their opposing team to change, while just depleting them. And since it sounds like the beggar just had a giant target on their head right off the get go, would add some way for them to sort of protect themselves by depleting resources.
Or it takes more items / more expensive items each time, making it possible but not easy to switch a Beggar. First switch is 1 cred, second is 2-3 creds worth (multiple items or a single more expensive item), etc. I like the cooldown more, makes it less predictable while still making it possible for the Beggar to switch roles and adds more depth to a kind of shallow role.
A cooldown would be nice, because as it is, an innocent beggar has no real reason to help the innocents win unless they know the traitors are about to lose. Otherwise they want to find the traitors and get a second item and switch again. So they are effectively a turncoat with extra steps.
it seem like there little benefit in giving the beggar an item since they can be turn so easily. maybe add a cost to killing the beggar like if the beggar is on the killer team when they die, it act like a swapper. but if the beggar have not yet received an item they respawn on the opposite team of the killer. you could also add a rule where giving an item to the beggar increase your karma.
I think this is an interesting idea for the bagger, it is bad idea. Because it doesn't solve the main issue of what the point of it is. Honestly, just a upgrade for the traitors. Either it is someone you don't need to kill, someone you already would kill, or an ally. Now it being wishy washy role that bounces teams; just means... Kill it. Yes, RDM karam hit. But... It removes a later on betrayal. OR if you still have credits. You can buy them out and win; regardless of the team you are on; assuming you can buy. Bagger I thought was always cute idea. The fact is... it is kinda not useful now.
Yeah, the new beggar functions identically to a traitor. You pretend to be innocent until such time as you want to kill people to win the game. The only difference is that the beggar has some legitimacy when pretending to be innocent. But realistically, saying "I'm the beggar" is as poor a decision as saying "I'm the traitor" with this new role change. Innocents have 0 reason to keep you alive.
especially since how they play new beggar is 'im innocent now but traitors give me a toy' meaning you have a useless innocent not killing traitors but instead telling traitors 'let me join your team', its useless for detectives or innocents to give beggars anything
the spy role play was my reddit suggestion, I'm so happy they considered it. watching for 16 years I influenced the yogscast 😂 (but tbh would be more entertaining in the long run if they didn't do it with an obvious accent but actually tried to hide it)
You could buff scout in a couple ways. I think if they got to know if there's a pink or brown role, that would be more valuable than just the special traitor. You could also allow the scout to check body's for roles, but no shop like detective. And maybe, in a little TF2 reference, make the scout like 5% faster.
If the beggar gets team killed he should respawn as the enemy team. There was a jester patch where i believe this was how it functioned also. A message like "the beggar has changed teams" similar to the turncoats "a turncoat has changed teams" would be better than a message that says "a beggar has joined the X team" Keep the "X has killed the beggar" message but make the body not show team, that way if a team kill happens, the beggar will respawn and can be sneaky and silent.
New Beggar is just wearing a "Kick Me" sign the whole time. As soon as they change over and are confirmed beggar, it becomes everyone's best interest to kill them, same team or not
Yes, Nilesy! People who get killed by the spy getting to talk as if they were still alive is a great idea, glad to see you talk about it! Maybe it could even become a more integrated part of the role? Some sort of item the spy has that they use on corpses (a la soul mage or ghost whisperer) that changes the dead player's role. Maybe it also destroys the corpse or that's what lets the spy disguise themself
Once again hearing "trouble in *TOURIST* town" and imagining what a Tourist role would do. Immediate idea is a neural role with an independent win condition, to take pictures of a specific set of props randomly chosen from the map. If they get all the required images, they unlock "the giftshop" and a handful of credits. Mostly gag and gimmick items.
You can fix the Beggar role with a simple change, add a time limit to the role swap let's say 90 seconds after the first swap before it becomes permanent. With this the both teams have a chanse to win them over both openly or sneakly within that timeframe and the beggar doesnt just become a permanent liability as it is now.
I did not realize that the spy and death note work in that fashion. I was very confused when 'Ravs' typed in Kirsty's name, and she did actaully get death noted.
The new beggar honestly is an interesting idea. I think what could be an interesting change is to tie it to the glitch and renegade roles. Beggar > Innocent > traitor is an innocent pretending to be a traitor. The traitors know who is among them, but not that they are secretly good. Beggar > traitor > Innocent is a traitor going rogue against their own team. Both would get a "normal" traitor icon above their head, but only the original beggar would know which team to win with
I'm already signed up to partcipate for the jingle jam this year. I did it last year too. This time I'm trying my hand out on making a team! Trying to gather people is being a rather big nightmare however and not many people I even asked said yes but I'm still gonna try my best.
Lewis on the ad: We have a very good collection of games this year. Lewis on Triforce podcast: No one will take my calls, and I'm banned from all the discords because people think I'm a bot.
I think the Beggar's change should be announced, but 30s after the switch (maybe 15? Whatever it is for the arsonist) that way its not instant but they need to act or hide quickly
I think it'd be cool if y'all had a special once-in-a-while Chaos pack. all the most insane randomats and OP roles. have concentrated chaos and just inflict psychic damage on everyone.
the NEW *Beggar* really really needs to be turned into a loot goblin if it gets more then 2 items from detective/traitors ... either that or into a jester roll :P
well if they are listening to the community i suggest a change to the glitch role. When inspected, the glitch's body should appear as a traitor, that way traitors do not know if they killed their traitor buddy or not, and innocents do not know if a glitch claim was leggit. that way a glitch has an easier time pretending to be a traitor, and it also fits the theme of the glitch
I don't know why, but OpenTTD is the jingle jam stream I always look forward to Isn't that where the fan made banger song "Get fucked up" came from? Or was that an old civ stream?
I was really hoping this year they would have gone to something different than Tiltify, I love the jingle jam but not tiltify. had 20 keys disappear because of their email character limit and apparently it was my fault
When certain good roles die, the get to possess the bodies of their killer. It would be cool to see a traitor role that did something similar. Perhaps they have to ragdoll and leave their own body exposed to the innocents in order to use this power. Think of the chaos.. your innocent buddy suddenly fires, everyone turns on them.. but it was the traitor who pulled the trigger!!
Role Update Idea: The Spy not only becomes the player model of the person they kill but the dead body is also swapped with the player model that killed them. So for example, Lewis kills Zylus and Lewis becomes Zylus player model and Zylus' dead body becomes Lewis' player model.
The only thing that breaks TTT is how overpowered Ben is whenever he plays a pink role.
Or Tom if he ever returned, pre-Glitch Forever Traitors or Ravs on a map with lots of hiding spots.
He's just so killable they can't resist.
It's just a true testament to how much they RDM him

Without watching any of the video, I'm going to say yes. ("Does this Updated Role break Gmod TTT!?")
I loved the chaos in that last round!
14:57 Not sure what I just saw but it was beautiful.
20:54 Just Ravs attempting to resolve being cuffed by committing the classic Harold Bishop move of walking into the sea🌊
I love seeing Lewis before a video
17:30 Niley's slow reach for the healing station only to be instantly pulled back over-and-over is hilarious
13:39 Ravs killing another innocent and making his Veteran ability pop was fantastic lol
Can't wait for Proteshional Strem to donate to the Jingle Jam again this year!!
21:30
Fun Fact: Though unintentional, Rythian’s actions here are a good example of the main way TF2 Spies trigger the Dead Ringer: 1 fall damage!
Both would get a "normal" traitor icon above their head, but only the original beggar would know which team to win with
This is San Andreas Not 5
This does feel like it massively promotes just shooting the beggar instead of giving it an item, whether traitor or innocent
I'm already signed up to partcipate for the jingle jam this year. I did it last year too.
This time I'm trying my hand out on making a team!
Trying to gather people is being a rather big nightmare however and not many people I even asked said yes but I'm still gonna try my best.
18:36 All those Quiz Time memories...
"Why is Ravs glowing?"
Such a Kirsty moment 😂
Lewis saying no to killing the beggar right away is such character development
8:12 pedguin got a second chance at life here from the body being eaten by the barnacle
Ben, and Rythian just getting traitor and detective the first 4 rounds of this video
Lewis is probably the only person to get away with that moustache 😆
The "beggar's can't be choosers" update to the beggar seems like the correct amount of unhinged
Very excited for Jingle Jam, makes the Holiday season!
Every time it goes to kirsty's view, it feels like UA-cam has downgraded the video quality to 360p :D
Lewis on the ad: We have a very good collection of games this year.
Lewis on Triforce podcast: No one will take my calls, and I'm banned from all the discords because people think I'm a bot.
Ped handcuffing Ravs was genius 😂😂😂😂
I think the Beggar's change should be announced, but 30s after the switch (maybe 15? Whatever it is for the arsonist) that way its not instant but they need to act or hide quickly
I think it'd be cool if y'all had a special once-in-a-while Chaos pack. all the most insane randomats and OP roles. have concentrated chaos and just inflict psychic damage on everyone.
Ben’s shot the sherif but not the deputy was a brilliant joke
Spectacular show! 🥳 Always a treat.
the NEW *Beggar* really really needs to be turned into a loot goblin if it gets more then 2 items from detective/traitors ... either that or into a jester roll :P
Ravs killing Nilesy and getting the “you’re the last innocent alive” message was pure cinema
13:40 Lewis is saying who the traitors are, as Ravs kills someone and "you are the last innocent alive" pops up.
Huh. The last time I was on this pier, I was a vampire and there was a corpse hanging from one of the lamp posts.
Rythian hating the new begger is so funny
That last round was peak comedy
"so you saying you shot the sheriff, but you didn't shoot the deputy?" Friggin Ben 🤣
So many people are tilted by the end of this. It's just a complete breakdown. lol
Lewis out here rocking the most dubious of facial hair
well if they are listening to the community i suggest a change to the glitch role. When inspected, the glitch's body should appear as a traitor, that way traitors do not know if they killed their traitor buddy or not, and innocents do not know if a glitch claim was leggit. that way a glitch has an easier time pretending to be a traitor, and it also fits the theme of the glitch
I don't know why, but OpenTTD is the jingle jam stream I always look forward to
Isn't that where the fan made banger song "Get fucked up" came from? Or was that an old civ stream?
All we need now is the Beggar to join the mad scientist team
Can you add sort of a reverse spy role where your model gets changed to your killer's model, or smth like that
I was really hoping this year they would have gone to something different than Tiltify, I love the jingle jam but not tiltify. had 20 keys disappear because of their email character limit and apparently it was my fault
So excited, gonna be such an elite jingle jam 🎉
I'm really excited for jingle jam!
Role Update Idea: The Spy not only becomes the player model of the person they kill but the dead body is also swapped with the player model that killed them. So for example, Lewis kills Zylus and Lewis becomes Zylus player model and Zylus' dead body becomes Lewis' player model.
Maybe...just maybe...you should put the Jingle Jam link in the descriptions of videos...crazy idea I know!
“Why did Rythian rdm???” Everyone.
Rythian only kills the bad guys 🤔
I can't wait for the poker. It's the best bit every year!
We're going to get to actually say "Duncan's back!" on an upcoming video.
I think you could improve the beggar by making the it so the traitors need to give two items while the detective only needs to give one
"why is ravs glowing?" well might be the new skin routine :D
