Thanks for sharing this great video. How is the ‘bike inside’ part of these boots comparing to each other? I had a very bad accident, where my onderleg on the inside was fractured. I was wearing a leather suit with BMW boots, but the bones in my underleg was badly fractured. Would these boots give better protection on the inside?? Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you understand you are asking me an impossible to answer question. Every crash is different and also motorcycle gear can only reduce energy in a crash. At a certain point there is nothing that the best gear in the world can do to safe your bones. The Axial D1 boot is the best race boot that Dainese makes, but even with that you see MotoGp racers at the highest level still brake bones. Probably a lot less than with lesser boots , but riding a motorcycle always has some risk to it.

I really don‘t need the high end model security-wise but get sweaty feet in my current Supertechs which seem similar to the Torque. At the moment the Axial is „only“ around 100 bucks more, so price isn‘t really a factor. For me it comes down to overall comfort vs ventilation.
Thank you for the kind words ! Well it is certainly the best vented dainese boot , but I’m not sure how much that will improve your situation . On a fully faired bike you usually don’t get too much wind onto the boots . Hard to call , but hey if you are in the market for new ones anyway this might be it 😀
Great review! I had a crash at UMC turn 5 going 60mph after another guy lost the side cover on his engine and dumped a line of oil that I lost the front on. Wearing a pair of Sidi Vertigo books that took a hard hit as the peg broke right away in the slide and the bike came down on my foot. Since then I've realized that none of the boots available protect your foot from impact on the top. Do any of these have more than just a layer of leather over the top of your foot?
Top of the foot are rare impact zones just like the belly on a race suit, thus they are protected less. The Axial D1 has 2 layers of leather there, so should stop some penetration, but for blunt impact right on the top of the foot it will still do very little :( They could add a lot of padding there but then shifting would be impossibly vague, so it makes sense why boots have little protection right on top.

I was in an early 2000's Joe Rocket suit which didn't have any sliders on the shoulders or elbows to keep from catching on the asphalt so during the slide once I came out from under the bike I started to tumble. Newer gear, even the age of yours, with the plastic or titanium sliders over the shoulder, I doubt I would have tumbled and with an Alpinestars airbag it would've protected the shoulder so I wouldn't have ended up with a separated shoulder! I'll be interested in how things turn out with your insurance. I didn't file a claim because my gear was more damaged than the bike and they wouldn't cover gear. Bike only needed new sliders and rear set.
hi, i dont know if you have a solution for the sole yet but i come from downhill skating and there you also use your foot for braking. There are so called Brake Soles that you glue to the sole of your sneakers or the shoes you are skating with and they are pretty resistant while also being flexible so you dont feel the extra sole.

i just recently tried Alpinestars at the shop and honestly they fit super large compared to Dainese. Not the SMX but similar boot - size 12 US was massive
Hi there, if it is just a bit snug you can lean forward / reduce the angle between your foot and chin to close it easier. But if your calve is wider than the opening you can a) tailor the boot or b) use a boot that has an adjustable top opening.
I am looking for a boot for the street, to wear under dainese "slim" riding jeans. I hope you can offer your answers: 1. Do you think the Torque would fit under the Jean? 2. You discussed the ventilation of the Torque on hot track days... but how would they do in the California "cold" (50F) for sport touring? Do you think the vents would make the feet too cold in CA winter? Thank you!!
The Dainese "IN" boots fit better under Jeans. The normal boots could fit but you'll need quite some room in your jeans around your ankle . The temperature is hard to gauge for me , as it depends so much on you bike. Do you ride a super hot liter bike? Then you probably get a lot of heat on it. Or do you ride a bike with a lot of wind protection at your feet area ? If you ride a lot at 50F days I'd recommend not perforated boots. If you mostly ride in the heat of the summer I'd go for the cooler ones. It will be always a compromise .
@@MonoMoto hey thanks! The Torque D1 (I think) is non-perforated but does have that venting system with that plastic intake vent on the instep area. Does that flow a lot of air similar to a standard perforated boot? I ride a ninja 400 so it doesn't block wind, and doesn't throw heat like my old R6 or a liter bike.
@@MotoMangia The plastic intake only flows a little bit of air. When it's really hot I push those boots sometimes into the wind to get really air into there but if you keep the feet close to the bike you don't feel any ventilation on those.
can I buy dianese axial d1's without the intention of buying racing pants? I just wanna ride street and tour, i noticed d1's are ce rated to 2-1-1-1, im guessing because the upper isn't 2-2-2 rated, that protection is provided by the leather racing pant should I just get something like the smx 6 v2?
well that depends entirely on how you want to use those boots. If you have no plans to ever use it with a track suit or race pants, you can use them and I know some people like to rock them under jeans, but they do have less protection than the bulkier options. These are designed to be used with track pants / suits and I'd ideally use it that way, but know people that use it in other ways too. It's up to you in the end :)

Ich denke auf jeden Fall die Misano, hat sie doch an der Vade das Leder wie eine Art Zieharmonika gestaltet. Passt die Delta 3 auch? Bei beiden Hosen steht "Anzug-Stiefel-Befestigungssystem", jedoch hat die Delta einfach nur ein doppel-Reissverschlusssystem, wie die Pony, bei welcher der Stiefel nicht so passt. Daher habe ich bei der Delta Sorge. Ich muss schon sagen, das ist von Dainese echt unglücklich gemacht, wieso schreiben die das beim Stiefel nicht einfach dazu? Ich hoffe Du kannst mir helfen! Dainese antwortet nicht....

@@MonoMoto Ja danke, Dainese vor Ort konnte mir helfen, grundsätzlich passen alle mit zwei Reissverschlüssen, sicherer ist die MISANO, welche diese Steppung hinten im Leder hat(Ziehamonika). Die Pony hat innen kein Klett, sodass das Futter mit der Zeit vom Axialklett zerstört würde. Manmanman...da braucht man ja n Doktortitel....

I have the torque D1 in-boots and have trouble zipping them all the way up. Maybe because of my larger calves not sure.

Just for the record, not every axial d1 boot is made in Italy. I have bought axial d1 boots in july 2022 and they are made in Romania.
Odd they used to be made only in Italy. Your right boot has not a little Italian flag on the rear zipper area ?
Inside boot is that small spec sheet note and there it says "made in Romania".
