If you want to have the ultimate Pink Floyd experience, sit in a dark room, wear your headphones, and listen to Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish without pausing or stopping.
Nah, bruh...the film and the movie are all about drugs. The character is trippin' doing dope and hashish, LSD....you name it. That's why the artists could come up with that stuff. You must remember all the artists in the band came outta the 1960's hippy drug culture, boys. Come on. Wake up and smell the sinsemilla, guys.
@geneaikenii1092 Oh, I know they were high af lol. I meant myself as a listener. If you just sit with the music and have no distraction, they still take you to another place without substance. Although I imagine it's not quite the same
Ooh...one of my favorites from Floyd...so damn good, so deep. I loved just getting blazed & ending a great party night or chill night with Floyd in my ears Loud as shit or driving alone in the car down a long freeway @ night..awesome shit. If ya know, ya know. I would suggest The Wall, next. There is a vid for that one, I believe.
No one can emit more emotion from a guitar than David Gilmour...Truly one of the greatest of all time. The Pulse solo is possibly the best ever laid down in a live song
"Just a little pin-prick" refers to a hypodermic needle. The musician in this scene is almost non-functioning, so they have to inject him to get him to perform the concert. It references an actual situation where one of Pink Floyd had some sort of medical episode and had to tak something to be able to do the concert. He felt utterly wrecked the whole time, and afterwards. I wore out two vinyl albums of The Wall.
Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time, and it isn’t very close. If you haven’t checked them out Cliff you gotta do “time”, “wish you were here”, and “hey you”.
@user-lx9pw7em1z Not here to argue with you but I do disagree. The one thing I didn't like about the album version is that they faded out the outro solo too quickly. I wanted more! You get that in the Pulse version. Just personal preference though.
Absolutely more Pink Floyd. ANYTHING from the Live Pulse 94 tour concert will blow you away. Some are greater than others - but none of them are skippable. Greatest rock music all time! But remember - one does not simply listen to Pink Floyd. It is a full body experience.
NOPE. "Pulse" is a cool floyd laser lightshow live concert. and a hell of a show.....but, guys, you need to be able to understand all the songs....and the best way to do that is check out the 1983film by the same name as that album. The film is basically Pink Floyd the wall album set to music videos. The entire movie is these songs....and plus visually you are seeing what they are all about. Trust me....watch it. "Pink Floyd's The Wall" is a film that will blow you away. It is lost, for some reason to most all the newer generations. I was 16 years old in 1983 when I first saw the film. It was an underground classic, even back then. It played for years in Knoxville Tennessee. I live about an hour away in Gatlinburg. Trust this old, longhaired, hippy, rocker and check out this film....everyone. Peace Fam.
I own the ‘94 Pulse concert on DVD, and originally bought it just for this song, but the whole concert is a spiritual level experience. The live version also has an extended final solo, complete with an epic light show (which they were famous for).
This song doesn't age-at all. It just Doesn't get old. Always seems to fit. I fell in love with this song back in the 90s. Back when people stood a chance to get through and rise above the hard times. I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
Pink Floyd is an experience. The best concert I've ever been to. David Gilmour is one of the best guitarists, ever. IMHO. I'm 70 years old & PF is one of my favorite bands, still.
David Gilmour's guitar work there - and the second best thing he ever did (n my opinion) is little-known to Pink Floyd fans. He provided solo guitar to Warren Zevon's "Run Straight Down" from the environmental concept album Transverse City. There's a video on UA-cam and it's ace. Plus it's Warren Zevon so, you know, great anyway.
The pulse live is face melting mind bending performnce bordering on a religious experience. Not kidding. Open up to the floyd on your own time. Deep lyrics about real humanity real thought
hello dear!!! ahh, yes, you can get a contact high off this stuff!! let me tell you a story...... i smile so big at the memories this song brings up. comfortably numb has been my happy place for decades, 72yo now, always self medicating mental illness. and this is a great fave to sing. thanks for the fun, cliff!!!!!!!!!! kathleen 🙃
Woooooo!! My first favourite band!!! Thanks for checking out this song!! The entire album The Wall is a story. Like, a rock opera. I used to play the entire 2 records each morning before high school!! Lol!!
Thanks brother! Pink Floyd is like no other band. I have been a Floydian for 53 years and I listen to then every day, because they calm my soul. They will take you on a journey.
Pink Floyd will be remembered alongside other composers and artists, they will always be genius and relevant. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. Eternal.
Pink Floyd is arguably one of the greatest bands that's ever been, and they've influenced artists of every genre of music. I hope you keep reacting to their music, and don't be put off by the length of some of their songs, each one leaves you wanting more. Echoes is a 23 minute masterpiece. Pink Floyd affects me like no other music ever has and I can't say enough about them so I'm going to stop here. 💗🤘🏽🖖🏽
Love the wall album, it was fantastic live, mind blowing, you can’t beat the original line up playing this song. There are two more versions to check out. Pink Floyd at live8, where they reunited for a one of performance, the other 20011 Roger Walters wall tour at the 02 london. This is how the song should be played, just like the first time I witnessed at earl’s court London.
It's funny how many places this song can take me. Latest was 2017 on midsummer eve, driving from southern Finland to 1000km up north with a friend of mine from UK. Bit over halfway point. Maybe the only "roadtrip" I've ever done. Usually I just drive that on one sitting. But that time had no rush in any way, shape or form.
Man you really need to see the pulse version of this, David Gilmour made his guitar talk directly to the hearts of the audience that day its a masterpiece
The song is about Roger ( bass player) having a bout of pain before a show, went to the dr. And got a shot which left him comfortably numb. The conversation is between Dr. And Roger who is numbed out and couldn’t feel his hands. The audience didn’t notice and it was a great show!
Amazing song. All about a musician lost in the madness in his own head, being medicated just enough to get him out there to perform. Done so beautifully. The Dr telling him hey the pain is gone, receding like a ships smoke on the horizon. The musician replying saying man this feels like this one time when I was a kid and super sick with a fever and felt disassociated. My hands felt like balloons.
Yes Cliff!! Bravo, you have found the Floyd!! And hell yeah, you have a smoke and put the album on from start to finish. It’s always a trip. They take you to another dimension! 😉😉👏🏼👏🏼💜
If you have not reacted to Home Free man of constant sorrow, please do and it is really good. They’re amazing singers and I think you’re gonna like it. They have interesting voices.
@simontemplar3359 - you could not be more wrong. Roger's a brilliant lyricist and conceptualist, but David, Richard, and Nick are just as integral to Pink Floyd as Roger was. Each brings special elements the others don't.

Pratt is "covering" for Waters on bass and in a few vocals (e.g. Run Like Hell), but he's been doing that since 1986 and does Money, One of These Days, Echoes etc just as well as Waters.
By 1979, the members of Pink Floyd were all in self-imposed exile and were living in various different countries. This was due to the British taxman; Dark Side Of The Moon had made them millionaires. Thus, The Wall was recorded in multiple studios in multiple countries, yet the continuity from song to song is nothing short of fkng remarkable. Awesome to see Pink Floyd. My Dad loved them and I picked that up from him. Would love to see you do the entire The Wall album. It’s a concept album about the metaphorical walls we build around ourselves over the years and the mental breakdown that comes from the self-imposed isolation. I think you’d appreciate it. Yep. Took the words out of my mouth. 👍
My favorite song off mybfavorite album. Its a double album. That all go together
Pink Floyd is so good at making you feel high as hell and never touched a drug.
Pink Floyd is unique like Tool, nobody can duplicate the way they make you feel
The orchestral parts in this song (especially the strings) I find to be incredibly moving, especially at the 'Child has grown the dream has gone' bit.
