Inspection of Ormoc Airport 10/20/2022

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, together with the local government officials of Ormoc City, conducts an inspection of the ongoing Ormoc Airport Development Project situated at Barangay Airport in Ormoc City, Leyte on October 20, 2022.
Funded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the ongoing project covers an improvement of the Airport’s landing area, expansion of apron and construction of taxiway which is expected to be completed in April 2023.
The project also includes an expansion of the Airport’s existing 2.042 kilometers by 36 meters runway to 2.1 kilometers by 45 meters to accommodate commercial aircraft, such as the Airbus 320 and 321 as part of its long-term plan.
Other development projects include the construction of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) control tower building, power house, transformer yard box, culvert and strip grade correction.
Once fully operational, the Airport would not only benefit Ormoc City and nearby towns in northwest Leyte, but also passengers from Biliran Province. Talks of opening the Manila-Ormoc route with airline companies are already underway.
