I'm so glad I finally learned why HF is famous. I saw him in smaller parts in movies or guest starred on tv shows & I said this guy is not just some character actor he just seems more than that. Then I finally stumbled upon a video that he was a major talent that broke down doors for gay people by getting his play on Broadway. I still wonder if the voice is natuarally like that or did he smoke a lot ?
He’s just really adorkably cute here! I can see why they picked Michael Urie to be the new Arnold beckoff 35 years later. Wonder if urie will get a tony nomination for his portrayal of Arnold beckoff or even win. They do share a good amount of mannerisms, only urie lacks the deep gravelly voice/whatever slight speech impediment that Harvey has, plus his facial features are more softer.
Roughly twenty-three years later (2006), Mark Hamill's co-star in 'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi' ian McDiarmid wins the Tony Award for Best Performance by Supporting Actor in a Play for his portrayal of 'Teddy' in 'The Faith Healer.'
Will Michael urie also be nominated and hopefully win a tony as well for his take on Arnold on 2nd stage once it comes to broadway? I hope so, heard he is really good.
I must admit I am even more excited to see Mark Hamill in his Mozart costume - something I would have died for to see!
I was thinking the exact same thing....4 years later
My absolute idol ! Torch Song Trilogy helped me find myself as a gay man and changed my life.

Its naturally like that, he has an extra layer of his throat (I think)
His voice is naturally hoarse but the smoking made it worse.
Come for the young Harvey clip. Stay for Mark Hamilton over here.
So nice. He is amazing.

Somehow Mark looks more like a camp icon than Harvey here.

Will Michael urie receive a tony nomination for playing Arnold beckoff in the new production on broadway? I hope so.
😍
His voice doesn't sound as raspy as it did 10 years later.
“Buy your friends an Easter egg for Christmas!” 😆
@@bradleycotton3237 Easter eggs are useful as can be.
I much preferred the Tonys in a real Broadway theatre.
Why isn't he hosting the Tony's?
