I've now tried this. I put a small batch in a first container, to prevent dust/ lint, with a desiccant sachet, to absorb any humidity.
Takes over 24 hours to set, in Australian spring temps. Also stays a bit tacky, and soft enough to take on the texture of the surface it's on. I'm going to try a coating of the hard Mod Podge to seal the edges and harden the faces. Might also try without the container, to see if it sets quicker.

How did that go using the hard mod podge on edges & faces? I'm in Australia too 🙂

@@Andrew-ns3su I've done it for various games like Dune: Imperium, The Loop, The Crew and Cerebria. Getting a consistent thickness is a bit of a challenge. I don't like the tackiness after it sets - they can stick together, which can cause issues. I've been sanding them when they're set, with four grades of paper; it's a lot of work but gives a really nice finish. The edge can Mod Podged without much issue.

So you sand after using the hard Mod podge? How do you apply it?

    • @5L04d3s
      @5L04d3s Рік тому

@@Andrew-ns3su it's a squeezy bottle, with a narrow spout. You just squeeze it straight out of the bottle. Just got to be careful with bubbles.

Yeah I have a bottle of the dimensional magic already. I was asking about the hard mod podge, I should've been clearer in my question. How do you apply that & do you sand that afterwards?

This is great! I've been thinking about making a foam insert for my Lords of Waterdeep and ditching the plastic one it came with (I just want to be able to store my game on its side 😫). I'd love to do this with all the little pieces (at least the jewels).
How are they holding up now? I've seen talk of that type of modge podge yellowing over time. May I also ask what the Sharpie step is for? Is it to protect the edges or just to add visual dimension?

    • @CoolGuysWhoSitAtHome

They are holding up great, no yellowing at all. The sharpie is just for visual appeal. Glad this was useful for you!!!

Hi, what did you use to apply the liquid? Also was it straight out of the bottle or did you dilute the mod podge in any way?
What kind of mod podge did you use. Thanks, great vid.

I did this upgrade to my tokens of Marvel Champions with the same product linked above, but my tokens are still a bit cloudy after 2 days, is that normal?

Does this protect the edges at all? I've seen people use super glue on the edges after the sharpie step.
I like the finish this provides just wondering if combining the techniques might be wise.

  • @tat2dfreak3

Are they still cloudy? I have double sided, odd shaped (not 100% round) tokens, so... Would this work on both sides? How about the edge?

Ours are not cloudy at all crystal clear. -Aaron

Someone else who did this used super glue on the edges, after the resin dried on both sides of the tokens.

You could maybe use the mod podge on the edges? What's the reasoning for using the sharpie?
