People may agree or disagree, but when I hear the lyrics "We killed*slayed* the dragon," I see Sauron being the dragon that was slain, though it took them over three thousand years to do it since his spirit surivied all thanks to the One Ring, if I am correct. It makes sense if you think of it like that. It makes sense to me.
