I'm also not sure what to use as offerings as my options are limited because I live in a dorm (e.g. I can't burn incense, I don't want to leave meat out to rot, etc.)
I can't say a lot for research time because I don't know your routine or when you have time - but maybe even set aside like 15 minutes or something in the morning or at night to read/research for a bit, that's what I do when I have a lot of schoolwork. And for offerings - you could use really anything that you'd like/feels right. Could be dried herbs or different drinks or anything else that's dorm-safe. Or if you wanted to use a candle, you could get an electric one (just don't put any oil or anything where it could reach the electronics obviously) - I prefer actual candles but electric ones can work for certain things.
Also offerings can be just actions you do for example for aphrodite i am working on not picking my skin anymore and in general skin care. Research alone can be an offering, a plant that you tend to can be an offering, a cool rock you find, water literally anything that holds significance to you and whoever you giving offerings to. I hope this helped a bit

Olive oil is a neutral and all purpose. Make use of cooking oil

You can cleanse the oil if you like, however I usually don't.
