Monochrome images are always so powerful. I think we can all agree that buying the Q2 Monochrome was a good move and now we can't wait to see the magic. This episode is definitely a great start. From the intro to the photos, everything looks so beautiful. You got lucky with the weather, but not so much with the waffle. Nevertheless, the new snowy weather could create some beautiful scenes😉
Hi Alexandru and thanks ! :) I agree with you regarding the monochrome images (it just hits different:) ) Well there is a new VERY SHORT video with snowy weather in Brussels coming very soon to the channel :) Thanks again for the support ! :)
Nice new street photography camera you have congratulations, it's my first leica camera 2022 of November or December I think, it is nice for night time and strong harsh light the contrast and shadow and light capture by it so nice, but I sold it because, sometimes I want to shoot colored photos and I stopped shooting at night lately, abd battery life of leica Q2 monochrome is good enough sometimes 1 battery can survive half a day shooting or more it depends on your usage but yiu can't always leave the camera on and walk around. That's the reason I upgraded to leica m11. But still I miss leica Q series when you like to have Autofocus and doing run and gun style of street photography especially at night. That's my struggle now on my leica m11. But I enjoy it 😅😊📸👍
I think everyone that watches, deep down, really wants to be Octavian Carare. ;-) The shot with guy having his jacket zip done up for him was terrific. I loved that one especially. Such clean images from the monochrome. What an amazing camera.... when paired with the right photographer.
Thanks a lot Steve :) I love it how everybody prefers different images from the same video. That means I have a very eclectic style (I am not sure that's a good thing) :)) It is an amazing camera, specially at high ISO. Cheers ! See you soon :)
I love black & white photography. They are timeless. I sometimes shoot black & white photos. Congrats with your new Leica Q2 Monochrome. I am also thinking of upgrading myself to q3 but it’s too expensive. Maybe someday😂
Well if you like BW pictures you will probably like the next video (from Athens) coming this week. I love shooting with the Q2M, wonderful camera. Q3 is not a choice for me to be honest, don't like the design as much as I do in the Q2 and I am not finding the back titly screen helpful :) Cheers !
Beginning with a wonderful movie..... Love the movement in nos. 3 & 4 ! The child in no. 5 is a lovely photo, no. 10 is great but hey, you can't post no. 12 🤣 Okay then, the mysterious no. 19, a beauty too ! That was it, as always, a great show if you Leica't or not !
Thank you very much! :) I am glad you enjoyed this one too. I really need time to film a short slow mo movie at a certain point :) Well, I still Leica and now with my new Q2M I just love it :) Tot ziens !
I'm surprised you can produce such great pictures - without having a waffle! 😂 Is there really a big difference between the b/w from the M and just converting to b/w from the Q2? Is there a big difference at high ISOs? I think I'd miss the option to shoot colour although I like b/w too. I'll stick to my Q3. 😀
I have owned the Q2 Mono for two years, it has opened up a whole new world to me and a pleasure in taking photos that I have never had with other cameras. If you are careful to always underexpose the shot, then with LR some wonderful grays come out
Hi Alfonso ! :) I fully agree with you regarding the opening a new world and about underexposing the shots :) I guess it will take some time for me to get used shooting and thinking in BW but what an experience it is. I love this camera so far :)
Lovely shots as always. I find that with my Q2M it's best to underexpose quite a bit which means the shots don't look great in camera but come to life in post because the amount you can pull out of the shadows is crazy. Still getting used to it.
Totally agree with you Robin regarding the underxposing part. Me too. I would probably try to put a red filter on it to get more contrast and see how it works :) Cheers
I absolutely loved this video. I was lucky enough to get a Q2 Monochrom shortly after release date and shot over 15000 photographs with it. In August 2023 I bought a Leica M11 Monochrom and didn’t pick up the Q2M again. I sold the Q2M few months after but I do miss the handling and ease of shooting with it. Looking forward to the new content in 2024.
Thanks a lot Sam ! :) At least 4 people told me that they had the same itinerary as you and Leica Q2M is only a brief stop beforge getting the Leica M11M hehe. I don't have the budget for a Leica M11M to be honest and I guess going from a Q2M AF to a M11 takes some time to get used with it. I have briefly tested the M11M and loved it but I am not quite ready to make the move :). Cheers ! BTW, nice channel :) subscribed !

Congrats on 10K subs, Octavian🎉! Onward and upward. Maybe it’s just me, but I get the distinct impression that the images from your new camera have a wider dynamic range. Photo 5 is an example and a fav. Do you find the same? Pic 7, star effect also cool and best of that series, IMO - more of a halo effect. Clever mattress chase.😊 When you bring the B&W pics into Lightroom do you still have a color tint/grading option (e.g., sepia)? Monochromatic = all one hue, not necessarily only B&W. Do color adjustments still have contrast effects as if you had used red or green filters on the lens - if that makes sense? Good that you still have color options (as well as a mono mode) in the XT-4. Some shots we preview in color just don’t work as well in monochrome. Versatility an issue. Are there no “all night waffle” shops in Brussels?😊 Double up next time. Cheers!
Thank you Paul :) Appreciate it and you have contributed as well to the 10k threshold :). It has a better dynamic range if you underexpose :) if you blow out the highlights then you can't bring it back. No, I don't have any colour tint / grading option but you have these in the camera :) sepia, cool tone, etc. I don't quite fancy them to be honest. I know this area very well, between Mont des Arts and Galerie du Roi... it's amazing what you manage to capture! Great suggestion Mutlu ! That's a pretty good idea for a short video. I will give it a thought. But having a Monochrome camera is not all about the end result, the BW images. I guess it is more about shooting only BW and thinking only on BW terms. Some people call this freedom by limitation :) We will see about that.

Thanks ! :) Probably there will be a Q3M soon but again, the tilt screen is not for me :) and I got a pretty good price on this second hand Q2M :) I am happy with the purchase so far
That’s absolutely true :) but you don’t get the exact same results. Not having an anti aliasing filter on the Q2M, image quality is improved, it handles noise way better than any colour camera and finally it is a whole different experience shooting and thinking in BW :). How is the battery life?
Great ! It was really cold that evening and battery drains faster but with two batteries you can shoot a full day in long summer days. !
16 and 18 are great.
Maybe there will be a Q3M soon. Who knows?
Thanks ! :) Probably there will be a Q3M soon but again, the tilt screen is not for me :) and I got a pretty good price on this second hand Q2M :) I am happy with the purchase so far
Ya id like to get a Q2 monochrome as well
It's brilliant ! However, before buying it, try maybe to test it out for couple of hours :) Cheers !
12) If looks could kill... 🙂
Hahah true
It's a no return path to M11M.
Hi Jimmy :) You are the 3rd of 4th telling me this in the comments :) Lots of people traded / sold the Q2M for the M11M :)
u can just turn on bw in color leica
That’s absolutely true :) but you don’t get the exact same results. Not having an anti aliasing filter on the Q2M, image quality is improved, it handles noise way better than any colour camera and finally it is a whole different experience shooting and thinking in BW :). But sure you can just shoot BW with any camera
no wayyyy copycat 😅🤍🤍
Wish you maximum joy my friend.. (so now you won't ask to buy mine no more 😅)
Ahahaha I was tired of asking you if you sell it :)). Indeed :))
Merci 🤩 Dan
