I like those o 3 speed manual on the column transmissions. They're fun to drive. The shift pattern is like a sideways capital letter H. I can tell that vehicle is a 1984 GMC fullsize pickup. 1984 was the first year for black windshield wiper arms & blades, & the last year for ones with those designs too. 1984 was also the first year for windshield wiper & high beam low beam light switches on the steering column. Before that, the windshield wiper switch was on the dash, & the high beam low beam light switch was a little button down on the floor you press with your foot.

I had one once. It was a 64 Ford. Fun to drive, but only got 10 miles to the gallon.

There’s no way I could drive that truck, the shifter would be in my lap whenever I’d go for 1st, or 3rd gear. I grew up driving a 1972 ford pickup, I enjoyed seeing this guy out driving around in his old treasure.

Last one I seen my brother had an early 80's 6 cylinder 3 on a tree. I drove it once the clutch almost took 2 legs to push it in. I miss the 88 s 10 5 speed stick I was driving then. No frills and inexpensive.

My parents had a series of 1960s GMC suburbans and pickups. I learned to drive at nine years old in a near new 1965 suburban. Years later my older sister came up with the observation that the women of our family have a condition called clutch leg. This condition is easily diagnosed by overly developed calve muscles in the left leg. A few years ago my 60 something year old niece was at a church meeting and considered telling the clutch leg story. She looked at her left leg and decided against it. 45 years of driving cars with slush box transmissions had taken their toll.

My dad taught me to drive in one like it. This video put me right next to him for a minute. 🥲
