You can only do dendro on the spruce top; but - you can match the curl of the maple back to related instruments. This instrument sounds too subdued for the concert hall, unless it can be adjusted, but I don't think there would be much improvement. I just heard (on YT) a copy of the King Joseph that sounds amazing. I wish I were in the market for a fiddle, because it would be that one. There was also a mass market violin that a young man played on YT that had as much voice and sound quality as any great violin I've ever heard. I wish I could find that vid again.
Had either of you read Frankenstein-which, clearly, you have not-you would have known that Frankenstein is not the monster but the maker; or in your analogies: not the violin but Mr. Reuning. (Musicians and literature... Oye.)
Bravo!
He would sound great on a carton box fiddle and dental floss strings
Fritz Kreisler started on a cigar box strung with shoestrings.
@@robotnik77 I’m reading your comment, while my son is practicing Kreisler in the next room.
Whats the name of the work Alex plays at the end? (It sounds amazing BTW!)
Largo movement from the Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas

Interesting point. Yes, the dendrochronology is…complicated!
A guarneri scroll + strad top and botton? Oh my...
What's the name of it?
This one gets good publicity, but I think the Greiner sounds better, at least from the times I’ve heard him

🤣
I always love the sound of his German violin , so I doubt about this instrument would be a wise choice 😮😅, best luck to him
Yeah, we all know that. 🙂
Fiddles? Bad title.
The title is obviously in jest. You must be fun at parties
