That's so true. I think Floor gave a new life to nw great singer, great concerts, but I think this is the best one. There's an atmosphere I can't explain, but it's just great
Vocals: the nordic queen Guitar: the warrior of the north Bass: the berserker Drums: the metal pirate Keyboard: the young wizard Gaitas: the wise of the people This band is literally a epic nordic tale!
Im a wee bit obsessed, just rediscovered Nightwish, they just got even better, pretty unbelievable. It's a perfect representation of what hard work, coordination and musical proficency can become and the sound quality is unequaled in this one.
Just saw that Jukka stepped down from drummer for good. Not surprised, but a little sad. Glad he is doing better these days though. I can only imagine how much it must have sucked doing that all while being unable to sleep.
I suffer from insomnia as well. One of the reasons I had to go on disability. I juts couldn't work any more, as my body just couldn't deal with the insomnia AND my chronic health problems. Insomnia is a female dog.
I think this was key to Tuomas bringing her onboard. From her two bands and her incredible voice, he could not resist her and truth be told, she and her last band had opened for Nightwish often during their European tours, so he was very familiar with her powerful performances. It would help those who wonder how Floor came to Nightwish if they pulled up her interview. I think it's at least 10 minutes in length. I found Part 1 where she talks about her burnout and how Nightwish pulled her out of it. To me it was quite emotional; ua-cam.com/video/F2nWX8BSWTU/v-deo.html
This video is even more epic for me than what i experienced on some concerts from other artists. I think everything had to do that nightwish was recording their new album here: Showtime Storytime. Everything had to be 110% perfect. All we have to do is ask Tuomas for another recording of an album at upcoming wacken open air, and tell him to contact the same mixing guys
I keep going back and listening to the 2013 Wacken Open Air songs by Nightwish. To me it seems that they absolutely nailed every song, Floor Jansen owned the stage with her vocal talent and theatrical abilities and the band was just about perfect. As Floor is singing you can see the expressions on the band member's faces at times - they know they've really scored a winner at lead vocals, and the synergy that was displayed in this concert is unmatched in music.
Agreed, I think they peaked here. Fresh blood, fantastic singing, great atmosphere. Everything clicked. There is some work after the fact in post production but her vocals are as live as it gets from what I can hear. Fast forward 7 years and they are still great but obviously wear and tear on the vocals during that time. Just fantastic that we will always have this performance to go back to. It's incredible.
jesus f**king christ, what a performance! i've seen a lot of bands live and heard a lot live recordings but it blows my mind that a band can sound sooo impressive and on time while playing live. incredible.
@@J_e_s_s_i_c_a_ That was around ten months before hand. This concert was in around Aug 2013. She joined October 2012, still an incredible feat considering she had been recovering from burn out.
It's funny how Floor just took every song and made it her own, no matter if it was Tarja or Annette song, she's truly talented, and disciplined beyond belief (that amount of voice control takes years and years of practice). Perfect fit for Nightwish.
If they hadn't said she was new at the beginning, I wouldn't have known. She fit in so well I would have thought she'd been part of the team for years. And the whole band is smiling.
@@waxl7929 Tarja is an Opera singer through and through. Floor fits the symphonic metal genre because she still brings the "metal" edge that's needed. Listen to girls like Amy Lee of Evanescence. Girl's got a voice from heaven but damn can she bring the metal.
Taken as a whole, this is one of the greatest live performances of all time. Great music, surpassing the studio versions. Tremendous energy and enjoyment from the band throughout. It's all the more impressive when you understand that the band was nearly dead only 10 months earlier when Floor stepped in to finish their current tour. You can see the clear happiness as they realise they are absolutely killing it in front of 82K people and how it nearly never happened. One of the best stories in Rock/Metal
And, Floor was coming off severe burn out. I think someone said it best when they said that Floor and Nightwish healed each other. How thankful they did! While I don't watch the entire concert every day I watch at least some of it every single day.
Seeing Nightwish LIVE is not a concert. It is a life changing experience. Wembley Arena London 2015 'Poet and the Pendulum' Floor sang it with so much emotion we were all in floods of tears by the end of that masterpiece. Floor has taken Nightwish to the heights never reached before.
While I’m happy that Jukka is getting better, I’m forever going to miss him on those drums. Kai is a BEAST when it comes to playing, but Jukka just had this energy that can’t be replaced. Gonna miss you, crazy drummer pirate man!
@@yerviniansamvel Jukka suffered from severe insomnia, which, of course, impacted every aspect of his life, and he ultimately made the decision to step down from drumming with the band, while still managing the day-to-day backend. I know from reliable sources that Jukka also had back problems, not unlike many other professional drummers of that era, myself included, and that certainly played a part in his decision making. Enter Kai Hahto, the absolute beast of a drummer, never intending to "out-perform" Jukka, but adding his personality and skillset to the mix. I will forever be a Jukka-fanboi!
I'm a hip hop fan trying to discover why metal music is so popular and I'm glad I find symphonic metal ! So far from my first stereotypes ! Respect from France to the metal community !

I can only imagine the elation that Tuomas must have experienced after seeing Floor perform during her first shows. The woman's whole stage presence is just...wow.
That defining moment of a band , when that missing jigsaw piece is found, and that band go from 'great' to 'global megastars' status. nightwish found their singer, Floor found her place in the world. This is one of the very great performances of all time...that crowd melted to the Floorgasm. undisputed Queen of metal !
@@shira158 their first tour with Floor, they had a few before, but its like shes been with them from the start. Its this concert though..its a really special one.
Tuomas Holopainen = The Noble Vampire Emppu Vuorinen = The Smiling Hobbit Marco Hietala = The Strong Viking Jukka Nevalainen = The Energetic Pirate Floor Jansen = The Divine Valkirie Troy Donockley = The Wise Druid ... Nightwish: straight from a Fantasy...
I'm sitting hear with tears streaming down my face after watching them do the best performance of Ghost Love Score I have ever heard. What an amazing stage presence she has and that finish was godly. The entire show was a work of art.
65 years young here and watch this performance at least once a week and still get tears every time with Ghost love Score. On my bucket list to see them live . One of the best concerts I have ever heard, every song is a stand out.
I like a lot this version but I think the best performance was the one in Argentina. Please watch it here ua-cam.com/video/4V_eoR6r1Tw/v-deo.html. By the way, I am not argentinian
@@robertovillalobos5034 Agreed! I just stumbled across the version form Buenos Aires a few days ago, and when I was thinking before that the Waken version of this song is beyond perfection, I was corrected: Argentina is EVEN BETTER. Wow. What a band. Incredible.
Dammit, Man... This show made me a fan of this Band. They seem all so happy in stage, no egos, Just talented people doing great music. Its delightful to watch.
it's amazing man...i've been listening to this show while playing video games for over two years...i must have played it entirely like 20 or 30 times over this span and i STILl fucking love it!
The best concert I’ve even seen in my life and I’ve seen a lot. Nightwish sound fucking awesome but Floor Jansen absolutely nailed it. The energy she brings together with Jukka is mind blowing. Only being in the band for 10 months at that stage she killed it!!! I can’t even listen to the originals anymore because of this performance!!! Well done!!!
I must agree. I wasnt a nightwish fan, always hated this band cause of their singers I kinda had to dislike. tarja was too much operatic and sounded arrogant, anette was a bad live singer and a 5 days ago I noticed that floor is in this band and sounded amazing. this band brought me back my joy in symphonic metal, even after seeing 100 gigs per year unfortunately I avoided nightwish. ... floor is the best female singer ever existed. I havent seen anyone else like her. After bingewatching all available reaction videos, Id recognize those fans on the street as if they were celebrities. :P
Nightwish Wakken Open Air is a legendary concert. A band firing on all cylinders in perfect syncronization. A new and extremely talented lead singer treating the show as an audition. Truly awesome, really-not just a fill in word-the definition of awesome. With that said... There are some other bands that were letter perfect, some on video, most not. Cheap Trick at Boudikan. An extremely well rehearsed band-their segueways were seamless-perfect. The magic of this show was the synergy between the band and the audience. It was as if it was a paid professional audience. The performance of I Want You to Want Me is legendary. Babymetal-Tokyo Dome 2016 Red and Black nights. You have to watch both nights as it was a total catalogue of the band's music (half one night, the other half the next night). Not only were the musicians note for note perfect, but the singers were note for note perfect while performing choreography that obviously took hundreds of hours to perfect. The moment to watch-red night, next to last song-the audience is wearing issued neck braces with lights. When the lights suddenly come on the lead singer is gobsmacked as 55,000 lights coming on is an awesome spectacle. The audience being led on an accapella sing along is also a spectacle in Road to Resistance. Pat Benatar-Live in New Haven. If you can find a first edition VHS you will not only see a band firing on all cylinders, you will catch a rare moment. The show was recorded for a new network (HBO). Several songs in Pat had to slow the band down as they were going too fast. Also, the first edition VHS has four songs not seen on the version of this show that is available on youtube. Lastly, you see a singer and four musicians. No auto tune. No recorded studio tricks mixed in with the keyboard. Just pure raw talent. And Pat in 1982 is very comparable to Floor in 2013.
I was very late to discover Nightwish, only began listening to them a few years ago. I just can't believe what I have been missing out on for so many years. Those that I spoke to, could not praise the band enough, but I didn't really think too much of it - I'm an old fart pretty set in my ways. But boy am I glad I finally decided to give them a go when I did. It has fast become a band with a very special place in my heart, and delivers smiles and goosebumps still, and I think they will continue to do so for years to come. To think that this was one of Floor's first live concerts with the band is so extremely impressive, it blows me away. Her efforts and presence tell a completely different story, it's like she's been with them for years. You could easily say that I am somewhat smitten with her :) A true queen of metal!
Same here. 2 years ago aged 58 I was recommended by a good friend to listen to Nightwish live with Floor. Reluctantly I did and it was one of the best things that I have ever done. Phenomenal band 🙏❤️👍😊
There are 2 concerts in my life I will sorely miss never have been fortunate to see and that is Queen at Wembley, and Nightwish at Wacken 2013. If I had to choose I think it would be this one. The magic that happened that night is unbelievable. Happy tears for 1 hr and 40 min.
It's seven years already and I am still stunned that Floor hits the high notes on Ever Dream even after the song is raised one and a half steps. And with such intensity. This woman is unbelievable.
She's a Goddess of Metal. Arguably *THE* Goddess of Metal. (so..? NOT so unbelievable, yeah..?) But, yes..! Awestruck wonder is the proper reaction to her...
@@Beat4Drumz I started listening to Metal at age 10, with a cousin's Hell bent for leather LP, I am 51 this year and have listened to a lot Metal with Judas Priest my primary go to. Listening to her range, I am so impressed. Goddess of Metal I agree!
I wish I could listen to Nightwish (with Floor) for the first time all over again. I’m envious of those of you who are still just discovering the band. The high you feel.🤩
Best concert opening ever? First guitar chords kick in to a huge roar from the crowd. The band opens the throttle on an intro that sounds like a supercharged Neon Knights by Sabbath. Crowd goes absolutely nuts. The pyrotechnics fly left, right and centre. Then, just when you think it can't get any more epic, the Queen of the fucking Valkyries strides imperiously onto stage!
I recently stumbled across NW videos on UA-cam. I absolutely fell in love with band. This has been so addicting and I just can't get enough. I'm 50 years old and have never thought metal can sound this beautiful and mesmerizing. It brings you to a whole different world. I'd even say spiritual because of the meaning behind some of the lyrics. This is truly a rarity in today's music. Amazing!
I am 54 years old. I found out about this band over a year ago. Its just beautiful music. Hip Hop as ruined America. I total agree with your comment about Nightwish. They are incredible.
Tuomas the keyboardist truly is a mastermind. He is behind the music and also the lyrics. I really recommend also checking out his solo album based on the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
When I was at a Mayhem concert in Belgrade, me and my friends helped the driver fix his bus after the concert. An absolutely awesome lad (who even had a tatoo of his Serbian ex's name). I could say we had greater time after the concert.
I've never heard of Nightwish until last week. Since then I haven't listened to any other band except them, and I can honestly say that they're the best rock band I've ever heard. I can't stop listening to them.
Sometimes everything connects. You have the best songwriter, with the best band, the best singer, the best crowd and all the magic in the universe. Love the moment Marco introduces Floor and the crowd loves her.
One of the best Nightwish concerts ever, the selection of tracks, the ejecution, Floor...everything is awesome!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I never get tired of listening it over and over again. It´s a masterpiece!!!
I can't get over Emppu falling over at 52:09. Jukka and Troy are like "Oops, shit happens" and Marko is going "Fuck, you okay, dude?" immediately. I love this band.
Floor, with that talent, needed great songs to sing. The band, with that music, needed a great versatile singer. Voila! A perfect match made in Heaven!:)
the new one (now a full member) is even more insane, just watch "devil and the deep dark ocean" buenos aires 2018. the old one moved into management after a health issue, which he overcame, but didn´t want to risk breaking out again.
This marks the twenty first time I'm listening to this particular concert and it never gets old. Floor captured my heart and ears! I came late to Nightwish but they've become my favorite band.
Feel the same, with the little difference that i am 16 xD Nightwish is just the greatest Band ever existed - and i am saying this as a Fan of Queen too^^
I’ve just recently discovered Nightwish from watching Dan Vasc videos of him covering some of their songs……been binge watching them and now just found this concert. OMG….they are so amazingly talented!!
Breathtaking ... best concert i have EVER seen, and I saw them all from the Stones , deep purple, Tina Turner, to the Dire Straights and name them all ..... nothing even comes close. I am just gob smacked!!
My favorite Nightwish concert ever! I was thinking imagine being in this crowd during the song Amaranth, not aware that the most epic version of Ghost Love Score is about to be performed live next.
Never in my life have I seen a family with so many consistant real hearted smiles in my life , Nightwish and the Nightwish family of loyal fans are on this night "One" the true serenity of energy here is a phenomena .. I'm so proud of metal and metal fans to be showing this titanic display of love and power . HAIL NIGHTWISH , HAIL WAKEN .🤘🖤🤘Respect from Australia 🤘🇦🇺 What a breath taking performance
@@CaffeineNightOwl Yes, I know. But, speaking as an artist, all the hard work in the world will not give you that spark of raw passion and soul that is talent. Almost anyone with the time and dedication could learn to sing and play these notes in this sequence. But they would not sound like Nightwish does because, under all the hard work it took to learn to do that, they do not have the raw passion and soul that the members of Nightwish have.
@@ruby5787 I agree. Without passion and soul the best technique is nothing. Floor for example can somehow reach the emotions with her voice, You cannot learn that. But we mean the same thing, I think. It´s the combination of talent and hard work. Can we agree on that? Greetings from lower saxony and stay safe from covid.
I literally just spent the whole weekend listening to Nightwish. Last week I had never heard of them until I saw reaction videos! Incredible band! And of course Floor is amazing! Thank you.
And to think, she was suffering a serious burnout in 2011. Now look at her here, giving one of the greatest vocal performances of all time. BRAVO Floor Jansen
I have the feeling she was more completely devastated because of the ending of her band Afterforever which was her baby. So more a deep depression than a burn-out. A true burn-out literally takes years to recover from.
Florr is an amazing singer, as if she is from another planet. Incredible control of voice and breathing. incredibly controls the voices in the song ... Rock, Pop, Clasic, Chest, Belt, Head, Soprano ... she has it all !!!!! she can sing everything!!! Nightwish is a very good band ... great musicians and an amazing singer. I would praise the drummer..he is amazing, Man machine !!! this is one of the best live performances i have seen in my life!!!
At that nice evening in Germany Floor just planned to burn down her personal best performance, to be loved by the Nightwish Army. But she did much more than just this - she took possession of Tarja's & Annette's timeless evergreens, the crowd was totally on fire & couldn't believe what they see/hear! VERY BEST live Performances of all Bands I have ever seen and heard! Awesome!
1:09:20 - You can really see that Floor Jansen is having so much fun. I literally get chills just imagining what it's like to be there at this moment and I bet Tuomas Holopainen approves by the way he's smiling there. Such a great concert, thank you !
Thank you Floor for comming down to Earth and joining NightWish to grace us with your voice of a goddess. Thor just sent a message and said that your people miss you back on Asgard. ALL HAIL FLOOR JANSEN, QUEEN OF THE VALKYRIES OF AAGARD!!!!!!!!! ❤🎤💋
This is the definition of perfection 🤘⭐ Never seen a band this tight and you can see them smiling to eatch other. Can't get any closer to heaven then this 🙏🤘⭐
Nightwish live are AMAZING!!!!! They never disappoint. And shall we talk about Jukka? Wow!!! What a SHOWMAN!!! I love watching him playing, i can not take my eyes off him! Whenever i watch him, he mesmerizes me. Sooo entertaining 🤩🤩 it really looks he is having a good time on stage and you can clearly feel his energy thorough the screen. I hope you recovered man, we miss you so much ❤️
As I continue to discover the music of Nightwish, it becomes harder to find things about them that are awesome but I don't see many comments about. So, here's mine. I feel that their studio albums don't really do them justice. This is a band that is built for legendary live shows. Sure, the albums are great, but they only tell half of the Nightwish story. They are as epic visually as they are sonically. The only other band that I would put into this class is Pink Floyd. Some reading this may find that statement to be disrespectful, and none is intended to anyone. But I look at that crowd in this video and see the impact that a totally immersive show like this has. Nightwish is just a brilliant production on every level. I truly hope to see these guys live before I croak because I'm sure that all of their shows in Valhalla will be sold out.
After 7 or more years I am still in awe at just how incredibly amazing Floor is. Her vocal range is just unreal and her ability to do everything Tarja and Anette can do and more, is just surreal.

Lol it was recorded and Mixed for a dvd release mate lol
The biggest fault I can find is inconistent tempos
yup :D
@@andythedrummer9642 they change tempos as a stylistic choice, its not a flaw.
jesus f**king christ, what a performance! i've seen a lot of bands live and heard a lot live recordings but it blows my mind that a band can sound sooo impressive and on time while playing live. incredible.
Makes it even sweeter knowing she only had 2 hours to learn the songs before going on..
Absolutely. And she looks like she's having a good time on stage too. She is one very talented, sexy lady.
If they hadn't said she was new at the beginning, I wouldn't have known. She fit in so well I would have thought she'd been part of the team for years. And the whole band is smiling.
Once she was call to the frontline, she only had 48 hours to learn the setlist, indeed she is amazing beyond belief.
@@waxl7929 Tarja is an Opera singer through and through. Floor fits the symphonic metal genre because she still brings the "metal" edge that's needed. Listen to girls like Amy Lee of Evanescence. Girl's got a voice from heaven but damn can she bring the metal.

Still watching.
Over and over and over.. Till now
Taken as a whole, this is one of the greatest live performances of all time.
UnstoppaPaul Agreed.
And, Floor was coming off severe burn out. I think someone said it best when they said that Floor and Nightwish healed each other. How thankful they did! While I don't watch the entire concert every day I watch at least some of it every single day.
Could not agree more. One of the best live concerts in history!
Well done 👍 and mindblowing.
So true! Love this performance more than any performance. The only thing that I'm mad about is that I wasn't there!!
Who watched this more than 10x during lockdown?
So hooked on this live concert,I love floor, the other 2 singers are ok,but this is her band, she owns the crowd.rp
10x, 10x........
Still on repeat 3 months later or is it 6 months hard to tell anymore .

While I’m happy that Jukka is getting better, I’m forever going to miss him on those drums. Kai is a BEAST when it comes to playing, but Jukka just had this energy that can’t be replaced. Gonna miss you, crazy drummer pirate man!
So true... Jukka ❤️
Yes! The man had a certain charisma with those drums. A truly epic legend of the drum.
Why he left?
@@yerviniansamvel Jukka suffered from severe insomnia, which, of course, impacted every aspect of his life, and he ultimately made the decision to step down from drumming with the band, while still managing the day-to-day backend.
I know from reliable sources that Jukka also had back problems, not unlike many other professional drummers of that era, myself included, and that certainly played a part in his decision making.
Enter Kai Hahto, the absolute beast of a drummer, never intending to "out-perform" Jukka, but adding his personality and skillset to the mix.

TRY THE END OF AN ERA 2005

This is the greatest live performance in the history of music.
Rammstein far better
That last sentence of yours is as epic as this band. Respect.
Ghost Love Score was perfection.
Floor slayed it, she was so fearless. Very good control over her great voice!
After 7 or more years I am still in awe at just how incredibly amazing Floor is. Her vocal range is just unreal and her ability to do everything Tarja and Anette can do and more, is just surreal.
