  • What better way to celebrate summer than with good food, good people and once in a lifetime outdoor setting? I can't think of anything, which is why I was so excited to join one of the legendary outdoor feasts put on by Outstanding in the Field.
    Jim Denevan, Outstanding in the Field founder, and his tireless team, put on a truly memorable, local farm dinners all over the country and with the goal of bringing some awareness to where our food comes from, as well as ensuring that all guests have a great time.
    From Spring to Fall, they host these outdoor dinner parties in the most spectacular locations--on sandy beaches, on rolling vineyards, olive groves and now, here in Malibu at the Thorne Family Farm. With the signature long table set up right next to the rows of vegetables and fruit trees, the evening commenced with amazing food, wine and ciders.
    Chef Jason Neroni from Rose Cafe in Venice, California, helmed the dinner--preparing most of the feast in the open air, which included pork shoulder, branzino, handmade cacio e pepe pasta and fresh salads.
    Local winery Liquid Farm supplied delicious wines and Cider House 101 brought out some of their healthy sour ciders for guests to enjoy.
    Before dinner, Larry Thorne gave us a tour of his family run farm and helped us to appreciate the bounty that was going to be put on the table for us that night.
    All in all, if Outstanding in the Field comes near your city, I suggest you get a spot at the table.
