I don't think you understand what those verses are talking about RESPECTFULLY....those verses are talking about the children of Israel who God loves, but at the same time punished for following after the ways of the other nations, God turned his back on them and allowed the nation to come against them which ultimately ended up in the children of Israel being taking captive out of their homeland and scattered amongst all nations and became gentiles. At this point in history the other nations understood that God took his protection away from the children of Israel due to the disobedience of the previous generations, so the other nations would make a pact to no matter what beefs they may have moving forward,they would all agree that they would make the children of Israel forget who they are and stay in transgression of God's law which is the definition of a sin, (see palms 83). To super impose that God has somehow changed his love or hate rather for Esau with those verses is an EXTREME FAIL. it shows me that you don't know the bible in it's proper context, you just apply everything written to everyone, when it doesn't work like that. Please check the original text that was translated and look for the word "hate". The original word used for hate is preference for the purpose of God. Jesus never show that God hate anybody. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Just not sure about the part on being at peace when God chooses not to show mercy. I will continue to think about this but I feel that that eternal sense of mercy is what characterizes God for me. But mercy doesn’t always look the way we think. God may not spare someone’s life but I believe even in death God will give them the choice to still remain with God by accepting the acknowledgment of the evil they did. This is what repentance means to me at the end of one’s life. That one is able to be shown by God what evil they did and own up to it and recognize what truly is Divine and what is not. Failure to do that would result in eternal separation from God bc they chose that. So yes to mercy being eternal and to us praying for an end to all wars and harm and suffering for all humans. I don’t believe God hates anyone.

I think the issue for most people is they already feel like there’s a chance God hates them. We feel this way due to guilt, sin, etc. so if we’re told, “god doesn’t love everyone” we may think “oh yeah that’s gotta be me. I bet he hates me so why would I run toward a God who hates me and waste my time?” And it pushes us away. I also wonder if it makes some feel that they are allowed to hate others since God hates some people. But if we are allowed to hate then how are we different from the world? 🤯. How do I know if God loves me? I’m not trying to argue, just trying to understand. And for those that God hates, do they have any hope of receiving God’s love? Thanks for the New Testament (there are many more) scriptures that point to the relevance of what Christ has done to appease God's judgment and His anger/ hatred toward men. This is to say David knows all about God and His thoughts which is inaccurate. It’s also written that we only in part. That’s like Job said, “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away” which is also inaccurate. Job said that not God. Does God like everyone? No, but HE IS Love. The Bible is a reference point of God has to say or think but it’s not all He has to say. Yet, if anything is contrary to that reference point then it’s inaccurate. It’s not written the specific words He said to create all that created but we know He did and it wasn’t in English. This is dangerous to say without full context or understanding. There is something seriously wrong with your intellect if you truly believe God hates certain people, especially prior to their birth. A person’s understanding of God says so much more about themselves than it does about God.
The one thing I love about the Bible is that it’s for everybody. You can literally make it say anything you want to say. Like Myron says, you can make the Bible say that God doesn’t love everybody. But you can also find other scriptures that say that God does love everybody. The question I would ask for everyone to consider, is, who did Jesus hate? Because if Jesus is the human form of God, and Jesus loved all that he encountered (sometimes his love was tough), then where does that leave room for God to hate people? Again, as you have your walk with Christ, you’ll fall in line to a method that works for YOU! You might need a God that hates some people… that’s cool! Or you might need a God that loves all.. Great! Just realize that other people don’t have to be wrong for you to be right. I love Myron, but don’t always agree with him… Great! But I’m definitely not delusional or arrogant to think that God loves all. It’s written in the Bible just as prevalently as the verses that say God hates some. Just find what works for you and roll with it! Last note… in regards to Jacob and Esau… you should check out the life of Esau, whom God “hated.” Dude lived a pretty spectacular and prosperous life and was the father of many nations himself. It's more about "what" than it is about "who" actually, because if you believe "God is no respector of persons", then righteousness comes about by keeping and practicing the laws and principles that do not change. That said, the prayer goes... "OUR Father..." not "My Father or Your Father". How does a Father loving all his children make his love lose its value? I don't think you understand what those verses are talking about RESPECTFULLY....those verses are talking about the children of Israel who God loves, but at the same time punished for following after the ways of the other nations, God turned his back on them and allowed the nation to come against them which ultimately ended up in the children of Israel being taking captive out of their homeland and scattered amongst all nations and became gentiles. At this point in history the other nations understood that God took his protection away from the children of Israel due to the disobedience of the previous generations, so the other nations would make a pact to no matter what beefs they may have moving forward,they would all agree that they would make the children of Israel forget who they are and stay in transgression of God's law which is the definition of a sin, (see palms 83). Please check the original text that was translated and look for the word "hate". The original word used for hate is preference for the purpose of God. Jesus never show that God hate anybody. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Just not sure about the part on being at peace when God chooses not to show mercy. I will continue to think about this but I feel that that eternal sense of mercy is what characterizes God for me. But mercy doesn’t always look the way we think. God may not spare someone’s life but I believe even in death God will give them the choice to still remain with God by accepting the acknowledgment of the evil they did. This is what repentance means to me at the end of one’s life. That one is able to be shown by God what evil they did and own up to it and recognize what truly is Divine and what is not. Failure to do that would result in eternal separation from God bc they chose that.
So yes to mercy being eternal and to us praying for an end to all wars and harm and suffering for all humans. I don’t believe God hates anyone.

I think the issue for most people is they already feel like there’s a chance God hates them. We feel this way due to guilt, sin, etc. so if we’re told, “god doesn’t love everyone” we may think “oh yeah that’s gotta be me. I bet he hates me so why would I run toward a God who hates me and waste my time?” And it pushes us away. I also wonder if it makes some feel that they are allowed to hate others since God hates some people. But if we are allowed to hate then how are we different from the world? 🤯. How do I know if God loves me? I’m not trying to argue, just trying to understand. And for those that God hates, do they have any hope of receiving God’s love? I love God, (imperfectly however) but what if he doesn’t love me?

It’s important to note that hate in Hebrew is different than hate in English.
“SANE” = Avoid, Reject, Deny, Ignore

There’s a big difference between loving a person and loving a person’s behaviour or affirming his/her lifestyle.
In the context of John 3: 16, it is clear that God loves the whole world. He is not willing that anyone should perish and come to repentance. The saddest part, is that you have no ability to understand what this says about you, that this is what you believe love is. That you believe this is what goodness is, and how corrupted and incapable of self-reflection that shows you to be. A person’s understanding of God says so much more about themselves than it does about God.
The one thing I love about the Bible is that it’s for everybody. You can literally make it say anything you want to say. Like Myron says, you can make the Bible say that God doesn’t love everybody. But you can also find other scriptures that say that God does love everybody. The question I would ask for everyone to consider, is, who did Jesus hate? Because if Jesus is the human form of God, and Jesus loved all that he encountered (sometimes his love was tough), then where does that leave room for God to hate people? Again, as you have your walk with Christ, you’ll fall in line to a method that works for YOU! You might need a God that hates some people… that’s cool! Or you might need a God that loves all.. Great! Just realize that other people don’t have to be wrong for you to be right. I love Myron, but don’t always agree with him… Great! The Bible clearly says God ‘hates’ evil(Psalm 97:10). God wouldn’t command that we should love our enemies if He Himself didn’t love His enemies(Matthew 5:43-48). We hate what God hates, evil, and we love what God loves, each other. God wishes that all might be saved(1 Timothy 2), which tells us that God loves all mankind. That means All sin is forgiven, all punishment is spared, and all inequity is removed through the love of Jesus.

God doesn’t hate you. He hates iniquity, sin, and transgressions. That’s why we constantly have to repent and the Lord Jesus blood atones for when we fall short. He puts us through tests and challenges and long suffering because it’s a part of his will. We all just have to accept his word doesn’t bend for any of us . We have to live in truth. God loved the people who killed Jesus and rejoiced about Him being killed. Because He loves His word and His word asked for their sins to be forgiven because they knew not what they did. They werent enlightened therefore they were in darkness or ignorance. David saying God hates ppl in his prayers is not the same as God saying He hates people. If you dont read the Bible in isolation its pretty clear that God so loved His creation that He kept trying to save them and sent Jesus to make a way to ensure they could be forgiven. God is constantly showing His mercy and ability to forgive and relent on His wrath because of His love. God wants us to turn back to Him so He can save us because He loves us so much He wants to save us. He wants EVERYONE to hear the gospel (the good news that God wants us to turn back to Him and wants to love us) because He loves us. their is a duality of this that folks don't seem to grab... yes its whosoever calls on him, God will save... BUT God also predestined those he saved... THEREFORE... the "whosoever" is a mystery to US, but not to GOD. whoever puts their trust on him WILL be saved, but by nature of how God is sovereignly in control, HE didn't choose everyone... SO it's not really that he died for everyone in the way we understand what everyone means... he died for those he predestined to be with HIM for ETERNITY.

God knows who will make it and who will not but the bible does not teach that anyone was born to be lost and he has no way of changing that. that would violate the principle of choice that God is a huge proponent of.

This message was a much needed reminder for ME of who God REALLY is and who I am. I am grateful. I am undeserving of anything but His disdain. It was some years ago at a bible study that the "weight" of Romans 9 crushed me. Who is Clifton that thou art mindful of him????? And we humans so arrogantly go about life on tHIS planet as if it is US who has made us. Between this, Dharius Daniels sermon this morning AND Thrive 23, I am beyond overwhelmed by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And the fact that God has even allowed me to be exposed to all of this over and these two men over the last 18 months makes ZERO sense to me based on what I know about God. I appreciate this POV but I find it incomplete in some respects. It's more about "what" than it is about "who" actually, because if you believe "God is no respector of persons", then righteousness comes about by keeping and practicing the laws and principles that do not change. That said, the prayer goes... "OUR Father..." not "My Father or Your Father". How does a Father loving all his children make his love lose its value? This would negate principles underpinning the parable of the Prodigal Son altogether.
