I think the GoPro photo mode is good if you like attach it on the side of an airplane when change settings and take pictures w/ the GoPro app but using this instead of a mirrorless, DSLR, or smartphone w/ a better camera while on the ground walking around is dumb. It's also good if you are packing light and snap a pic on top of something like Mount Everest in the day time.
You can shoot in raw and you can do to 16:9 ratio during the edit. While taking the photo try to make the focal point to exact center of the picture. 16:9 ratio will be perfect on edit

No idea. You should be getting much better results in photo mode especially when shooting in Raw. While grabs in 5k now give you enough pixel to work with I doubt it’s giving you better results.
Shooting in RAW seems to force wide lens setting. Does this mean they expect us to remove fisheye effect in post? If so, how? Is this something Adobe Lightroom does automatically?

possibly in RAW, but not sure this is what the GoPro is made for.
