Thank you for this lovely video. We don't need high rise buildings as in modern cities. Better is wide streets small houses and traditional markets simple life as you have shown in Tanga. My parents lived in Chumbageni, I was born in Kidugalo sisal estate in Morogoro District. Lived in Tanga for few years left Tanga for India in 1945 , my father died in Tanga in 1958 , I visited Tanga in February 1986 to see where my father worked and where his body was cremated on February 4th, 1958.
I love Tanga my parents lived there they left Tanga in 1958 after my father dried in Tanga. Father was working in sisal plantation. Those were beautiful times.
Thank you for making this video! My father was born in Tanga in the 50's and we had such a great time watching this and seeing the area he grew up around (and even the building he lived in for a few years on Market Street).
In your introduction of Tanga, you mentioned all early settlers - but forgot to mention the people from the Indian sub-continent. Surely, the contribution of the Asian community in Tanga was enormous in pre and post independent period of Tanga's history. They contributed, and continue to contribute, much to the agricultural and industrial development of Tanga and the surrounding areas.
Salaam Alaikum. The Indians as a whole have treated the local people badly. They are racists. They came thrte to escape from the harsh life in India, not because they care.gor black.people.
I am from Kerala, the southern state India. I had been in this beautiful port city many times long back in 2013-14. Our company was engaged in talks with the Tanzanian government and the Tanga regional administration for the development projects including the that of the Tanga seaport, airport etc. But things stalled after a political change in Dodoma. I still remmeber the beautiful days I spent in Tanga. We stayed most of the time in Tanga Beach Resort and MeKonga hotel adjacent to the port. To my surprise some of the staff members including the manager of the hotel were from my state.
Great! glad you remember the beautiful days in Tanga. Maybe your company can reengage in talks with the current Tanzanian Government for development projects.
@@InspireForTravel Of course they can! And I think they are still engaged in talks with the political leadership of Tanzania. But I am no more a part of that company now. I remember we visited the outskirts of Tanga, Zimba Cement factory, port, airport and lot other places like Pangani etc. I can't forget those memorable days! The Bhandari house you showed in the video incited a lot of memories in me! We visited the office of the port authority many times. But I still have some personal contact there in Dar Es Salaam. I will definitely visit Dar Es Salaam, Tanga and Arusha again one day. Thank you for the memories!

Nice video but please show all street signs as you film for us to get our bearings. Tanga is famous for the first Railway in East Africa, which was built by Germans in 1898 towards Mount Kilimanjaro called the Usambara Railway. The Railway was completed in 1902 or so and instrumental in the Battle for Tanga when a British Indian force landed in Tanga in November 1914 to wrest it from the Germans. Many Indian Sepoys died in the battle and are buried in Imperial War graves in Tanga.
Low-rise buildings are much healthier for the environment and do not block a great deal of sunlight. Whereas, high-rise buildings block a very lot of sunlight and are very unhealthy for the environment. A great deal of carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere that is caused by the man-made method of heating and cooling system high-rises use. The more high-rise building a country has the greater the carbon dioxide in the air we breathe. Low-rise buildings can easily be kept warm and cool and thus, less carbon dioxide is released into the air. I believe that the way in which many African countries build low-rise buildings shows how healthy the people and their environments are.
