    Thank you, so much, for doing a video on the Expressionists. :) It's long been one of my favorite schools of art - seeing what lies 'under the skin', so to speak. And their use of color as both expression and of symbol, was unprecedented. It was certainly controversial at the time, even before Hitler, but was the perfect artistic impression of the 'Great War' and of the time between the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Years ago, PBS showed an excellent documentary (available on UA-cam) of the 'Entartete Kunst' or Degenerate Art exhibition as the Nazi's response to these artists. I find it fascinating that art was considered so 'dangerous' by that regime, that they sought to both deride and stop the artists from their work. Thank you, again. :)
