Hi there, I'd like to become a patreon to get these presets. Just wondering if you'd be so kind as to provide a link to where i would download these presets once I have subscribed? I can't seem to find them on patreon.
Loved this. Such a fabulous instrument for a musician who loves getting lost in the moment of musical inspiration and creation, without needing to be a virtuoso on any particular instrument. Happens to me every time I sit down with it. And the possibilities are limitless. Appreciate the share.
I feel like this is a perfect instrument for you, and I absolutely love how play it! You make the strange familiar and inviting, even nostalgic. I hope this ks a successful instrument for SOMA. I really so love their ideas even of they are understandably priced at a level that's a commitment I can't easily make and not really what I'm looking for, but I absolutely love that they exist for the musicians who do love their explorations!
With your skills and song writing techniques, this synth could be called the Vangelis machine. You have managed to create huge soundscapes with such small tools.
I wasn't convinced it would work, but had the chance to play one last weekend. Ordered my own a few hours later. So much fun, and it plays and sounds awesome.
I feel like a Terra and a Mood mkII would be enough for me to sell off like 75% of my weird gear (despite loving what I've accumulated). Such a brilliant instrument.
I feel like that about the Lyra 8 and Mood mkII. I prefer the Lyra's timbre, and form factor. But the Terra is lovely for sure. Would like a Cosmos too though. They're builders of fascinating instruments, rather than just being technological tools. It's great that new instruments like these are being designed and built. Or even hats off to Moog too, for making the Subharmonicon. Or Boss' DM-101 is a nice surprise too. The small boutique builders are waking up the music giants.
I've had mine for about a month and it is truly a joy to play. For me the sounds are perfect but I can sort of understand why it's not for everyone-- the things I truly love rarely are LOL. Anyway, was glad to see your video and glad to see you seem to also love it.
Terra is a paradigm shift in human to instrument connection and interaction. It benefits are only fully shown when one doesn't necessarily play it in a traditional way by playing staccato or normal long notes, but when at the same time playing the notes and modulating the parameters on the left side; that's when Terra really unleashes its full sonic potential and blows your mind
Lovely overview of Terra. Such an awesome instrument. Sometimes when I look at Terra I wonder if it still makes sense to make Wiggler, but the two are very different. Terra has much more abstract control of the sound, whereas Wiggler is super literal like an analog synth. And I think Wiggler is a bit more optimized for vibrato. After Wiggler I'd like to make a more abstract synth engine like Terra, because for a truly expressive synth the patch is often too complex to describe in 10-20 knobs.
LOVE the sounds you're getting out of it! Really really inspiring, the microtonal tuning brings an odd nostalgia with it I can't really explain and I love that so much Great work, thanks for showing the Terra!
Really cool instrument! I thought from the thumbnail that I was looking at a closeup of the backside a very old, strangely shaped brown circuit board a few centimeters across, with gold solder points. This video was very different from what I expected and I’m so glad I watched! 🙂
The wood with the White stone houses and the cat. Shows to me how plastic has dominated our touch sensation so much. I love this interface and I really hope vlad will consider a cv controller like this. No sounds. A breakout cable to a distribution station. Like a new take on The buchla thunder. As it is this instrument is another masterclass in thinking outside the box. Literally ! I mean look at the box. Hats off vlad and thank you for this lovely demo. I like the idea of this filling your evenings with a nice glass of wine after a day by the sea :)
This video was like a present, a gift to the listener, revealing music from a new instrument that really feels nice from your hands to our ears. Thank you!
Once again Soma is really forward-thinking with their concepts. I do wish it had more customizability with its presets as you can only change a few parameters. But it just may not be for me in that regard.
God I love this thing.... the sounds are so 'out there', like not of this realm (even though its name is 'Terra' 🙂. Looks a little bit like 'Italia' in the background. Wherever it is, nice place!

The regular people still have to eat, and pay the bills, no? Maybe it could be possible to separate the Russian businesses who seem to be warmongering, or instigating, or taking advantage of the situation, from people who aren't doing that? IOW, will boycotting SOMA help end the invasion sooner? Other than by starving the people and making them desperate, which won't happen, so it shouldn't be considered. @@Peter_S_ Let's translate your comment into something you can understand. You're using the internet, something created by DARPA (an R&D agency of the US Department of Defense to create products for the US military) in the 1970s. Every time you watch a US-made film, you're providing money to film studios, which in turn provides money for the US government. And, every time you speak English, you're allowing the Americans to have some soft power. Do you see how ridiculous this is now? I do get your stance (after all, the government of Russia has decided to invade Ukraine), but boycotting a boutique synth company isn't going to stop the Russian government from manufacturing weapons, bombing, and sending troops to Ukraine. All it's going to do is starve the people working there, and they may be anti-war. They just want to make a good synth that people can use to express themselves. Not everything that comes out of Russia is bad. Being born in a specific country isn't and shouldn't be a crime. Also, by lumping a nation's people together as a monolith, you're doing the exact thing that the Russian government is doing to the people of Ukraine. Labeling them as XYZ, dehumanising them with slurs, excluding them because they're not "your kind". Don't be that kind of person. I can understand the anger, especially if you're Ukrainian, but please don't direct it at the Russian people. They didn't choose their government (elections are rigged in Russia), and they don't want this war. The supporters of this are a very vocal minority, and even then, people are forced to go to pro-government rallies or they lose their jobs, so they reluctantly go. Not everything is black and white. This is especially true for the Russian people.
@@GizzyDillespee based take. i really hate people like that, who think just by boycotting one small company who's probably making small little blips in government money terms, they can somehow convince the Russian government that to stop sending troops.
