Why were the Beatles so loved, when there were so many other artists out there? The early Beatles were so upbeat, that their music just made you happy.
In so many respects-performing, singing, writing, stage presence, novelty, hair and clothing, recognizability, promotion, the right hits at the right times, the right venues at the right times, humor and personalities, ages, looks, the head start and practice they got in Hamburg, their interpersonal interactions, their contagious love of music-making together, the stagecraft and presentation Brian Epstein gave them, cultural timing, the collaboration with George Martin-they were the perfect storm. At the time they were as much a cultural phenomenon as a musical phenomenon. Their songwriting is good because they had good and practiced ears, a sense of tunefulness and freshness, good arranging sense, high standards, a savvy sense of what would please the public, originality and cleverness with lyrics, and of course they were a wonderful performing machine for presenting their own material. The machine worked quite well until Beatlemania screaming took the fun out of live performance for them, driving them solely into the studio, and until Epstein died, which left them rudderless and split their energy toward business as well as studio musician existence.
I think it's equalized when mixing again and the volume has been turned up. But I don't hear it that clearly either, I hear some quite unpleasant digital hisses...
@britt2001b You are so close to being able to create true discrete multi channel/quad/5.1 mixes…better than Giles’ reverb rear channel debacles. Now that YT streams multitracks, how about giving it a try?
@@3DBlastDotCom I really haven't been attracted to multi channel 5.1 type of mixes. The discrete Quadrophonic releases from the 70's didn't really knock me over either. But you're right. After these recordings have been de-mixed and isolated into separate tracks it could be easily done. I haven't heard any of Giles' 5.1 mixes but apparently he's trying to create an live feel with reverb in the rear channels. Don't think I would do it that way. My approach would be to put the listener on stage or in the studio right in the middle of John, Paul, George and Ringo. Not sure if it would work, but it would be fun! Thanks for the suggestion!

I remember Beatle Mania and there is nothing that compares to it today. Even in the 80’s Michael Jackson couldn’t compare to it. I remember watching them the 1st time they were on Ed Sullivan and just being mesmerized. There was no crimes committed that night in the whole US because everyone was inside at home watching the Beatles. I remember crying when they broke up and didn’t want to believe it at first. Then I cried again when John was assassinated because he lost his life so unnecessarily and because I knew they would never play together again. All of them had started getting along again and I thought there could have been a chance. I still have all my Beatle albums, every one of them. All that being said in my book I wrote here,😂 well done they never sounded better!♥️
A classic rock and roll recording. Sheena's sultry vocal and the solid vocal and instrumental backing combine to create a memorable listening experience.
It's definitely his best take. I believe I have every studio take they did during that session, and this solo was way beyond any other that he undertook.
it is truly one of his greatest solos. however, consider that this song, unlike many others, wasn't recorded until they had played it countless times live since its writing in early 1962. if you listen to some of the early live Hamburg or Cavern versions, George hasn't worked out the lead part let, and it sounds pretty clunky and aimless. buy by the time this was recorded, it was stellar. by contrast, consider that in the studio during the 1964-1966 years, he had sometimes less than a day to come up w/ a lead for one of Paul or John's songs.
I have always loved his playing. He is my favorite member of the band and the primary reason I got into guitar. His contributions are regularly my favorite part of songs.
The standards by this Band is simply jaw dropping from both a vocal and musical standpoint......timeless like we were there yesterday . For those who took the ride we can never fully explain what it was ......
