How is this not more popular? The editing is top tier and the amount of effort he puts in is unbelievable!
Cause it was uploaded 5 minutes ago😐
@@KarmaBS123Ik but only an hour in and only 500 views?! Compared to some creators that don’t put any hard work into their content that’s unacceptable.
@@KippylalaYTtbf people just don’t get instantly popular, it takes time no matter how good they are at making content, and the upload schedule is questionable although it is game development so it would take a while
@@bottleofcatIk but with the quality of this dudes content over all his vids, it’s consistent and impressive to the level of UA-camrs with much higher subscriber counts. I just thought heaps gave maybe at the very least 100k with this level of content creating.
My brother in Christ. The video is not even 12 hours old
It's actually really refreshing to see an indie game that's not a pixel art roguelike or dungeon crawler. Awesome vid!
I don't even know what rogue like is anymore😂. ''this is a city builder, rogue like, turn-based, low poly, evolution simulator''
i like how he makes all this in blender and i would struggle to make a blob monster
The waxy green can be lime dew, drippy black can be ink spot, the fluorescent blue can be called electric tears and the pink sponge can be the candy blossom
incredible naming
Dang I called the black mushroom melting chocolate
Heres an idea flushy yellow
Thanks@@PicklePlayzRobloxI appreciate this
Pshaw it doesn't matter@@venkataallampudi2374Plus still cool name
Dude, this is one of the few games I'm genuinely hyped for.
(Also, can you call the pink mushrooms Candy Caps? Like the Death Cap mushroom, but you know, not lethal?)
Your file directory madness is so relatable. I have 3 folders in "/Animations/" titled "Player" "Player Sprite" and "Player Animation." Every time I need the ACTUAL player animation I just guess which one it's in.
YAYYY NO MONTHLY FEE FROM ADOBE 🎉
"These are just basic spherical rocks that I smooshed down and stacked on top of each other".
As a geologist you'd be amazed at how much geomorphology takes place with. That. Exact. Process. You just described a very basic version of the sedimentary lithification process and metamorphism.
This video is edited sooooo good. Also thx for all the tips. You did a really great job!
I lauged on how you kept me engaged. You could sell glasses to a blind kid
I love this! I have this idea for a game in my head that I wish I could make look this good. Frogs can be just like rocks that sit still on the lily pads, if you just add croaking sound effects near the pond, it does a lot of ‘adding life’ for you instead of trying to animate them. Well, maybe a blink or two wouldn’t hurt.
Top notch devlog! Really enjoyed how you were able to go in depth while still keeping a nice fast pace. Looking forward to the next one!
I’m not sure if it’d be feasible, but if you want the player to be able to catch up with the panda in unique ways, maybe make hidden passages that could incentivize memorizing the map. 👀
Love the trees!
Drippy black mushroom= Weeping Night, spongy pink= Fluffduster Fungus, fluorescent blue= Blueshroom
The bit at 2:44 was well done. Especially the abrupt cut. Visuals are looking great, keep up the good work!!
You're subbed to this guy?
1:41 cheers for the hot tip, and thanks for the tears of laughter. Dude just chilling behind the bin lmao
Might be a little silly, but for atmosphere I suggest adding some cloud planes (sort of like the fog planes but in the islands) and particles that fade away as you get close to them, to sort of sell the idea better that the islands are floating high in the sky when seen from a distance. It will also help making it feel larger.
At 10:00 you can sort of imagine the vista and imagine some clouds floating and enveloping the terrain and swaying in the wind, especially the farther parts. I think this will make it feel way more "grounded" (no pun intended) and atmospheric.
gamedev game presentation overdelivery style gotta luv it
Beautiful! And the editing is great too, congrats on your progress
The redesign of the whole thing is insaaaaane and it looks so pretty too sheeeeesh
Good job with the foliage, everything looks great.
Those trees came out so well, but I can feel the anxiety through that speed run explanation 🙃
Thank you for explaining everything. Maybe one day I will make something too 😊 good luck on your projects
Fantastic job! Fantastic editing! Fantastic personality! Everything here is just SUPER FANTASTIC!
This game needs a vr version
I love your style of making videos. It is genuinely fun to watch this, for me.
The environments look great! They remind me a bit of the witness but with subtle stylistic difference
Man I look forward to play this game so much
The mushroom island is definitely my favorite!
The new assets looks great. Very nice color combos as well
For the pink mushrooms you should call them Crystal caps
I love this guys videos . Remember waterfall can
Thank you for this update video. (:
These aren’t good ideas but here you go anyway: the swamp guys island has a bit of humidity so it’s a little more foggy the deeper you get into the island, and themed bridges for each island. The desert has a bone bridge, the mine has a rock/stone bridge, the mushroom has a soft/mushroom type of bridge, and the swamp has a crystal bridge over grown with swamp plants like veins and stuff.
those are pretty good ideas man
Looking great, that's what progress is all about.
New trees look good!
man this looks incredible btw something i always love is that the map change at night so new plavces our secret paths
I gotta say, this is actually beautiful designs
The game just got an infinit improvement, its almost like a whole different game. It looks so great now and I want to play it ^^
How don't you have more subscribers? This video is great! The editting is amazing!
I remember watching Knightly Routine when it was literally new.. wow this is crazy and looks so much cooler. Still waiting for the final product.
The editing, and the quality, the humor and only this many subs?? Damn bro, you got a sub within the first minute of the clip holy!
this is so cool! i hope you get recognized man ❤
Absolutely in love with the new art direction. Great job!
Damn man, great job. I've been wanting to get into gamedev for a while to make a game that looks something like what you've made here. This gorgeous shrunken down world with several biomes. Looks stunning!
Just discovered your channel, subscribed in a minute, this is exactly my content❤
Hey great work!
A tip: the trees switch their LOD in a snappy way, u can easily fix that my enabling "dither lod transitions" in the master material of the tree :)
I was playing around with that, but I don't know if it's worth the performance drop- if you dither the transition it has to render both tree LODs at the same time during the transition, and since the trees can get so dense it greatly increases the number of trees and polygons being rendered in the scene at any given time
@ShawcatDev Damm you know ur stuff , anyways great video m8 I like the editing style keep going 👍👍
4 min in, this goes crazy. i think everything is so cute and like, good job on the trees i hate making trees
This is absolutely nuts. Love the new visuals. This game looks gorgeous!
it's just one guy doing all of this and the montage youtube! well done !
I looove world building and map creation! Really enjoyed watching your level design, it's looking great!
Not sure of the vibe you’re going for with naming the mushrooms, but here’s my take:
Waxy Green -> Applecaps
Drippy Black -> Tarnations
Fluorescent Blue -> Glowbrites
Spongy Pink -> Poptops
Hopefully none of those are just ripped from some subconscious memory of someone else’s IP, but they seem fitting based on the aesthetics. Keep up the good work!
You are doing amazing! If you ever need any music for the game, I would love to help out.
wow, this looks incredible. love the art style!
This is pretty good as a devlog. Good balance between the technical and not, so that non-techy's could follow it. I'm building an adventure game (in the planning stages so nothing to show yet), and am going to devlog it -- so I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I want it to be accessible to more than just devs, but anyone who's just interested in how something's made. Good job!
Really cool video with nice editing. Severely underrated!
As a 13 year old 3:21 was the best frame of the whole devlog
Did you forget to include that substance painter still costs $200 when you buy it on steam, and you have to rebuy it for every update...
Do you *have* to? Or can you just use that version indefinitely?
@@theencoder6992 You can keep using the same version of substance but you have to rebuy it if you want to update to a newer release, the greed of adobe is baffling.
Random idea: You should make a unique plant that only spawns once randomly in the entire map that has a secret bonus or something
Very impressive, and nice result. Congrats!
There's no way I didn't know about substance on steam
I just randomly found this video while searching for some devlogs and man thank you, you just motivated me to start 3D modeling again, I always end up taking assets and get done with level design so i cn simply focus on adding more features in my game but you just reminded me the freedom one can get by creating it's own models and those textures really nice
looking forward to your developments aswell and now I am a shamefull person
why does this guys put so much effort into his trees and gamefreak breaks themselfes all their fingers trying to make 1 good tree model
The amount of work you've put into remaking the game and into this UA-cam video is unbelievable. You deserve way more than 89k subscribers, you really are underrated.
I added this to my wishlist I hope it comes out soon.
Wow dude, huge upgrade incredible job
Wow, awesome improvement, it looks sooo much better!! Congrats!! If I can recommend something to take it to the next level it would be adding some color/hue variation, specially in the leaves of the trees so the detail won't be so lost in one vig clump of the same solid color. Bit other than that this looks really really awesome! I especially love the new mushrooms ❤
If you’re in the fantasy world at night, you should make some of the plants glow!
I cant wait to binge all your videos im on the start of my own journey !
Thanks for making this awesome content
dude youre dangerously good, I usually listen devlogs when i am working on my game but i ended up looking on your video instead of doing work :D :D :D
The new environment looks awesome! I'm very intimidated by 3D modelling and texturing so took the easier route of doing pixel art for my game but the way you explain your process makes it seem very achievable! Maybe it is worth giving 3D a try...
the wind effect is awesome looking
First good unreal engine video because you actually made the assets yourself
man the quality of your videos is insane. I feel like if you were making videos on something other than a niche like gamedev you could be a pretty sizeable youtuber.
Fire devlog🔥
All the new stuff looks amazing! Except maybe the stacked sand rocks look a little out of place just in my opinion, BUT the rest looks top notch. Keep it up!
YOU ARE UNDERRATED! OMG YOU ARE GREAT!
It looks so good !
The new assets look great !
I personally liked the old cartoony background and map vibe but the new one isn’t bad.
I love your vids keep it up I'm trying to make a game now and you were part of the inspiration behind me starting
Super cool game idea and great editing. Subbed
Dude you’re killing it!
Cattails should only really be growing on waters edges. They're a type of reed (grass that grows exclusively in/near water)
this video is amazingly edited good job, the music is really fun
Mate, loved this video. Makes me want to dig back into unreal. FYI I think the plant you're looking for the name of is Eucalyptus.
This was a really fun video 😊
Wow I love your artstyle!! Where did you learn that? It looks so good.
Lovely video btw
The panda now seems to small for this environment…
I’m inspired, brother. Huzzah!
the wii sports music at the end is gonna make me cry
Hey man! i really like your vids, its really entertaining and fun to watch!
Please remake subspace continuum game from my childhood
Maybe since there’s no main danger you should add a boss every 20 nights, it could be a tree and the attacks should be like undertale where it attacks and it gets tired and also maybe is branches when they are like broken or something that signals he’s about to be tired and you can hit him and also grapple on to the branches if they are weak.
I don't know why YT suggested this yo me, but i am glad he did.the game looks cool by the way 👍
Whowah, this looks really prettyy!
If the pink mushroom isn't named harold in the final game imma cry
1:12 - that's one of the cleanest Unreal projects I've seen :D
Btw anyone else is naming important folders 00_Bluprints, 00_Meshes, ...
4:35 That plant looks like some sort of eucalyptus
damn your art and modeling is good
