- Major ice storm causes mass chaos across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri with accidents all over the place. Freezing rain has caused over 0.50” of ice accretion in spots, turning highways into ice skating rinks. This video shows the worst of the conditions south of the OKC Metro!
Only a diehard extreme weather chaser would get out in that 💩! Stay safe!
💯!! 💯!!
They wanted me to come in to work and im an amazon driver i just called in lol screw that.
This is called a keep your a$$ at home day. 👎
@@shnoopydoopy6707 Ugh I'm so sorry they still tried to make you come in! Like I'm sure customers would understand why they didn't get their overnight packages today and would want you and your team to stay safe.
It looks awful!
Freezing rain scares me more than a blizzard does
as it should. It's a kin to a widow-maker heart attack imo
Me too!!
Me too. Years ago in the 1980’s I was driving to a meeting at night and did not realize the rain was turning into freezing rain, lost control of my car, spun around and off the road past the shoulder into the mud, missing a deep ravine by a few feet. So thankful nobody got hurt and I didn’t wreck my car, and missed that deep ravine. Scary as heck.
I JUST WANT A NORMAL DAY IN MISSOURI
The warm up is coming!
@@ReedTimmerWxyup just hold on another week or so! Safe travels Reed
This is normal
if u want a normal day in Missouri, move to Illinois :) Be safe.
@@flakesinyershoe8137 you right
Nothing worse imo than seeing 18 wheelers jack knifed on the highway
My Dad was in a near fatal accident that disabled him many years ago that unfortunately caused his life to be short lived as a result of a jack knifed accident tanker truck hitting him.
People please if you do have to travel on the roads in these conditions.
Do Not!!
Vehicles can be bought again! Your jobs can wait! Your Lives can never be replaced!!
Reed, Stay Safe!!
What you are doing out there to keep others up to date with the weather is Amazingly Helpful!!
You too and your traveling Companion need travel safely!!
Asking that God Protect You as Always!!
Keep You Both Warm and Prayers that Gizmo and Mom know you will be back home soon!! 😘🙏❤️📸
What I admire about Reed is his lack of fear! Driving and walking in that terrifies me. Stay safe out there because we need you!😊❤🙏
Loved the aerial shots, Reed.👌🏼
0.50 inches of ice is considered catastrophic by the NWS.
Living in an area that gets snow and having experienced a major ice storm. If it is forecasted and you don’t have to drive don’t. If you have no choice drive slow and carry sand in your trunk incase you get stuck. If you crash don’t get out until help arrives because chances are others will be sliding into the same situation.
What an insane ice storm, stay safe out there Reed.
This is nothing compared to 2007 in SW Missouri.
Some areas of Springfield were without power for more than two weeks. Longer, if they had to have weatherheads repaired, etc.
The valve on our hot water tank busted, and started spewing hot water … it ruined stuff in my bedroom closet, bedroom, laundry room, utility closet, kitchen and dining room.
It was a TOTAL DISASTER, and we couldn’t live there for more than a month.
My husband and I had four kids in four different schools (preschool, elementary, middle and high school)… And the six of us stayed with my parents for 5 or 6 weeks until all the repairs were made.
What a mess. And now I have severe anxiety issues whenever there is a threat of inclement weather that could cause enough damage to knock the power out😳😬🤯😵💫
I remember the winter of "67 or '68 while stationed at Ft Sill OK this happening. The locals lost their minds. Personnel from northern States just jumped in and plowed, shoveled and chauffeured where needed. I was just a kid and was dumbfounded by the locals panic at what I considered a normal winter storm.
The trucking industry needs to STOP letting their drivers run like this. And pay the overlay time
So is this happening now or April of ‘22? Just checked radar and they have some icing, but soon all rain.
Excellent drone footage Reed!!!
Those big trucks just fly through the wreck my goodness...Stay safe as you can we the people just trying to get to work..or home from work God bless you Reed in your travels 🙏 all 🇺🇸
Those trucks already are at work. Mabe you should stay out of their work space. 😮
Accident scene and they still don't slow down. People just do not care anymore.
In the Springfield Illinois area it iced from around 3AM until around around 7pm. It was ridiculous.
Thanks team ❤
You can not underestimate ice. They knew but ignored it. Taken by surprise???
Y’all got ice storms but here in the midstate we get to 65 degrees by Thursday!
Strange how we’re one state away but the weather is completely different.
New dance step: The Reed Timmer Ice Shuffle.
If only there were warnings to stay off the roads.
How scary. Poor drivers.
I lived in Noble County, when I was younger, and remember a few times going to school, riding the bus, on days like these.
I live up in northeast Missouri. We got the ice but the road crews have been after it! I hope that those that have to travel do so safely. Be well and stay safe out there.
Jackknifed truck scene: saw that exact thing happen here in San Antonio earlier this week. The ice here wasn't near as bad as what you clearly were witnessing up north.
Our cars were sheet of ice here in Central Illinois
More icy rain here in the Northwest over the next few days. This is Monday, so Thursday?
Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤️🙏
ALL OF MICHIGAN SAYS MR. REED !!! GO LION'S !
Let’s go Lions!!!
I know I live in Missouri my road is ice and I'm trapped inside 💠
In MO kids been out of school since MLK day ugh 😩
After living through the 2007 ice storm in Springfield MO… I can survive just about anything 😵💫🥶😖😳
Arkansas is the same today. Please be safe. 🙏🙏
What a mess
My son is a truck driving... currently in AZ. He got sideswiped by a car.... I said that was a good thing.... otherwise he would have been in the middle of that mess... CA to NJ route... but now he is parked.....
I’m in Marshfield Mo3/8 “ of ice!
Good video Reed! Effective!
Thank you Scooby Doo
Glad im back from Wisconsin, doooo not like the ice !
Same for northern IL.
Glad it’s not here but it is slippery out there in OK. Be careful to all out there driving in that. If you don’t have to, stay home.
Thanks for what you do. Look forward to all your storm chases. Hope you and gizmo stay safe and are doing well.
Why do people even get on the road!!!
Dang it I botched that label
" Ice Ice Baby".... but in all seriousness, this nothing to mess about with, stay safe
Thank you for the footage!
thats some serious ice
Hope no one was hurt!
Not much sympathy for anyone arrogant enough to THINK that they can conquer an ice storm. Everyone had plenty of advanced warning to avoid driving.
You mean Purcell, OK not Purcell, KS 😅
Be safe out there everyone
Seen enough of these for sure .
The good news is the tres and power lines are still mostly intact , so waiting it out and getting back to whatever normal is , is just a matter of a day or so , versus weeks or a month with no power .
the trick to walking one ice is to lean forward slightly like a penguin
And knees always bent!!
I'll try that. 😂
Dr. T is on every storm coast to coast
Keeping Americans safe
Nice blue hat, Reed...Go Blue ! Go Lions!! 🎉
Holy Moly! Feeling grateful that we shouldn't get it this bad in N Ohio tomorrow morning. Stay safe out there.
Great reporting
We had the same thing in TN and tractor trailers and cars wrecked everywhere last week!
Slow down when you're out there on the highway I don't care if you're a big truck slow down makes everybody safe God bless you
Treacherous must be extremely cold
Reed, I’m confused. Is this today or is it from April 2022?
Today
@@Torcon333 thanks!
This is today. I made an error on the label my bad
@@ReedTimmerWx 👍 Thanks for clearing that up.
Was this last night or with the other storm system that went threw a few days ago ??
Please take care and protect yourself . 🙏🙏🙏 It's too cold .
Did you come to Canada?
This is a normal thing up here.
Also, at the time of commenting this, we have a few blizzards heading my way :3
It's winter time. If you're paying attention, then you won't be surprised.
I just got my car unstuck in my driveway tonight. 14 days in a row below freezing + including many subzero. About three feet of snow too. It's been since '07 that l remember this kinda winter! 😁✌️❤️🦋🙏
Stay safe + well Dr. Reed! We need you! Brightest Blessings! 💖
I dont buy "caught by surprise when they were told what was coming?"😂
Why does it say Purcell kansas 4-29-22?
Dang it I botched it
Favorite weatherman of all time
Ice is just the worst.
Drive safe please 🙏🙏🙏
ooooOOOOooo ICY!🥶
Be careful- That Global Boiling can be tricky!
Trickier than you understand
Ice car Wow!!
caught by surprise my ass! its called not being prepared. thats nothing come to the great lakes, we get that and more every year!
I'm in Bolivar MO I let dog out then both of us went back to bed
Hello from Chickasha
Is this normal for Missouri? Do they have a lot of ice storms?
Yes the central/southern US gets ice storms a lot during these pattern shifts
So was this recent or was this from April 2022? I'm confused.
Be careful and safe
Insane slick in northern Oklahoma this morning
Nice drone footage
Got friends live in Springfield Missouri
Song name during the drone shot?
Dr Timmer, please tell us everyone is relatively ok.
Im from NYC but i live in Norman Oklahoma now and for the last 14 year ive seen almost every year a nasty ice storm where tree branches broke like toothpick with the weight everything covered in ice my 2 glass dors this year frozed inside and i had my heat at 76 degrees F to keep it from freezing i had to cover the windows with foam aluminum foil and curtains and still cold but mostly the walls the door looked like the car at the beginning of this video i record it to show my landlord and sons 😂 those doors are also cover with 2 curtains to prevent so much cold come in is crazy here in Oklahoma please be safe we need you for a very long time
Since January 1 it’s like The entire country tried to freeze over and snow everywhere with ice included
Yeah we felt a little part of the tailgate end of the cold snap but us guys down here in East Texas we don’t get any snow or ice to claim we know what you’re talking about cause we truly don’t know here but hurricanes 🌀 are something else we can chat on that later on,, praying for all those guys
I’ll be glad when all this deep snow in parts of southern West Virginia is gone and I’m ready for heat and humidity! I’m also ready for severe storm chasing 🌪
Ft Wayne/Allen county is starting to cxl tonite things
Who parked that pick up on the shoulder creating a funnel for driver's to negotiate in icy conditions?
Had that same ice up here last week, I slipped and fell, bruised my ankle gotta be careful out there.
It seems the State has enough brains to shut it down. Here in Minnesota it is quite the opposite.
Be careful out there 😉
Wrong state and date. That’s definitely Purcell Oklahoma
Yes I botched that label at the beginning. My bad
If you drive for a company, you call say my truck is down and wait. If you drive for yourself, OMG!!! 🤦🏽♀️ Who’s for the company? …. ME!!! 🤗
Reed your freezing me to.
Lol!! The car in the beginning of the video looked like mine last when I went to the parking lot to my car after work! All I can say is to carry a spray bottle of 1/3 vinegar/ 2/3 water in your coat pocket! It worked!! You can also use isopropyl alcohol in same dilution.
I live in linn mo its an absolute SS here everything is on and incline
Argghhh..that sound...fingernails scraping ice....Thanks Reed
Must have some serious studded tires
Louisiana always got ice, my father always put chains on & went to the oil fields to work. Oil fields are like babies, they take a lot of care, lol!
Yikes. Do they even have sanding and/or salt broadcasting trucks in OK?
OK share a salt truck with TX … bad joke we northerners make. All kidding aside, I’ve wondered how salt trucks they have in the Dallas area where my son lives. The way he grumbles they must not have as many as we do in northern Illinois for cities and counties for icy weather.
How come the states' DOT dont shut roads down ?
