    I agree with your comment about taking the FE right after graduation. It is easy to pass when the knowledge is still fresh in your mind. In my case, I took it a year after graduation and got my EIT (engineer-in-training) certification. However, my career took off in a different direction that did not require professional certification, and never had the chance to work under a PE. Yet, I think it is a good idea to take the FE anyway; it doesn't hurt, and you never know if in the future the opportunity may present to work in one of those regulated industries, like chemical plant design or environmental engineering.

    Thanks for the advice. I’m starting my junior year and was wondering if I needed to start preparing for the FE exam and if it was required to start working. Keep up the amazing content for future newbie chemical engineers like myself!

      I took the FE 1 year after graduating. I never studied and still passed. I’m studying for the PE right now.

    As a chemical engineer in the US working primarily in pharmaceuticals and medical devices I have yet to come across a ChemE PE which has stopped me from being able to acquire a PE. Feel as though the ChemE PE has been shrinking due to the apprenticeship requirement

      Yeah I agree, there's really not always many options for it. Though it depends on the state/ industry. Especially in the pharma industry I don't think it's very common at all.

    Im not sure if you guys have chartership through the IChemE. That's what most people go for here in the UK!

    Do you think a Machine Learning certificate would be useful as a ChemE?

    • @EggsEngineering
      @EggsEngineering  3 роки тому +3

      It really depends on what you want to get into... Most chemEs working on a plant won't have data that's clear or abundant enough to utilize ML, but everyday it seems that there's a new company trying to bring AI/ ML to the chemical industry and it's implications are growing quickly. So yeah there can be a lot of overlap, but not too many clear career-pathways for chemEs using ML. Something like electrical engineering or computer science are similar, but have more overlap with chemE and would open up a lot more doors in the industry right now. Either way, not a bad idea to pick up some cert in the IT/ electrical/ computers/ ML side of things, simply to diversify yourself.

    Well, I'm from Azerbaijan and I'm the last year BEng Chemical Engineer. To be honest, I have never heard about this license. Maybe this is the fact that it is not necessary in my country🤔

    • @EggsEngineering
      @EggsEngineering  3 роки тому +1

      Oh cool, its interesting to find out how other countries do things. Good luck on your last year! Do ChemEs in Azerbaijan normally get jobs after the BE, or do they pursue a masters degree?

    • @sunayhasanov99
      @sunayhasanov99 3 роки тому

      @@EggsEngineering Sorry for late answer. I havent seen your comment. Those who have BE can find job in Azerbaijan. Lots of my friends work as chemical/process engineers. In terms of master degree, to be honest, it does not contribute much to your knowledge. That is why, who want to do master look for foreign countries including me😄

    In the US, does earning a six sigma certificate increase employability right after a bachelor's in ChemE?

    • @EggsEngineering
      @EggsEngineering  3 роки тому +1

      It's not normally a requirement for early career, but it might help when applying for process engineering and production based jobs. As with any cert, it's best when paired with some experience rather than standing alone.

    Hi, I am from India, although I have heard about this license I think it's not important here.

      Right In India we have to give GATE Exam and I myself having All India Rank 98 in Chemical Engineering ☺️🙂🤗
      Note: it is not necessary to clear GATE , but if you have good GATE Score it certainly reflects that YOU ARE A GOOD ENGINEER WITH GREAT KNOWLEDGE 😍

    I studied microbiology at undergraduate and did my postgraduate in process engineering in order to change career... Please, what's your recommendation between choosing to write an FE or PE or both.

    • @EggsEngineering
      @EggsEngineering  3 роки тому

      Are you asking which test to take? FE comes before PE. Do the FE, then once you get your first job you can get the PE.

    • @gbolahanadegoke9881
      @gbolahanadegoke9881 3 роки тому

      @@EggsEngineering So, as someone changing career path, I should take the FE, then PE. Because, I 've been a Quality Assurance personnel for 10yrs unfulfilled but want to change to mainstream engineering. I 've BSc(microbiology) & MSc(process engineering).

    • @EggsEngineering
      @EggsEngineering  3 роки тому

      @@gbolahanadegoke9881 You may already be qualified for a process engineering job with that masters degree. Maybe you should try to take on more process-related work at your job. Some companies don't have a lot of mobility though and you might want to look at applying for a process engineering job at another company if it's something you really want to do. The FE/PE can help, but maybe you should focus on finding a new opportunity first.
