Pretty important point is the ap cost for consuming corpses and eating brothers; Nachzehrers can only move 1 tile and consume and can only swallow brothers directly adjacent to them. In many cases level 1 Zehrers move faster than their more dangerous brethren and end their turn on a corpse without eating it, making it inaccessible for other Nachzehrers, which actually makes archers quite useful in fighting mixed groups. I usually go 6 archers or hybrids with 4 greatswords as the core and 2 hammerers holding the edges, knocking back level 3 Zehrers to stop them from swallowing my brothers. Main danger, as Filthy said, is them eating so many brothers, that your dps can´t keep up to get them out before being digested, so my tactic is stopping them from ending turn next to my bros and if that fails, massive arrow-fire to get my bros back on the field. Another tactic is a frontline with adrenaline-cleaver bros, hacking them to pieces, but that is a very niche build, that doesn´t work well against other threats.
long time late, but spears are hugely important for early fights vs these guys I think. Spear walls will deny area, but more importantly the morale of these things is pretty garbage and a couple well placed spear walls will swiftly have most of the horde at wavering or breaking or even fleeing morale.
Imagin, being a mercenary, having killed houndreds of men and beasts alike but then, you're not only being swallowed by a Nachzehrer but your brethren care not enough about you and let him run off with you, so your inevitable death will be caused by slow ingestion of the beasts. Bet that isn't shown in any contract you signed :D
It seems that sword can damage a bros if he was inside the monster and the hit killed the one devouring a brother lol. The proc of that sword does friendly dmg in that case lol. Not sure if that's intended.
So out of curiosity, if I CANNOT find anything better to do in my general vicinity, would it be better to travel damn near halfway across the map or just take the mission to fight these guys for xp and a bit of gold?

I think taunting also protects you from getting eaten. Then the T3 Nachzehrer will attack your Mega and refrain from eating a bro.

Corpse baiting and Using archers to slim em down is good. But yeah dont kill any where you cant defend the corpse because they get strong fast
