I remember Rod Stewart was originally supposed to be the musical guest but had to cancel. TMBG filled in and was going to do a Rod Stewart song, but Chris Rock (one of the other guests that night) beat them to it by doing an impromptu rendition of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” So they did this song instead.
I've made my own tradition of singing (dramatically serenading) "older" to people on their birthdays. Some people love it, some actually "get it", most get a little weirded out, and no one has ever known the song I am singing to them. In recent years, I can sing the song then immediately show people wtf I'm talking about on youtube. Nerd heaven. This is a great version -- glad to have found it, and thanks to the uploader.
SaraCookieMonster I was wondering the same thing (because I have Malcom in the Middle memorized and I didn't recognize this song). So I did a bit a research. This is one of the songs that they put on the album as a filler song. It doesn't appear anywhere in the show. At least that's what Wikipedia indicated.
Knowing that this video is 20 years old now makes me feel, well....even older.
And one year later this comment is older still.
@@rhesusmonkeydave and now it's even older!
This is the coolest version of this song.
The album with the oboe. I honestly just want to go to a show where they pop someone up there doing that intro with it again and just confuse people
