Skylights With Electrochromic Glass Electrochromic Glass Technology allows homeowners to use a remote control to tint skylight glass from clear to dark without losing the view to the sky Energy efficiency, water tightness, sound reduction and other factors such as load and wind resistance are important considerations. Explore additional options such as shading, UV coatings and ventilation. Also, many manufacturers offer high-quality products made from sustainable materials in an effort to protect the environment. Installing a skylight is a serious undertaking, and you want to make sure you'll be satisfied with your decision later on. Skylight placement is determined mainly by the placement of your home's rafters. Plan accordingly and keep a space plan or blueprint handy before you start cutting out sections of your roof. Rain and bad weather can seriously hinder the project or even make it impossible to continue if moisture gets in midway through the installation process. Be sure your ladder is the right type and height, and that you are wearing footwear with the proper traction. Depending on the slope of your roof, you may want to consider using roof jacks to support a 2" x 12" board to stand on while you work -- when doing so, secure the roof jacks with nails and make sure the nails are driven into the roof joists and not just through the sheathing. There are a vast number of flashing kits available that are specific to a particular pitch, so be sure you have the right information so you can make an educated decision. Once you've removed the interior sheathing, drive four nails or screws in the corners of the box outline you've marked for the skylight. This will make it easier to locate the skylight opening from the roof.

Hi Danny i need the fist video of How to build your own sky light Thanks
Awesome bulid, I wonder if you could use some kind of plexiglass as replacement for the glass.
i made one using a 3/16" sheet of plexi or polycarbonate(it was free; not sure what it is. think it is plexi.) on my garage roof for about 4-5 years now. big maple overhanging it and dropping branches. glass would have been broken by now. also simple to cut to any dimension you want...also slightly better thermal properties than glass, if that's a consideration.
Thank you very much i am going to do it your style in my building project. I hope you are okey with it.Thanks again and regards from north Iran.
The cigarette!
makes me anxious ... this isn't a video for novice as mentioned .. Why double framing ?! is there a reason or just lack of material , whats the purpose of the second plank fitted inside at 6:10 ?! ... if the two sides will get wet , they will draw moisture in between .. Correct me if im wrong
If flashed properly with vapour barrier and then lead or fibreglass flashing etc then it shouldn't..
Excuse me, What do you use, for Paste the glass to the wood?, pLease
putty
Thickness of the glass sir?
Best comment at the 4:40 mark “you don’t want something stupid sitting on your roof”....... too late Jethro! Lmao. How much mold has built up in that skylight of your? Leave it to the pros.
YOU RIGHT Brother!
