As a black man, this is the reason why it’s so hard FOR ME to date within my own community. So much stigma, self hate, and acting. As a man that has experienced SEVERAL trips around the sun, I must commend the concept behind this show, specifically for the gay community. However, it saddens me to see the attitudes of the participants as it gives the impression that they are here for clicks and follows. I don’t want to see another generation get to my age and be lonely and depressed wondering what happened. Fortunately that’s not me but I know so many that wish they could have made better choices when they were younger. I think this is going to be an amazing show once the kinks are worked out. I'm going to say this with the comments that's referencing is nothing wrong with the gay black man wanting a masculine man. I made this as a reply to someone else, but I think that this needs to be highlighted.
The issue with the pedestal of masculinity (which let's call a state of spade, it's not masculinity, it's hypermasculinity) in dating for gay black men is, when you like everything else about a person, but your central requirement for you to be with them is simply masculinity, which a lot of times is hypermasculinity (which there is a difference between masculinity and hypermasculinity) then yes, there is a problem. Because it's saying that you're not dating for love, you're dating for an aesthetic.
A lot of gay black men are not dating for love, they're dating for an aesthetic, they're dating for relationship goals, they're dating for Instagram real, they're dating for likes on an Instagram post. That is the reality, and if people want to stand 10 toes on the truth and say that the truth is gay black men want masculine men, then people need to stand 10 toes on the truth that a lot of black hat men date for aesthetic solely.
A lot will find their soulmate, and the minute they see a little bit of femininity, they'll be out the door. Then most of them behave feminine energy themselves, so if you turn that back on them, if you have feminine energy, and you want a masculine man, then what happens if everybody masculine man says that they don't want to date you because you have some feminine energy.... Now we're all single, which is where we're currently at, searching for the 1% that's basically not there.

The idea behind this is good. And that’s the extent of my positive feedback.
The host needs to work on his interviewing and hosting skills cause it’s lacking. He doesn’t need to insert himself into the experience to the extent he does. Also, stop trying to force things between the participants. I feel as though the guy who does the backstage interviews could be a better host because his questions are more intelligent.
Your camera angle needs to be worked on cause I don’t know what these people look like until they’re doing their backstage interviews. And hold off on the n-word cause this ish is overused.
Please ask smart questions. Please also get participants who are able to articulate. If the main participant is of a particular age, then it would make sense to have a wider age range of daters. Having these little boys with attitude and whose perspective is based on fashion, is banal and vapid. Having the participants doing their own stuff and having side conversations while an interview is taking place is just ghetto and disrespectful.
Edit: seeing the other similar comments is reassuring.

Should have better matches. Like 1/2 them already kno eachother and why is a dater in his 40's and ballon holders in their 20's?!? Like be for real. Lastly this episode should have been called, "Shallow Ballons" pun intended 💯🤦🏾‍♂️ DO BETTER!

The host pissed me off when the 2nd contestant came out. You made him pop the balloons based off looks then kept asking him why as if it was anything more than he could say other than looks. Then threw up him missing out on a man with money when again, you didnt allow him to ask questions himself before popping the balloons.

I was thinking this. Like the host was going over board. I don't understand why the top and bottom thing is a deal breaker when there are other ways to have a sexual relationship, and he kept pressing about these men appearances as if looks is all that matters. (not saying he's a terrible host or anything. I just think there are other healthier ways to discuss their opinions without being degrading or being rude.) - not just the host but contestants too.

Like the idea of the show but I think it could be better, go down the line and ask name then age occupation before the one chosing comes out. And at beginning the wide shot of the lineup is good however when the person choosing comes out the camera should be more close up so we can see more facial expressions. And asking if someone is a top or bottom that should be band from the first introduction that should be left for after the show, it just seems to me that the question should not be in the introduction..
Maybe in the intial intervies ask the chooser what there looking for then stack the the picks to give chooser a better chance to make a connection and avoid the caty bantor. Just saying....

Love, love, love the concept, but could use some tweaks to represent us in a better light as some parts were extremely cringe, respectfully. Maybe have a conversation with the cast prior to filming about professionalism on set, appearances, and taking it more serious as it just feels as if they are there more for a tv appearance and not to actually date. Not asking about sexual positions since gay men are already viewed as overly promiscuous and it just sexualizes everything, and can take away from the experience of getting to know the guys that come on a deeper level, and not surfaced. I feel like more men would be willing to do this if they did not feel like they were going to get “shaded” and deal with cattiness the whole time. I am confident that this can be a major banger if revamped a bit. There is ample opportunity for growth. I will continue to watch and support.

Contestants…act like you’re coming to meet someone! A few of the shoes looked like they walked to the show lol…and then had the nerve to critique somebody outfit.

It's good to see efforts being made for a show catering to gay men to find love, which I appreciate. However, I do have a concern about the host. Despite his good looks and stylish attire, his over-the-top behavior is deterring me from watching the show. For example, when he questions why someone popped or kept a balloon, he should keep it brief and move on to the next person. It seems like he is encouraging contestants to say something negative about each other, giving off a vibe similar to the unpleasant energy often encountered in club settings, with people making disrespectful remarks. Let’s be respectful because all gay men do not like being called a girl.

Since we changing up the format, I have some suggestions: I loved the format change for the second guy, keep doing that, but then give the dudes on the line up a chance to pop their balloons after speaking with all the guys who still had a balloon. Also cut 2-3 guys on the line and give us more bachelors. After that, maybe include like a balloon swap towards the end, so someone who has a balloon can give it to someone who doesn't but wants one after the first two popping rounds. Maybe include like a prize at the end, like $100 gift card for a date, if you get a match.
