- SPOILERS! and i mean it. i crammed all of them in here; please forgive me.
i finally watched it todayyyyy. not my best edit, but i just wanted to crank it out. all the apologies for all of the less-than-perfection in here.
i thought i'd come out of it wanting to edit a girl power edit or even a shippy edit, but this movie is bountiful in platonic relationships and found families, which are some of my biggest weaknesses. so here i am. editing the type of content i always edit. hope that's good with you all. :')
i honestly really enjoyed this movie; it was very character-focused, and the visuals are really beautiful, too. i liked it a lot better than most of what disney's been putting out lately, so i recommend it if you get a chance to see it. if you're reading this, and you haven't seen it, i sure hope you've paused the video and aren't watching it lol.
i just love people bonding over grief and becoming a family. an A+ trope. give it to me always.

This is literally what you call a found family story. They all come from different backgrounds, lost different people and yeah sometimes they fight but its all about trust, taking the first step, sacrifice and family.

@@DannyPhantomSG1 It isn't available for me to just buy on Google TV except for Disney plus for 7 dollars a month. I have Netflix with my dad, he said 1 service was enough though. So, not certain I can buy to see it if it doesn't become Google or Netflix available without looking to order a DVD from somewhere by not buying it through the internet

This is the best Raya amv there is, no kidding! It's so emotional and it shows how immportant their families are to them and how much they miss them. It's better then the wanna be romance between Raya and Namaari

The song somehow fits the film so much. Raya did really lose almost everything when Sisu died. But then, when they were surrounded by the Druun, maybe Raya knew if she had been dead, she would have lost herself and also lost Sisu and her Ba. So that she took the first step, to believe in Sisu once again to never lose Sisu again.
And if you watch the original MV of this song, the story is also touched. The girl's father is gone away and she reminisces him.
"I'm not gonna lose you now."
Which also means that you keep someone who was far away in your heart so that they can live forever there. And Raya, she chose to believe in Sisu and her Ba so that she believed Namaari and let Sisu with her Ba live.

okay, i am a horrible person because I watched this first and have yet to watch the movie (which im so ready to do) but I AM SO EXCITED TO WATCH NOW!!! this is amazing and I love it and im a sucker for platonic relationships and this was so beautifully done and oof. So here is my theory about Namaari and Raya' relationship before the Movie: (Fanfic theory but I think this might be it)
-After 6 years have passed, Raya must have trained herself to live alone and has big trust issues. It comes past her mind about what Namaari said on how to save the world by finding the last dragon which is hidden by the River's edge. As the Guardian of the dragon Gem, she believes that if finding the last dragon she might get her Bah/ Father back. But in order to do so, she must steal it from her enemy which is Namaari.
-Remember when Namaari said to Raya "Six months ago I thought you were stoned, but someone stole Fang's Dragon scroll." This means that Namaari and Raya met before Raya was searching first for Sisu. Maybe they have a close relationship or they may be mocking each other endlessly with hidden feelings of course, shucks I really ship them! I believe Raya went to Fang in disguised (proof is the yellow shade of her clothes to blend in at the Land of Fang and Raya is from Heart which has blue and green colors)/ just accidentally meet Namaari. Maybe if Raya's stay at Fang may neither be welcoming nor maybe she is held as a prisoner, but one of Raya's objectives to stay at Fang is to grab the dragon scroll from Fang, mainly in order to steal it, and for it to be possible she must get close to the princess of Fang which is Namaari and she knows where it is hidden. I gotta hunch that Raya might have seduced Namaari and asking her where that scroll might be hidden. Lol. They may have a bad start but let us remember that Raya knows how to push Namaari's buttons! So they really know each other very much!!! Disney, You should have given us a back story huhu!!!
- Raya might have faked herself of being stoned *maybe she was surrounded by a lot of Druun but never forget she has a piece of the dragon gem maybe that saved her life after being chased out by Namaari by stealing the scroll. After Namaari witnessing Raya was surrounded by Druun thought Raya was stoned maybe Namaari was saddened. So Namaari went to find her body after maybe to ask forgiveness LOL AHAHA but there was no stoned Raya to be seen. So Namaari was filled with hope that she might be alive so she searched for Raya (And I love her dedication searching for her, she even went to The Land of Tail just to prove that she is alive XD) signs of relief may be finding that your lover is alive LOL. I love the fact Namaari pushed one of her disrespectful soldiers after the soldier said "She is good as Gone" No one messed with my GF but me LOL. i CAN'T STOP SHIPPING RAYAMARI!!!

What are you talking about, this is STUNNING 😍 First when you showed her looking back and then zoom into flashbacks when the lyrics say 'i wish we could remember every second week had' - this right there was both beautiful and GENIUS, it highlights the passage of time perfectly and how things have gone so downhill. Then the 'don't get them back' and you zone in on when she lost her dad? Gosh that had hurt! And then you go on to show past and present friendship of Namari and Raya just as the 'not so close anymore' hits in, and that was pure wow, you created it as if the song was made for your edit. And 'when the lights go down' you showed how things looked hopeless? Gah your ability to follow through with the metaphors and the lyric-clip matching is just phenomenal. I could give a more deep analysis, but I'll leave it there - know that this was beyond perfect! Thank you for sharing. And tots agree, film was great, it's been a while since we saw a strong animated Disney film so was a refreshing watch.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but I don't regret watching this edit. It sold me! I definitely want to see this movie! I was so worried they'd go the overly comedic route after hearing some of the Dragon's dialogue in the trailers. But clearly, it's still a really serious character-centered movie.
Thank you! It definitely has humorous moments, some of which land while some done. But overall it does take the situation and character relationships seriously, so I was pleased by it. 🥰 Hope you end up enjoying it when you see it!

This was a sign to watch rayla before all the spoilers rise from the internet. My friend and I watch it together today. That particular scene 0:27 I may have over reacted by screaming, If only raya just waited to trust her. I also kept joking the necklace was a proposal, my friend told me to be quiet. Also the water animation on point. This song fits so well with the theme of the movie. I liked the ending when they reunite ‘I’m not going to lose you now’.

@@Skyrodin I don’t have a lot of advice beyond “just throw some stuff into the program and keep editing to see what works for you.” Most editors communicate via Skype or discord (or to a lesser extent forums) these days because yt got rid of its private message system.
My best advice for reintegrating into a community would be to make a few edits and then look around for open studios/collab-MEP groups and see if there are any you could try to join. There may also be links out there to open discord servers for editors. You’d just have to look around and see if any editors whose work you like have anything like that. 🙂
