Anyone that dislikes this video for any reason obviously has never owned a border collie. I have 2 and believe me when I say that all these dogs want to do is work and please it's owners. They are too smart for their own good and are extremely neurotic! Best dogs on the entire face of the planet!!
The thing I love most about this video is that Nana is clearly having tons of fun learning and performing these tricks. Nothing better than a happy pupil!
Like wow...still wiping tears from my eyes...I have had border collies over the years but sadly not now for 16 years... video brought everything back. None of these moves are a result of cruelty I will confirm, the breed loves to interact. I am a builder & upon occasions my Collie, Winston, would clim a ladder onto scaffolding to be along side of me such is their desire to be with me... he had to be carried back down upon my shoulders. Many other things he invented himself...Thank you so much.
I am not a dog person, but WOW!! Nana is a BRILLIANT dog, and you can tell she is well loved, the joy she expresses doing the tricks, and her tail wag..she's won my heart!
My son was about 18 months old when we went somewhere that we needed him quiet for a couple of minutes. We searched UA-cam for a video with a dog (he loves dogs); it came up with Nana. He turned 2 today, and doesn't have many words yet, but he does clearly ask for "Nana" and points to the phone or computer to ask to see your wonderful dog!! He laughs and dances while he watches her! She's adorable!!!
As an owner of two Border Collies I have a special affection for this video. I love the dog and you obviously put a great deal of hard work into training her. Well done.
Wow Nana is incredibly beautiful and intelligent. Her facial expression when she looks at you is almost as if she is capable of all the human emotions and feelings. She has such a wonderful spirit to her it's so remarkable.
My friend raises border collies for sheep and cow herding, and I've seen them do some impressive things, like jumping over fences and into pickups and running a specific direction around a herd of sheep and laying down on the spot instantly. Amazing dogs, border collies.
some of the tricks she does.. She has alot of trust within you and her and i am soo happy to see that you and Nana are both happy together and the trust she has makes me wanna cry! I love all dogs.
OMG so much happiness, fun, and companionship... you really get a sense tat Nana just thrives on these tricks. What a beautiful dog, congratulations and thanks for sharing!
That's pretty sweet to see someone so dedicated to their pets, to to spend probably a year SNF a half just working with them. Takes true dedication! Great job and awesome dog!
Thanks for posting it. We love watching Nana perform. She is pure love. We miss our border collie who died 6 months ago and watching Nana made us smile!
Beautiful, beautiful dog and one of my favourite breeds too. Awesome that you've managed to teach her so many things and that she obviously loves doing them for you.
So amazing !! I used to have border collie and I've never forgotten her, she was like a human with a human look, she learnt anything with little training she just wanted us to be happy and was an incredible dog, this video is so wonderful blessings for you to make Nana so happy
In response to Sara Beth Cox's comment (which I am unable to reply to): The coffee table trick is a fun and colourful way for the dog to practise impulse control. This is the same concept behind the "treat balance & catch" trick, as well as halting on cue whilst chasing after a stimulus (toy, squirrel, car, etc.). Impulse control is an extremely important skill for any dog to have that could save the dog's life. There are many fun ways to practise impulse control, including following cues before retrieving a favourite toy (as outlined in this video of Nana, at around 0:24: ua-cam.com/video/cwzBT_Pv-qI/v-deo.html) or with simple, fun tricks such as the coffee table trick. Nana gets rewarded royally after removing the items from her bottom, no worries. ;) And trust me, if she didn't enjoy doing the trick, she wouldn't do it. End of story.
Awesome job! As a trainer and owner of Border collies, I watch this with tears of missing as well as joy. I miss my Border Collies I have had and love the aging ones I still have. But am overwhelmed with joy watching you do so much stuff with your dog. Keep it up please.
You and your amazing Nana are wonderful. She's obviously well cared for and loved. You spend so much time with her and it shows. Absolutely loved it. Thanks for posting.
An incredible list of tricks and behaviors. On average how long does it take for her to learn each one? And definitely yes: give them love and pawsitive reinforcement and you've got a true friend for life. Two paws up for Nana!!
beautiful dog! you keep her coat shiny and clean and I can tell that she loves pleasing you with tricks like these! you trained her very nicely. that takes so much patience :)
Nana inspired me to actually work with my dog and the more I worked with my BC/german shepherd I learned more about my dog and now have a job volenteer ing with a local dog trainer and my dream now is to be a dog trainer. Thank you.
They're fantastic dogs and the most intelligent breed. Our Oz who was a Border Collie pasted away on Tuesday. He gave everyone joy and outsmarted us at the best of times. Fantastic video she's beautiful.
she is amazing- but I will say n o matter how smart the dog - no dog would ever be doing this without the total love and support of their humans-this is obviously an adored dog- so beautiful to see
A video like this may give people the inclination that a border collie is very easy to train and won't take much effort. I think it's extremely important to stress to people it is imperative that you do your research before picking up a Border Collie. NanaBorderCollie has devoted her life to dog training and I'm sure she will agree that Border Collies are amazing dogs, but they simply aren't for everyone. I want one very badly, but I know my life isn't ready for a PBBC. I'm hoping to find one mixed down with Bernese because of their lovely temperament. If you're reading this, and you think you want a Border Collie, consider getting something mixed down, and get a rescue!!!
This dog is amazing and just beautiful. Looks so healthy and content. Obviously great owners because a dog reflects its owners. Well done on raising such a lovely dog.
You and Nana inspired me so much!! This video is the reason why I started training my own dog Tess (border collie) and I really enjoy training her. At this moment Tess knows about 120 - 130 dog tricks, and she is still learning new ones. I even made a video of her. Thanks for inspiring me, and good luck with training your pets :)
AMAZING!!!! You must be so proud, you can see how happy she is to be performing these tricks for you. Not a chore but play time with intelligence. Good on you.
That's what you call a dog. JK every dog should be themselves,it a part of them. no matter what they can or can't do, we love them so much..although that is a pretty useful ad awesome dog..:D
Thank You! Thank You! She is such a beautiful and loving dog! They all are if we love them right. Positive clicker training is the key and TONS of love and encouragement. Makes me want to go and get a border collie, I almost did last time but got another english setter who was a smart as Nana. I finally put her down after 13 wonderful wonderful years. She's still on my desktop! and when her pic comes up it;s like she's still here! Thanks again for happiness!
What a wonderful video! Border collies need to work or they go insane. I miss my Australian Shepherds so much. Very much like a BC, but not quite so driven.
Totally enjoyed watching sweet Nana. She is obviously very eager and energetic. You can see the intelligence in her eyes. Did you know that though he never owned one, but they were James Herriot's (Alfred Wight) favorite dog breed? He said they were just amazing to watch and they certainly are! I saw your comment about Letterman, but has she ever been featured in other TV shows or films? I sure wish you could train me on how to train! :) Thanks so much for promoting positive reinforcement and sharing this with us.
Yes, Nana (and my other animals) has done many TV shows and film projects. I will be putting together a list of my animals' appearances on their official website (www.UseYourClicker.com).
could you make videos on how you train nana she is so awesome when I grow up I want to be a dog trainer I been training my Chihuahua :) and I think im not that bad but your the best dog trainer ever :o
Border collies absolutely need mental stimulation. The more you challenge them, the happier they are. That's just my experience from growing up with a border collie/sheltie mix. Humans feel the same need all the time, so it really shouldn't be difficult to understand. Nana has got to be one of the happiest dogs on earth.
If you spend that much time with your (animal) I happen to favor dogs myself, with that much love and encouragement incredible things are going to happen. Your nana and my nana were complete opposite but she was just as amazing to me as your nana is to you. Your just one of the lucky ones that it shows on the outside of your dog! Good job! Don't bother your self with any thing negative.
Nana is so happy, she was definitely brought home to the right house. She brings happy tears to my eyes every day
Like wow...still wiping tears from my eyes...I have had border collies over the years but sadly not now for 16 years... video brought everything back.

Many other things he invented himself...Thank you so much.
The only thing that keeps me from getting a border collie is that I cant stand losing at chess.
LOL! Okay, you killed me with that one!!!
I am not a dog person, but WOW!! Nana is a BRILLIANT dog, and you can tell she is well loved, the joy she expresses doing the tricks, and her tail wag..she's won my heart!

As an owner of two Border Collies I have a special affection for this video. I love the dog and you obviously put a great deal of hard work into training her. Well done.

Do you ever take her to nursing homes? She would really make the seniors happy.
Love seeing a BC owner utilizing the genius that they are. Well done cheers!
Such a happy video. Can't help but smile while watching it.

Nana is the cutest Border Collie!
Holy shit. Incredible training! I haven't been so impressed since skid boot! This collies back of tricks might even be more impressive.
Awesome job! As a trainer and owner of Border collies, I watch this with tears of missing as well as joy. I miss my Border Collies I have had and love the aging ones I still have. But am overwhelmed with joy watching you do so much stuff with your dog. Keep it up please.
