  • If you don't know exactly what morphs are in your snake, it can be difficult to figure out, but there are ways to do it. Today I'm going to give you a few different ways that can help you figure out what your ball python is - or any snake for that matter.
    We're going to do this while I reveal my newest 6-morph combo Freeway & Super Asphalt ball python clutch. I'm getting help from Dave at Muscle Serpents University and Jon at Jon's Jungle for this clutch ID. If you like information combined with cute baby snakes, this is the video for you.

    Ron and Delilah made some CUUUUUUUUTE babies!!! It's always super cool to see how genes, in various random combos can result in babies that all look so drastically different from each of their siblings. if I didn't know, I wouldn't guess that some of those even have the same parents.

    🤣🤣🤣 How's THIS for irony: you can't call me a 100% morph whiz because I DIDN'T REMEMBER Delilah possibly had orange dream in her when you invited me to the Green Room to prove my know-it-all abilities! 😣😭 And the possibility of orange dream in her was definitely mentioned in at least two videos before I appeared on your channel. I won't forget again though, because I'm getting her sweet little baby with some of the same genetic question marks!! I can't wait to welcome her home!! 😍🤩😍

      @@GreenRoomPythons Getting there. The baby BPs are cute as anything but I wasn't so sure about the massive rat snake I was confronted with when I walked round the corner in the reptile shop. To be fair he was standing up (can snakes stand?!) and waving himself around at the glass at the time so that was a bit intimidating; The Inspector is definitely cuter when he does it.

    A fascinating episode - well worth watching several times. We are far from being morph experts, but the variety shown in this clutch is awesome, and it was fun to see the effects of the different morphs and to apply them to our snakes. Hi Bob and of course Kent. I am a new ball python owner. I have been setting up a bio active terrarium starting in the beginning of November. I used a lot of ideas from the inspectors set up including a subterranean warm hide. I finally decided that my set up was perfect, so I picked up baby albino from my local reptile shop February 3rd . I have watch almost all of your videos looking for answers to all my questions and I have found almost all of them. I fed my snake a little rat pup a couple of days ago, and I still haven’t seen seen him hang out in the warm hide for more than a couple minutes at night. He has only really been hanging out on the cold side and he has even dug his own little hid under his cold hide. Is that okay? Also i haven’t seen him drinking any water? The first two nights he was climbing all over the branches and sniffing the water but no drinking. I changed the water, but it just looks like he hasn’t touched it because it was so clean. I know you are busy but I would love a reply. Thank you Bob and Kent! You guys are the best, love all your videos!

    • @GreenRoomPythons
      @GreenRoomPythons  Рік тому +2

      Congrats on your new snake. They'll hang out at whatever temperature they're comfortable in. The cold side is totally fine. You will rarely see your snake drink water. Some ball pythons rarely drink water and get their fluid from the food that they eat. Some will drink but you won't catch it very often. Sounds like your snake is doing well.

    • @jamesonhunter260
      @jamesonhunter260 Рік тому +2

      Yeah I am really happy to finally have one, my daughter named him Wensleydale. She really likes Wallace and Gromit, she thought it fits perfect because of the white and yellow color. I have been dying to get one sense November but I am a perfectionist and could not buy one if I didn’t have an amazing set up. All the credit goes to you and your great videos. Also I know that the inspector has room in his substrate to burrow and dig. Has the inspector ever dug a hole that you couldn’t get him out of? That’s what Wensleydale is kinda doing right now 😮. It’s been 3 days sense he ate so I wanted to handle him. He was maybe halfway out but still Under his hide, I lifted his hide and reached in from behind like you recommend and softly grabbed the closest to the middle I could,but he just retreated back under. And He has dug under this log and in between a plant so he is really wedged under there. Unless he comes 80% out of his burrow he can just pull himself back under there. Thought? Or any tips that I could try? But I’m guessing just patience?

    • @GreenRoomPythons
      @GreenRoomPythons  Рік тому +1

      Wild type ball pythons are extremely variable so a lot of times people think that they have something else in their normal ball python when it's often just a really pretty normal. You might find something that looks like your snake though as you research different morphs.

    We took in a “super pastel het sunset” as a favor (honestly didn’t care about the genes) and my wife noticed he periscopes more than normal. We have 2 spider combos one with orientation issues and another with gazing. So she went on FB to get a second opinion and immediately her post was taken down for saying the words spider wobble. Then she was able to repost asking about poss spider complex and someone immediately ripped her apart saying “spider isn’t a complex” then it just turned into an allelic argument. Just pure nonsense.

    Can someone explain why "morph" is the correct term as opposed to "gene"? Isn't a "morph" the result of a "gene"? Or is it that a "morph" can contain multiple "genes" so using the term "gene"- as in a single gene isn't the correct terminology? Maybe I am overthinking this...

    • @missdee153
      @missdee153 8 місяців тому

      Also.... I am curious about she'd testing. Is the DNA found in sheds used to determine genetics in the same way those human DNA companies work? They use similarities of knowns to help determine genetics, right? Is she'd testing still in the development phase? Should people contribute to help that development or is there potentially a better way to come?

    • @GreenRoomPythons
      @GreenRoomPythons  8 місяців тому

      A gene or a series of genes are what creates a morph. The "morph" Is the phenotypic result - the change in color and pattern that we see... Shed testing is still in development but there are many morphs that can be tested for at this point.

I only knew Dave for working out I didn't know that he owned snakes or took care of snakes but I ordered from another company and they literally didn't mail it to me and then said that they did and I was freaking out like where was it and then they just refunded my money Then I realized that Dave actually dose this for a living I somehow found his other channel even though I didn't know he did that I only watched his bodybuilding stuff
