    Going to definitely start with this approach going forward. I know you have done a video on colour types but I think a lot of beginners struggle with some of the markings e.g. A blue bar, bald head or badge, with white flights and so on. I really struggle with that so I can properly describe a birds colour and markings for my records. It would be great if you could do a video on that.

    Great explanation, I love your way and I started to follow it, I have muscles males brothers crossed them with two smaller longer in body type sisters, produced 7 so far I didn’t fly them yet due to winter here in Canada but they will be my team for spring this year 2021. I don’t usually keep pigeons for breeding, I fly all from April to Oct and from Oct to March I breed, my theory that if you don’t fly then you are gone.

    Hi Smitty .Since you live in California i am pretty sure you are familiar with Iranian high flying pigeons . I would like to know your thought on high flying pigeons .I also notice how your birds roll which is different kind of roll that i experienced from the birds i had back home .I used to fly about 50 pigeons about three to four of them roll which was different kind of roll. The birds spin the one that roll fly about six to ten feet vertically then they do three to four roll and start spinning again .I was wondering if you know what causes the bird to roll different than yours.

    A second question, in Richard’s video from about seven months ago talking about the muscle breeding concept, he mentions that he outcrosses a lot in his program and that he has many birds from many different families in his loft to do that with. My understanding is you do not out-cross when you are working on this program within your families. How do you avoid some of the negative side effects of inbreeding and line breeding when you don’t outcross at all? I believe someone else raised the same or a similar question in the comments as well. Thanks much.

    • @therollerpigeonevolutionsm7763
      @therollerpigeonevolutionsm7763  5 років тому

      Using this theory out crossing is necessary in any type of line breeding if you don’t cross you will breed yourself into a corner in Richard‘s case what he was saying the original base of his family is made up of a large percentage of our crosses mostly 514 birds but they were all from different breeders but the base was 514 that is how he established. His family in the beginning if he finds a bird that has treats and attributes that he would like to bring into his family he outcrosses to bring those traits and attributes in and when he’s finished the original birds are removed keeping only those birds that show the traits that were desirable

    Smitty, about Bull eye, in pigeons, orange is Dominant to pearl or grey eyes, if you mate two birds that are Pure ( homozygous) for orange in this case, all you will get is orange eyed birds, they simply do not have anything else to offer. White on their heads have nothing to do with bull . I have right now all white headed boirds that have pearl eyes, and no bull eyes, As a matter of fact they only produce more pearl eyed ybs because that is what they have geneticaly for eye color, same if they were orange.

      Jokersalive 1 Eye sign don’t mean much. But just look out for crack eyes or bullseye. Those are traits that can be passed down to the birds offsprings. Other than that, it’s just your own perspective on pearl eye or orange etc.

      @therollerpigeonevolutionsm7763  5 років тому

      He actually breeds from a very tight group of birds now in the beginning when he was formulating his base of his family he crossed in many different birds from many different breeders mostly 514 birds but from several sources along with other families he does three-quarter mating and sister mating and in some cases a form of line breeding but he does work with a tight group of birds if he find something that he likes within another family he will introduce it without hesitation he’s constantly trying to improve his quality speed and performance

    hello, my name is dimitri , first of all i apologize for my poor english . i have one question for you and that would be where do the baby pigeons take the most of their flying skills from ? the father or the mother ? i understand that a cock determine the muscle but which one of the parents determine the flight ? thank you very much .

    • @therollerpigeonevolutionsm7763
      @therollerpigeonevolutionsm7763  5 років тому +2

      I think flying skills are something that are inherited from both parents it’s been my experience that some birds are poor flyers both of the parents may display this characteristic or only one so I think it’s one of those factors that both parents contribute to flying habits and their ability to kit

    Teoria asta este valabila la toate rasele cu joc si zbor?

    Sorry, your thoughts on what creates a bull eye, is totally off the top and not accurate. Its all about their genetics ! Thanks.

    Hi Smitty, sorry but i don't agree with this theory you are pushing. I do enjoy your videos but you do not show us the hens that produced these Muscle birds, very important factor. Why not Breed to your "Ideal" in what you want in a roller. Typically mating a overly large bird with a much smaller bird will give "unpredictability" in their offspring. Better to mate at least one that is "Ideal" in T"ype" and that is what you will do better with.

      It’s not a theory it’s my experience and that of many others I don’t disagree with your experience either
