  • Stitches has been a rising hit, and Shawn Mendes totally rocks it with this one. I wanted to put my violin remix twist on it and see what you thought! Enjoy :)

HI david i'm huge fan of you . i love you solo and loop . everything is so nice to me . i noticed you use 5 string violin a lot . dont you get confused ? i mean left elbow position etc . i going to buy a 5 string violin . does it have same size to standard violin ? how did you feel about them two ? totally diffent instrument ? if i learn 5string violin . would that somehow effecting my violin skill in bad way ? this means a lot to me . looking for your answer ~ thanks !

+Spirit Food I love the 5 string violins! It's balanced differently than a regular violin and if you have a more traditional violin teacher I'd run it by them first-I know my violin teacher would have thrown a fit if I had shown up in a lesson with a 5 string(!)
but if you're self-taught, or working on your own, using a 5 string is a great way to add some bass-especially since the main issue most violinists have is making their music sound full enough.
It's different than a regular violin, but not significantly, and won't affect your playing significantly or be confusing-and in some ways can even improve your "regular" violin technique-because the strings are spaced slightly closer than regular 4-strings, it increases your awareness of distance between strings.

+Spirit Food Spot on reply! :) Yes, better to get used to the 4 strings and, eventually, if it's something you really want, then slowly check out some different options. For me, the 5 string is most important if I'm looping, so I have that extra bass.

David Wong is the 5 string you use bigger than the 4 string? the 5 strings I've tried were around the same size

Dude that was the BEST cover of this song I've heard! Massive points for doing it on a violin which already sounds beautiful combined with the melody. I love that you went all freestyle in several areas as well and think creativity like that is a must! Awesome job man, truly!

It won't sound just like the original since its a cover. With vocals the melody stays about the same but the lyrics change to keep it interesting; for an instrumental there are no lyrics so adding notes; double stops, other dynamics, and embellishing the melody keeps it interesting.
