Nice that pond has filled up and good to get carp in there before lily pads take over. I have trouble getting a few lily pads to grow so not an issue here. You have a lot of lily pads have to pull out thank goodness they wouldn't taking root again.. Went to family reunion Lake Winnsboro.. me and my nephew both 8yr old..we was in little styrofoam canoe.. We decided we was going to pull up a lily pad & we was determined pull that lily pad up.. finally that sucker broke loose & little styrofoam canoe went when that Lily Pad broke loose.. all in a blink of an eye me and my nephew was in the water but we had the lily pad..😂😂😂
I guess those carp are grass carp. I put two of them that were small like yours in my pond about 25 years ago, and now they are around 30 inches long. They keep it clean and during the mowing season I mow around the pond and let the grass blow into the pond and immediately they start feeding on it. I haven't made pets out of them though because they are very skittish. Sometimes I will walk up to the pond when they are at the edge and don't see me right away and I don't see them until they make a huge splash. I surprise them and they surprise me!
Curious as why you want to clean out all the lily pads? For better fishing? Seems like they would be great for the pond to provide shelter and bring in insects/frogs.
In the deep south lily pads will take a pond over destroying the ponds eco system. Go watch our video where we had the track hoe come and clean out the pond. That's what happens when you let them grow in a pond.

You should have an oxygen bubbler on that, just one for bait would do. They can run low oxygen, but that's not good for em'. [I used to trasfer & stock fish in my youth.]
@heronthere Ya, but you really should put them in a large ice chest to keep original temp as stable as possible & in original bag, add a little $10 bait bubbler, get them in the morning when it's cool, & keep them shaded until you get home. 😉

You do know that carp are a preferred fish in Europe. Rather invasive here but cold water carp taste pretty good.
