    Good job man all need it to put the chain on is to first put the chain on exhaust spracket then the intake and it will be perfectly in its place.

    The bottom dot on the crank should between the orange tag or aligned to the bottom of the tag?

    They're called woodruff keys that are in the crankshaft.

    hi Peter, I'm having the hard time doing the timing on my scion tc, because the car is a coup I have to take the whole engine out every time. my cam gear seem to be coming out of time or slipping while under the chain before the chain finally gets to be tight enough to turn the gear with out more slipping. please help.

      @@mosesandrews4381 so I took off the pan, and all bad .. big chunks of metal in there, and the bottom of the block by the oil pan has a cracked piece on it. Think this engines done

      Tdc is easy to set. All you need is to set the linear marking on the crankshaft position upwards.

      @@seanedwards94 Just install the crankshaft bolt and use it to turn the crank.

    But did you lock or unlock the vvti gear? When installing new gear it says to unlock and tighten but also says to lock then tighten but says to make sure it is full retarded or advanced. I dunno how to interpret the shop manual there..
