What I believe Donny is saying:” I would rather be alone, than sin against my God”
That’s how I feel. I want companionship but if it separates/distracts me from God (or not of God) I resolve to walking this life out with just Him.

I heard him say that he really wanted a relationship but because he didn’t have the experience in or knowledge of how to deal with a women in a relationship that he found it challenging. What does that have to do with “forcing” himself into an “expectation” if it’s something he actually desires. Just a thought.

Because he had the opportunity to do that with his last relationship, but he didn’t *force* himself to go through with that for whatever reason. Especially when the public eye really wants to see their own version of a happy ending for him (I.e. married to an ‘ideal’ woman of God).
Rather he’s taking his time and figuring out several aspects of what that experience would mean for himself-since he hasn’t been thinking about his life with woman for his entire life. It only recently became a consideration. Doubt is attached to several things, and it is something you have to work through, not pass over.
I emphasize with him as a single, almost 30 yr-old woman. I had the chance to settle down with a guy that really liked me, but those feelings weren’t mutual. So I didn’t force myself into that expectation-considering I have relatives continuing to ask ‘when you getting married’ and ‘when are you having kids’. Even though most of them are divorced or baby mamas.

I’m a 47 year old single black male with no kids who is very, very active in ministry and I have been celibate for 12 years. I have dated seriously a few times and none of the relationships worked out. I have always had a strong desire to be married and have a family. Never thought it would take this long. Am totally accountable for any part I may have played in that. But to me it is all about being patient and finding the right person and situation. All things considered. I am fully confident in the fact that it will happen. And yes, a lot of people have tried to put their expectations on me. In church that’s what you do right? Get married and start a family. Yeah, I am separated from my husband and in the same place Donny is speaking of. I resigned myself to being single and so have many of my female friends. We all want that special someone in our lives but I rather be single and happy than in a relationship and stressed.

@@keithburch3238 In all honesty was all three at different stages of my life. Being 'augmentative' I got from my father, 'religous' from my mother 'overweight' poor diet habits. I never had a crazy argument with my husband, never attended a religious event with him, he was when I met him perfect man, health guru; our personalities compatable. We learned much from each other. However, we grew apart and wanted different things. He remained the same, I wanted to changed. Life is what it is. I did try dating waste of time and energy. Looking for someone who gets the same jokes, enjoys watching HC and makes me watch sports channel. So single until otherwise!

I think Pastor Donnie isn’t just talking the talk, but he’s walking the walk. This man seems to LOVE the LORD and he obviously BELIEVES in the Bible (so do I). He is living his TRUTH. His truth is he’d rather SERVE GOD and DENY his flesh instead of INDULGE his flesh and DENY his GOD. The “world” has “changed” and anything goes, but the WORD of GOD remains the SAME. I admire him for the choices he’s made for himself. He could have been like so many others who have married women to hide who they really are/what they’re really struggling with, having children and ruining lives in the process, but he chose a different path. Molestation is such a traumatic experience with lasting effects. I pray nothing but the best for him❤️🙏
Our sinful natures will always be a struggle. It’s wonderful that he is able to be open and still choose to please God by sacrificing his flesh. If we had more of this in church preaching Gods Word while loving and supporting each other in our struggles the world would be a great place.
Even though he’s a Godly man and has strong faith. Everybody wants some kind of significant other. A companion. Talks walks go out to eat talk love and hold him. Ain’t nothing like that warm body next to you at night holding you. Everybody needs love and hugs besides your friends and family.

Agreed. Some of us close our hearts off by being picky or self hating, thinking we came into this world alone etc... but no, there was someone there to deliver and hold us and to satisfy our need when we couldn't for ourselves. Making loneliness the 'option' we settle for. Donnie is torn between being happy and pleasing the church and I want nothing but his happiness, whatever that looks like, bc I don't have the right to judge.

I have soooo much Respect for Pastor Donnie Mcclurkin . I have seen him a few times Ministering in NYC and he has always been genuine and transparent. I pray he finds peace he is so anointed & very sincere. Although he is known world wide he remains humble and meek

I'm sorry that this happened to Donnie as a child! This is exactly why I closely monitor my children. Not only around adult, but around other children. I will not allow the devil to trick my children. Keeping mines pure and on fire for the Lord. It's up to them to maintain that relationship with the Father as they become adults. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord!

It's sad to read so many people resign to being alone. It's alien to me. I've recently come out of a relationship but even when I wasn't in one I'd never think Ill never find someone again. I think it's all about your mindset and what you want to attract and also preparing yourself for someone new. Review your thoughts, habits, health etc.

That's how I feel about myself. When I'm single, I feel more at peace and comfort. My mother said she was terrified during each of my relationships, because I was always emotionally intense (A hopeless romantic). However, I haven't been in a romantic relationship for a while, plus I never get lonely. Now that I know who I am, and I have a strong sense of myself and purpose, I'm afraid of losing that. Besides, I'm too old to regroup mentally and financially as I did when I was younger, insecure and stupid. I was never promiscuous, but no stranger to boyfriends and fiances. Truth, I'm too tired to put the time or energy into maintaining a romantic relationship. I can easily get suitors, but I can't keep them. P.S., some do have a gift of singleness as Apostle Paul.
So true! I feel the same way, but it’s not about keeping them, unless one has done something to push he, away. It is an investment that people don’t really get to deep into. It cost on all levels. I had to get rid of my ex because he wanted to live off me. He wanted me to have his back, but he didn’t have mine. When things got rough with me, who did I have? No one. I been on my own since I was 14 when I lost my mom.
I had to take care of myself and get a job and take care of my siblings and my father didn’t do anything. All he cared about was his government assistance. But anyway... I left home in high school, got a job and a year and half later got my own place. God provides. I had no clue how I would make it.
These men now a days want the woman to give all, while they sit back and do less. What I went through in my last relationship (and my ex wind up stealing from me too) and I had to start all over again. Still to this day he can’t be found. I thought I knew him but apparently I didn’t. He was living a double life. But I bounced back from that.🙏🏽
You got people out here married or in a relationship, still trying to creep or whatever. It’s like no one is satisfied. I hate to bring race into it but, some of the black men that want to date me, they are already taken and got mental issues with women and all they care about is sex. They keep offering their stuff on a platter as if somebody wants that. 🤢
You got men out here that want an independent woman, so they don’t have to do anything. The men I’ve met, all they want to do is domesticate me and keep me in the house and pop out their children as if the other baby mothers aren’t enough, like I’m their maid or they want a mommy. They don’t want me to have a life or be ambitious.
The other races I’ve dated, Latin and Caucasian don’t do that, but to be honest I’m not looking, lol. I see men looking and the majority of the time is lust. I could be all covered up and they still looking with googly eyes 👀 they are not trying to get to know me. I’m working on me. Companionship would be nice one day, but I have so much peace now, for the most part, and it’s going to have to take someone special, that I can make room for.
I’m finishing my degree, looking to buy a house and I’m not waiting on a man for these things. Never have like most women. I. Trying to break generational curses as long as god wakes me up each day. I have so much I want to accomplish and if I have to do it without a life partner so be it. Because sometimes relationships hold you back. Anyway, I wrote too much, thanks for reading 😊

A lot of people keep going through the same thing with a different person because they still have not learned their lesson. Or their thinking is still the same. I realize on a deeper level I kept attracting needy people, because my own needs weren’t being met. I had needs but since I been on my own so long, my needs were neglected, (Even in relationships, friends, family etc) I never even thought about it. It’s not like I was willing taking care of others.
They just found a conniving way to get something done, until I put a stop to it. My father hated that I wasn’t gullible and he used to try and trick me but couldn’t. I always stood up to him and for my mother. I think it’s crazy that people expect you to be so self sacrificial just to prove to them you love them. Time is the one thing we can’t get back and some people really want to waste your time. As we journey through life we are trying to correct what we didn’t do, because now that we know better. I have never been in love before but if love comes my way am sure I will recognize it. I get so set in my own ways and established a comfortable lifestyle so am not too bothered.
