I hope you guys get this figured out. Seems promising. I have an Ampero that is working nicely for my needs. I was looking at this for the capture ability. I want a few more amps and cabs than my Ampero offers now.
The latest firmware update (3.1) on the Helix (I have a floor) is killer. The oversampling to me made a huge difference and the Dynamic Hall reverb is awesome. It definitely breathed new life into it. Not sure I’ll even want to look elsewhere.
HI Bradford, hi Brian. This was an extremelly cool and informative video, espesially the part where you compared it to Axe III. I think everyone does. I also saw that you have all the best devices out there (Axe, kemper, helix and now QC) and have used them for some time, what can you say? If I want the best compact modeller (FM3/QC/HX Stomp) which one would you choose? I dont have or havent tried any of them, but I think it will be: 1. QC/FM3 (depends on the features, PERSONALLY I'm not intersted in captures or profiles) 2. HX Stomp And maybe an unusuall question now. Which one had better FACTORY cab simulations in your opinion, FM3 or Quad Cortex? Best regards guys, thanks in advance for your answer. Looking forward to new videos about QC.
I'm still leaning towards an Axe FX III or FM3. This unit will probably be fully baked when the next Fractal unit is shipping on a regular basis. Neural prove me wrong.

I have the HX FX and I'm considering just this. The Quad Cortex has some advantages that really intrigue me though, but some limitations and let downs too
I have been using an Iridium with some of my pedals (including the HX FX) for the last year. Prior to that I had a Kemper, AX8 and a Helix floor. I still have the Helix floor but I haven’t used it much lately. The Iridium sounds so good! I run it straight into the house in stereo. I have been totally satisfied. I will say that the recent Helix firmware update 3.1 was a fantastic improvement. The oversampling greatly improved the quality of the sound. I will probably use it more now. With the Iridium and Helix I am well satisfied and have everything I need. I’m not into gear chasing just because it’s the latest thing.
@@jammer777 That's good to hear! A killer combo with Iridium and HX FX. I was also considering Iridium because all the clips of it sound so good, but leaning on FM3 at the moment for versatility. Might still change my mind tho haha

@@bmitchellmusic I think the Nueral stuff is great and has some serious potential but I would severely miss my scribble strips. Given the size of the QC with its capability of capturing amps and effects, it’ll be a useful tool. I just think it’s a couple of updates shy of its full ability.
@@worshiptutorials oh goodness. I hope I get it soon. It sounds so so good. You guys just ran it right into your Apollo? I have a similar set up so I’m curious if it’s gonna sound great just running into the Apollo
I went through that same stage, I've had the stomp for about a year. My advice is learn how to use/buy IR''s and you can make it sound like a real amp. A full Helix and this Quad aren't worth over $1000 more than the stomp yet, dont get sucked in.
Ha no where the same to me. On paper, sure. But Kemper slays as a pedal platform to me. It’s why I use it 90% of the time. As an all-in-one? I’ll most certainly grab a Helix. Or an Axe-FX. But none of em give me what a Kemper gives me.
It definitely can come down to preference, though. While Bradford would pick Kemper, I (Brian) would pick Fractal 100% of the time. For us, a big factor will be how the Quad Cortex captures we make compare to those two platforms.

You can’t trust anything the government tells you these days. With a survival rate of COVID of over 99% it makes no sense.
Why? Kemper is still a major contender. Just because this is a new release, comparison after comparison shows that the tonal quality of the amps and effects are not vastly superior. In addition, Kempers have been on the market, used, updated and engineered for ten years! At the end of the day, the Kemper profiles can be adjusted to be almost indistinguishable from any model on the QC. Not to mention the in depth levels of articulation and defining of sound and tone that Kemper offers. Granted, I get there are a few things that QC offers such as wifi connection, but at the end of the day I would never sell my Kemper just to buy a QC. If you really want a QC I would buy it, but not at the expense of losing another legendary piece of gear that still has years and years of significant use!
From what we understand it’s not a DSP (CPU) issue, but rather a RAM issue. If you pull up the CPU usage on this patch, it’s barely over 50%. But it’s still a limitation that they can hopefully work out.
It’s difficult to say because the algorithms they all wrote use DSP differently. QC is the most powerful of them all, but at its current firmware you aren’t able to do as much with it as Helix, and especially not Axe-FX iii. I understand they are working on the reverbs to make them more efficient
