  • Welcome To Our Lotus Sunbeam Avon Restoration series
In this series we have 4 vehicles to restore
At FLC we restore vehicles in a totally different way to most restorations companies
We have Developed this method over 30 years of restoring vehicles
We believe that this is the only way to restore vehicles and that in the future this will be the way that all restorations will be done
We will highlight the benefits of restoring a vehicle using this method and take you on a Journey set by set from start to finish
Please bare in mind that we are car builders and not video makers and doing our best to get up to speed on how to use UA-cam
In this episode we see the team weld the new chassis legs onto the refurbished floor
The complete floor panel is then sealed in Epoxy Primer before the team weld it into position
Making sure the floor is welded into the correct position is a VERY Vital part of the build
If the team get this wrong the outer panels will not fit correctly

I had an Avon Sunbeam Talbot back in the day. I took it to Skip Brown who fitted Bilsteins all round and gave it slightly uprated camshafts. What a machine! I loved it. Highly recommended.

The only way to properly remove ALL rust from a shell, IF the customer is willing to pay for it. Excellent work there guys, it's not easy to separate old panels without causing major deformation and being able to reuse them. Assembly on a jig with lots of measuring before and after and it's a fantastic result.

Yes imo only way to be done. Is expensive but we had clients that have come to us with restored cars that we had to do again so they end up paying twice. It takes a lot of experience and love to restore like this

That’s a lot of expensive work . What sort of money does that cost that dipping and electro primer could not do? Plus without a jig it may weld back up twisted and out of square. You clearly do great work, but this is like polishing the inside of a gearbox or axle..

It is expensive as it’s time consuming. We have jigs for all the cars we restore. Been doing this for 30 years and never had a twisted car leave out workshops. Acid dipping & E-Coating will not remove the rust from the seams. We had to restore cars that have been done like that and then the client is paying twice
