The main downfall of a single hose unit is that they also create a negative pressure in the house which pulls in hot air everywhere, wildly inefficient. Only really good for spot cooling.
Dual hose models are really the only way to go.
    Great review as usual!

Given the focus and content of your channel, I am surprised that you didn't reference energy consumption of this unit at all. How long will the very biggest power stations (e.g. delta pro), with the max complement of solar, run this device in 'typical' usage? Can I run it, say, 3 hours a day?

      Excellent Qs!

I'd intended to mention in the video (but somehow forgot to circle back on that) that this is definitely not the kind of device you'd typically want to run off battery/solar system since there are definitely more energy efficient options out there. Accordingly, I didn't really bother doing an extended power consumption test, but perhaps I can set that up and report back.

Ok so....hold onto your hat! So, on a typical startup and run for several hours in a moderately warm room, it consumed an average of about 950W per hour. So, to run this kind of AC for 3 hours, you're going to need somewhere around 3500Wh of capacity (give or take, depending on how cool you want it and how hot the room it to sart)! Yeah...like I said...not the kind of appliance you'd typically want to run off battery. :P

Always good seeing other products reviewed. Side note, when going with any kind of window based AC unit, keep in mind that (most) windows with AC units installed, are no longer secure and make very easy access points for thieves, especially if one does not have a whole house security system. Over the years, I've found that a simple wooden dowel, cut to the appropriate length (and "sticky-taped" in place on the top end) is all that's needed to re-secure the window.

I’m on my second Newair duel hose ac/heater….I cannot get the heat function to work. It continuously blows hot air. I’ve spoken to customer service at length, but with no resolve. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong. I have a bonus room very similar to you…cold in the winter, hot in the summer. Thank you!

Our 2nd floor heat pump was out for 4 days. The portable air conditioner was perfect in our bedroom. In case of power outage, less watts on portable generator to make the bedroom comfortable.

You might try pinching up wall registers that are closer to your furnace, so more air will be pushed to farther parts of the house?

Helllp! I loved your review! I’m trying to install a similar new air 12000 air conditioner heater. I must have a smaller window, about 70 meters, as the sliding window mount does not expand enough for both holes. Any suggestions? Also, if I just want to use the heating option, do I need to use the exhaust tubes? Thank you so much!

Maybe you could trim the slider piece without the holes so it doesn't obstruct the hose ports while still covering the width of your window opening? I don't believe you need to use hoses when using it in heating mode.
