@@TheContentReview no problem, I’d encourage you to check out Dijons latest album “absolutely” a lot of Mk.gee influence. Also- take a listen to 2hollis, another great underrated artist.
not a new genre but a throwback to Phil collins and The Police. The sounds he is using are pretty distinct for the 80s, lots of chorus + reverb + flange on everything. It's good to see people take that sound seriously and not meme it.
i think the purpose of this live performance/visualizer is to set the stage for the story he's trying to tell with Two Star & The Dream Police. i think it's like a concept album, kinda like Dark Side of the Moon, where there is a central theme or thematic element (for Mk.gee, i think it's something to do with dream states and/or being in a dreamlike haze due to love or love problems and being surrounded by people who neither recognize nor care that you're going through something alone on a bus) that connects the songs together in some way. at least that's my take on it. been following this album for the last two years but its all speculation, i just know Mike really likes the idea of alter-egos, dream states and the like
@@sam_rowanreal shit I think a lot of it production wise has to with the fact that dijon and him created both their albums in terrible rooms which in a lot of music now they actively try to do everything to avoid that
80% of the new album is gold, real chill vibes thay ive never really been that into as a metalhhead. But it really falls off in the final 1/4, just kinda drones on without the hooks and clever little bits thatw were in the first 8 songs or so
That’s already a well established thing lol. Mkgee is just a unique artist that blends a lot of influences and styles, and jazz is not very high on that list
The rating system considers not just the song but the video as well, where the dream police video falls short by comparison is in the “concept” ranking. They are both fantastic though, and of course, this is just my opinion! Thanks for watching :)
Guy playing the guitar’s name is Andrew Aged. He’s in a duo group with his brother Daniel aged called “ Inc. “ as well as ‘ Inc no world “
Very cool! Thank you :)

OMFG i just found Mk.Gee a few weeks ago and it reminded me of INC

Great point! Thanks for watching :)
Don’t forget Prince!
i’m all here for him and dijon going mainstream , they deserve it
For sure! Thanks for watching :)
definitely a newer genre, or maybe just he's carving out his own space within the experiment r&b scene

@@jctee. This is a great take all around. I had the same perspective while watching/listening.
@@jctee. very insightful comment! Love the take and you may just be right… thanks for watching :)
lovely interpretation
@@jctee.
@@jctee. I think this video may also lead into a short film type video like he and Dijon had for Absolutely (might be a stretch though)
this is like Tarzan music sound. new Phil collins
Exactly a post modern phill Collins
He truly has made a new genre , it’s absolutely fucked and I love it
Sonically, it reminds me of Arthur Russell a lil bit
could def hear that, almost a “love comes back” vibe~
Totally, Phil Collins meets Arthur Russell in a contemporary blend.
Thanks for watching :)
His playing reminds me of Blake Mills off the “Heigh Ho” album. A lot of intimate playing with explosive dynamics
Great video you made here man, I stumbled across this about an hour ago, I do love his vibe and the video, very cool !!!
Thank you! Glad you liked it and thanks for watching :)
nothing new...its literally alternative. its beautiful, but nothing new. Lot of shit from the 80s had this vibe. Mk.Gee is def one of my favs.
i agree

This man is a genius and more ppl need to know about him

Post modern Phill collins

this guy gets it lmao
Hahahaha, I hope so! Thanks for watching :)
His new (almost) album reminds me of the works of Steve Perry and Christopher Cross with a modern take
Strongly agree. He's pulling lots of harmonies and grooves from the 80s but avoids making it sound cliche.
So true! Thank you for watching :)
i feel like this will be electric jazz
That’s already a well established thing lol. Mkgee is just a unique artist that blends a lot of influences and styles, and jazz is not very high on that list
also just my opinion but rating Troye Sivan's latest release a 37 but mk.gee 31 seems preposterous

Metheny vibes
Get blade runner more than fight club vibes
Great point, the trench coat really sells it. Thanks for watching!
