Actually, when he refers to "the real Martin Luther" after saying "leave your thoughts on the door" he's referring to the Martin Luther that was responsible for the Ninety-five theses where he nailed a list of injustices done by the church onto the church doors.
"I fought the caste system but you still cannot touch this" is maybe the most overlooked line in ERBs history. Or at least I rarely see any reactor react to it
@@Summzit so in idea they had a very "set in stone" kind of system. You could compare it a bit to the feudal system where you have different classes however in india it is/was more detailed having more classes (or castes in this case). One for priests, one which allows you to become a warrior (in ancient times) and one of them were the so called "untouchables". They were not allowed to take any higher level job and also not to marry in any of the other classes. I believe it was the biggest class of all but without much perspective. You earned a subscriber. The fact you do historical research when watching these gets a major thumbs up. I love these videos cause silly as they are at times, many of them teach a bit of history in a fun way. Keep it up.
Unpopular fact: Gandhiji used to call black africans 'kaffirs' (equivalent of the modern day 'N' word) during his time in South Africa. Calling Indians and the Whites brothers due to their Aryan origins, he actually never cared about racism against the blacks and actually advocated that it continue.
I have come to watch & enjoy some of your ERB-reactions by now. It is nice to watch someone's reactions to those battle, who is also literate about facts to some of the combatants. And you even google things if there is something unclear to you. Thank you, you are very entertaining. Greetings from Germany
Dude you are very quick witted and intelligent. Holy shit, started watching your reactions to ERB today and already I've learned so many things I didn't know or catch before. Snd I've watched the actual battles many times as well as many, many other reactors. Yet I am learning so much from you just in the last hour. Holy fuck dude! And you catch so many things too! Not everything, obviously, because no one catches everything. But so far I'm gonna have to say you've caught so much more than the vast majority of other rectors I've watched.
1:48 "Leave your thoughts on the door like the real Martin Luther" He's not talking about MLK's father. He's talking about Martin Luther from 16th century Germany who posted his 95 theses on the door of a church beginning the entire Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther -- the Lutheran Church follows him. Because of him we have Anglicans, Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists, Calvinists etc etc etc...
The real Martin Luther was one of the most important people in all of history. His 95 Thesis was the catalyst of the protestant reformation which recovered the gospel which had been buried beneath the ritual of Roman Catholicism.
His original name was Michael, however after his father had taken a trip to Europe, he learned about Martin Luther and converted to Protestantism (more specifically, Lutherism). After his trip, he came back home and legally changed both his and his son’s name to Martin Luther as tribute to the man who founded the religion that they were now following.
Martin Luther King Jr. (born Michael King Jr.; January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968)King was born Michael King Jr. on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, the second of three children to the Reverend Michael King Sr. and Alberta King (née Williams).[2][3][4] King's mother named him Michael, which was entered onto the birth certificate by the attending physician.[5] King Sr. stated that "Michael" was a mistake by the physician. I looked it up so no one else had too.
Along with the Martin Luther line( that someone else pointed out already in comments) another one that reactors miss is "I broke the caste system but you still cannot touch this" is referring to the untouchables in ancient Indian society when the caste system was still going strong.
Martin Luther King Jr. Birth name was Michael King Jr. his dad was Michael King Sr. but did change both his and his sons name to Martin Luther King Sr. & Martin Luther King Jr.
the Martin Luther line was referring to the man named Martin Luther who stamped the 95 thesis on the front door of the catholic church, basically complaints about the church back then, that’s why he said leave your thoughts on the door like the real Martin Luther
Fun fact in relation to your quote "That might be atomic bomb" for Gandhi; in the computer game series Civilization, Gandhi is infamous for declaring war and using nukes, lol.
I had to go find it myself... MLK jrs birth name was Michael... His dad went to Germany and got inspired by Martin Luther reform so therefore that's why he changed both their names
ghandis first line "i fought the cast system but you still cannot touch this" is a play on the lowest cast in the indian society, "the untouchables" and of course MC Hammers song "can't touch this". ghandi wanted to improve the life of these "untouchable" people, who were born into mandatory poverty and basically having no rights nor way to work their way out of their tough lives.
Also just looked it up I know ppl explained the Martin Luther thing a few times but his father did change his name cause he was inspired by my boy the og Martin Luther

The line explains itself, no real double meaning behind it or anything.
MLK played his strengths well, the oratory skills, the I have a dream callout, the street cred line, but yeah Gandhi took it on the offensive and won.
I wonder they didnt used the fact that biggest advocate of peace didnt got peace Nobel. Would have given Gandhi some fire lines with that .
