you never know when he's kidding or being serious. that's awesome. this is what entertaiment should be: to entertain and be questioned. this is what keeps a person's attention.
I love sarcasm and Gervais with his English accent is awesome! Hope he starts another show soon. Extras was great and I understand his point about not producing too long....
I am so attracted to this guy. He is a comical genius and there is nothing sexier than humor and confidence. I love his face, hair, eyes and his serious looks scare me just a little. I would love to get to know him. He is taken and all settled. but can someone please set me up for a meet and greet?
"not like the germans to take somethin that wasnt theres" xD i love the look he gave the camera when he said it. brilliant, definitely the funniest man on earth
One of the best/funniest films ever is Life of Brian which pokes fun at religion. Gervais analysing the book of Genesis in 'Animals' show is genius. Plus check out american George Carlin amazing stand-up routines about 'the man who lives in the sky'.
what he says is so true about success in england. We resent others who are successful. I don't know why. It's ingrained deep into our culture. Can't speak for america as I've never been or stayed there for a period of time.
i love Ricky Gervais, first i liked the us. tv show and then found out about him being the mastermind behind the original, and then i found out he was an atheist just like me, that was like the cherry at the top of the cake. (metaphorically speaking, i don't like cherries)
the first 3 seasons of the german office are pretty good... and btw, i think ricky is hilarious.. and i also can laugh at a joke about my country :) germans do have humor :P
It's funny he mentions Brad Pitt. Recently I had a discussion with a friend if you had to choose between Pitt or Ricky Gervais to go out on a date.Probably I am in a minority, but I would definitely go for Ricky. He may not be a classic beauty (altough I do not find Brad Pitt attractive either), but when I go out on a date, I defnitely want to laugh and in interviews Gervais seems like a very nice and smart guy as well.
haha me too...well not as Brad but some female equivalent! The mirror bit brings me down just as bad...his face is a picture I laughed out loud at that point!
Sorry to return to this after so long, but somewhow I overlooked your response. What you have described as race and race-related is of course correct, but that is essentially an ethnographic understanding of race that stemmed from 19th c. physical anthropology etc. In late 20th c. usage especially following from post colonial studies it covers a larger ground including nationality, ethnicity and culture. Not trying to be a know-all though.
Gervais should be proud of his interview with Shandling. Gary's notoriously prickly and uncomfortable in his own skin and the two of them were a riot while they tested each other's limits. I thought it was very funny. Richard Lewis was probably pissed Ricky didn't interview him.
Haha, at 0:15 when the interviewer says, "Here are the questions," Ricky thought he said, "Hear the questions." "...Well, I will hear them, yeah. Go on."
It is correct to say who would fire whom. Who refers to the subject of the sentence and whom refers to the object of the sentence. Who and who is incorrect for the grammar police :-)
@marinejackson i think they are both very funny in their own way and i think he might be a little more clever and comedic but in all fairness they are both pretty funny
Well I can see where you're coming from and while I'm a big fan of almost everything he does (TV work, stand-up, podcasts, films) I appreciate that it would be very hard for any one thing that he does from now to live up to The Office and Extras. Having said that, there's quite a difference between what you described and calling him a "cunt". And having said THAT... he doesn't need someone like me to back him up, so I'll shut my face
Half of what makes Ricky Gervais so funny to me is his laugh. He's able to make even the most mundane comment seem hilarious because his laugh and playful mannerisms are so infectious.
There's hardly a better sound than Ricky's laughter!
Gervais is one of the greatest comedians ever!!
you never know when he's kidding or being serious. that's awesome. this is what entertaiment should be: to entertain and be questioned. this is what keeps a person's attention.
he really knows how to laugh at himself. good quality to have.
i could listen to him all day he's just so charming :)
i love this guy and i love this interview for showing a more "unrehearsed" version of Ricky
Very down to earth. Ricky is the man.
I find Ricky intelligent, beautiful, very endearing and quite hilarious.

I didn't want this interview to ever end
this guy is an absolute genius

Thanks for the catch!
He's a genius. Hilarity always insues around him.
I love sarcasm and Gervais with his English accent is awesome! Hope he starts another show soon. Extras was great and I understand his point about not producing too long....
He is the most natural funny and real guy! Love the "Gay Ant"....Ricky you are the best comedian ever!
Wow - interviewer is sooooo charismatic!
I am so attracted to this guy. He is a comical genius and there is nothing sexier than humor and confidence. I love his face, hair, eyes and his serious looks scare me just a little. I would love to get to know him. He is taken and all settled. but can someone please set me up for a meet and greet?
LOL the end with his watch!! so funnnny
love his laugh
Hilarious. He's right about the office being as good on the tenth viewing as on the first, i never get tired of it.
I love Ricky^^, he always made me laugh !
That's why Ricky's great. He's so unpretentious.
Gervais still using the "David Brent smirk at the camera" throughout the interview. Love it!
He mentions Steve at 2:00! How times have changed.
"not like the germans to take somethin that wasnt theres"
xD i love the look he gave the camera when he said it. brilliant, definitely the funniest man on earth
he is a very interesting man
definitely a genious. love him. totally
I died of laughing at the end part with watch. Oh my lord
I couldn't agree more...
Loved this interview. So funny. I don't know how the interviewer kept from laughing. Banana Splits. Killed me!
hahah i love the bit after the credits!
lmao off when he looked at his watch. very funny guy
Oh man, finally something about the Garry Shandling interview!
9:25 - 9:55 is the best part Ricky's laugh is soo contagious. It just makes me cack myself.
"it's not like the Germans to take something that wasn't theirs!" Brilliant
One of the best/funniest films ever is Life of Brian which pokes fun at religion. Gervais analysing the book of Genesis in 'Animals' show is genius. Plus check out american George Carlin amazing stand-up routines about 'the man who lives in the sky'.
Wow! His laugh is priceless!"
what he says is so true about success in england.
We resent others who are successful. I don't know why. It's ingrained deep into our culture. Can't speak for america as I've never been or stayed there for a period of time.
The end is the best bit haha
it would be great if Ricky made a show with Peter Serafinowicz
and the thing is no one comes close.. theres good comedians but this guy IS on another level and if you dont get it.. youre missing out.
haha he did the Brent 'eyes look up then down' face at 1.50
He smiles, I laugh.
He laughs, I crack up.
Love the accent
I would take him over Brad Pitt anytime.
i love Ricky Gervais, first i liked the us. tv show and then found out about him being the mastermind behind the original, and then i found out he was an atheist just like me, that was like the cherry at the top of the cake. (metaphorically speaking, i don't like cherries)
I *love* Ricky.
The last 30 seconds of this video is hilarious...
i love this maaan!
too true!!
I don't like the Office, but as a person and when he is doing stand up, he is really good.
That word is part of it's own definition.
i love hat guy
he really does!! :)
i wish he could play on one of the office eposodes as a guest or something..
luckily for me not many people I know read your little 'Time Magazine' or whatever it's called
the first 3 seasons of the german office are pretty good... and btw, i think ricky is hilarious.. and i also can laugh at a joke about my country :)
germans do have humor :P
Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. are the best comedians of today.
interviewer is great.
It's funny he mentions Brad Pitt. Recently I had a discussion with a friend if you had to choose between Pitt or Ricky Gervais to go out on a date.Probably I am in a minority, but I would definitely go for Ricky. He may not be a classic beauty (altough I do not find Brad Pitt attractive either), but when I go out on a date, I defnitely want to laugh and in interviews Gervais seems like a very nice and smart guy as well.
thx
4:40-4:47 hahaha pure Brent...
"not like the Germans to take something that isn't theirs..."
xD
Laugh's amazing. The office brit should continue...
Interviewer: "...so, Ricky, here are the questions."
[Ricky hears: so, Ricky, hear the questions]
Ricky: "What, what, what, I will hear them."
7:50 That look...
haha me too...well not as Brad but some female equivalent! The mirror bit brings me down just as bad...his face is a picture I laughed out loud at that point!
lol that made my laugh
@Jammed9000
Bit of a generalisation there! Most British comedies do more than 2 seasons from my experience. Peep Show is onto about 6 now!
David Brent et al are the best. Are you havin' a laugh?
4:42: best moment
i almost pee'd my pants with "you look like a gay ant." hahaha
Sorry to return to this after so long, but somewhow I overlooked your response. RICKY I THINK YOU LOOK FINE THE WAY YOU ARE!
Gervais should be proud of his interview with Shandling.
Gary's notoriously prickly and uncomfortable in his own skin and the two of them were a riot while they tested each other's limits. I thought it was very funny. Richard Lewis was probably pissed Ricky didn't interview him.
I think the second or third time of watching the office is the funniest
"You look like a gay ant."
"Why would he say that to me?" How sad and sweet. I love this guy! Damn he makes me laugh.
lmao hilarious!
Haha, at 0:15 when the interviewer says, "Here are the questions," Ricky thought he said, "Hear the questions."
"...Well, I will hear them, yeah. Go on."
@Kimcee4younme You've spelt Karl Pilkington wrong!
David Brent et al are the best.
who's the bloke interviewing ricky?
It is correct to say who would fire whom.
Who refers to the subject of the sentence and whom refers to the object of the sentence. Who and who is incorrect for the grammar police :-)
@marinejackson i think they are both very funny in their own way and i think he might be a little more clever and comedic but in all fairness they are both pretty funny
what I think the interviewer is quite cool and funny.
@Shesnoin is the other george carlin? or who?
Well I can see where you're coming from and while I'm a big fan of almost everything he does (TV work, stand-up, podcasts, films) I appreciate that it would be very hard for any one thing that he does from now to live up to The Office and Extras. i like ricky seems like a guy id like to meet
Who is the guy doing the interview?
LOL @ 4:30 ..... Crafty Germans!
I actually do think of him as beautiful and I wouldn't if he looked like Brad Pitt!
Half of what makes Ricky Gervais so funny to me is his laugh. He's able to make even the most mundane comment seem hilarious because his laugh and playful mannerisms are so infectious.
he is the funniest man on earth.. wait, wait.. I take that back. Karl.
shu tup dinlo's, this interview is good. the interviewer is just mimicking gervais' awkard/honest humour
