This is a young channel that appears to have some funding and produces very high quality content with excellent production standards. However, they need to have tighter editorial control of their scripts.
This is the second video where two statements made immediately stood out and caused me to stop and review it because it seemed inaccurate. The first being at 1:35, “In late 1941 the Imperial Navy delivered a surprising blow to American domination of the Pacific Ocean by destroying most of their fleet at the Pearl Harbor base in Hawaii.” The Imperial Navy did not destroy “most of their [U.S.] fleet”. All three carriers were not present, nor were any of the 12 heavy cruisers. Of the 21 ships hit all but 3 eventually returned to service, most in 1942. “Most of the fleet” is very inaccurate. Again, I point this out because I was only paying half attention, I was cooking while listening, but it caught my ear immediately if it did to me it will to others as well and this is the type of error which seems small but history buffs will definitely notice and goes to credibility of the channel. If you lose credibility you will lose subscribers, patrons and views.
The second incidence was at 6:57 when discussing Potsdam, “Truman mentioned to Stalin that the United States had a powerful new weapon without giving details. Stalin acted like he didn’t care but he was secretly and told his scientists to work faster on their own bomb.” This a slightly finer point and one of omission. Stalin knew about the Manhattan Project and the Trinity Test because of the spies identified in the Venona Project. To say just that Stalin showed disinterest without mentioning the spying that was actively providing him with current information as well as technical data is simply too significant a point to gloss over.
Keep going but PLEASE exercise a higher level of editorial review.
