This video is Part 1 of 5 foundations. From which, strong characters may be inherently developed. I was tired of only finding "quick tips" to develop good characters online, so I made this set of videos to dive deep into methods for crafting good characters.
Character Webbing is a concept where your characters surround a theme or moral argument within your story. Through the comparisons of these characters, stronger characters will emerge by showing what a character isn't, instead of showing only what the character is.

Truly amazing lesson. Characters all with a perspective on the main theme as comparison. Seems like it's often done subconsciously but knowing that it exists as a dynamic makes it so much clearer.

If you want to know what moral argument, I recommend book “Moral Premise”.
In short there are vice statement and virtue statement. Every character in a story practices vice, but after moment of grace (midpoint), character practice virtue. With villain all is in reverse.
It’s very simplified explanation, I really recommend to read the book.

If the theme of a movie is "The Coming of Age", How does an old imprisoned man in the "black cauldron" or a veteran spice smuggler in "Star wars" suppose to be webbed into the theme as supporting characters? They are not coming of age, fat millennium falcon has shipped long ago.?
Your perspective on Aladdin does work, But that is because you don't have to be any certain age to be imprisoned. How does a coming of age tell supposed to incorporate good supporting characters? I hope you respond and good job on the video as a whole.

How would you breakdown The B Rabbit character and his love interest in 8 Mile in relation the the theme/moral argument? Just like Aladdin and Princess Jasmine were trying to free themselves, Eminem and Brittany Murphy's characters were both trying to pursue their dreams but how were they they same and how were they different in relation to their approach and drive of the theme?

Hey! Really it comes down to time. But I continue to write, read and critique other authors' work. There are a few video ideas I have in mind but I'm still fleshing out my own writing methodology.

I'm not convinced of your argument here, that the character bible technique is WRONG and somehow leads to less compelling characters. Especially in the case of fantasy, writers benefit from knowing a great deal about the individual details of a character before they become interconnected with others, if they ever do at all. The characters are people, and even in life people are individuals before they are part of communities, again if they ever are at all, and sometimes in spite of being born into them. In fact, I would argue that the mark of a good writer is giving individuals a compelling reason to be a part of a community while still maintaining their individuality.
I think you should be careful saying something is wrong, as in this case. You're advocating removing a tool from writers' collection that is useful, instead of leaving the option to use it and others.
I think you're right that details are nice to have. There's nothing inherently wrong with having a ton of details to characters. Details can add interesting tidbits about someone, but simply listing out a grocery list of assorted facts will not create a compelling character on its own. A reader won't care if a character is right handed or has blue eyes or likes stuffed animals.
A reader will care about the struggles your character faces and how that character chooses to overcome them. Character webbing enhances this by having all the characters foil one another.
The idea is that every story has some kind of theme embedded. By having your characters each have a stance in the theme, we're able to quickly understand the challenges your character faces in different ways. To understand a character means to build empathy for a character. If we empathize with a character, we will feel a connection.
The content of your videos is great and very insightful. But the audio is really bad and makes hearing you not interesting at all. Improving those things would turn this into an amazing channel.
I appreciate the feedback. There's a lot of things on my channel that aren't exactly 'up to par' but I'm trying to grow as a creator. Speaking was never one of my strengths but it's something I think I've come a long ways with. Hopefully you'll stick around and learn with me.
