I want a Silver Surfer game like this
Oh dear god I have almost forgotten what it felt like to be excited for a space sim. This looks promising despite its issues.
Ever space 2 is quite good
@@johnwrath3612 I keep hearing about Ever Space but I'm still not sure its my thing. I have never really been a space sim guy.
@@xavierabii548 It's not hardcore, similar to Freelancer, but I'd say even a bit "lighter". But very fun and much better than this even in early access.
@@L0vac Oh nice. I'll check it out once I'm done with my insane backlog lol.
@@xavierabii548 it’s not a space sim. It’s arcade space game and it’s fun. Ever space 2 is still in early access but sometime 2023 we will see a release.
Can’t believe I slept on this when it came out, this game actually slaps
This feels aesthetically inspired by Brandon Sanderson's "Skyward" books.
I knew it sounded quite familiar!
@@Todiros it looks quite different, but there are some very similar ideas... Pilot with magic powers... AI starfighter.
I just read the new book, so i have Skyward on the mind 🙃
@@thomasbonatti9341 I read the first one a while ago so I realized it only when you mentioned it. Now I want to read the rest. xD
@@Todiros you should, they're good 🙂
The third book just came out a couple weeks ago
I'm glad someone said this! It's kind of why I've been looking at getting the game, because I love those books!
Played the demo earlier today and loved it! The music is great, the combat is very fast-paced and satisfying, the world-building / premise of the story is interesting, and I really like the dynamic between Nara and Forsaken. Definitely gonna pick this one up soon. Thanks for the review!
Imagine if a game could combine the ship combat of this game with the foot combat of Mass Effect into one game. That shit would be a game for the ages.
Damn this looks really fun! Had and itch to play a game like this, looking forward to the full release. Thanks for reviewing it :D
These are the kind of reviews that I want. Short and describing. Thank you!
As for the game: Seems good. Might wait for a patch or two before I jump in on it.
Yes....short & descriptive reviews are much preferred.
Reminds me of EVERSPACE... I'll check it out :D
Does the blocky space-goop still screech at you like in the video release a few days ago of mission vertical slice?
I've had my eye on this one, glad to hear the gameplay's good even if the story isn't.
The story is good.
@@jeremyp4768 it has a lot of up and downs. I feel 0 connection to the characters other than the ship 😅
Tbh I never really care for stories in games, I jsut love dynamic gameplay and visuals
Close to finishing the campaign after stumbling upon the game by pure chance. This was one of those moments I'm glad I stopped to check what I tripped on.
Personally I love this game. The combat is so enjoyable.
If possible, can you state which system you played the game on? It is not uncommon for a game to perform differently on different platforms. So for people who have the option to choose which device to play it on (I wish I did), they would know which one to get if you say a game has 0 bugs when say played it on ps5 or kept crashing when played on Xbox.
I played on PC via Steam
You can assume with our reviews that 99.9% of the time we reviewed on PC, just as a heads up.
@@theescapist My man is a logical human being!
I love the music at the starting screen of the game. sounds like Kenya girls singing.
The gameplay reminds me of that era of arcadey 3D shmups from the mid to late 90s. Terminal Velocity, Warhawk (PS1), Gunmetal, etc.
Game is great, if only they could make a Star Wars game like this, open world X wing.
Nice review, wasn’t seeing coverage of this! Been looking forward to it since I saw it on an Xbox stream.
This genuinely looks fun, thank you.
There was some 1st person footage that may have just been a cutscene but I wouldn’t know because this is the third review that doesn’t mention if it’s all 3rd person or if there’s 1st person as well.
There is no 1st person view.
A GamePass game if ever I saw one - and I don’t mean that in bad way because I think it looks pretty good, it’s just probably the game’s best chance at success. Hope they fix that bug as well
I bought it and I like it.
sooo the real question is should i buy this or everspace 2??
Sounds promising. Going to check out the Steam demo this weekend.
There ain’t no way this dude said the score doesn’t stand out 😭😭😭
Story being melodramatic is the games only real flaw. Just finished it on Hard and completing all the side quests took me about 20 hours. Huge game, super fun and beautiful. Can't think of a modern space action game that is better than this. These guys should be given a rogue squadron game.
Looks neat
Informative review, I might get this one.
I have Everspace 2........How does this compare to that?
it has been too long since I have played a game like this and I kind of miss it I'm going to have to try this game out
I'm like 4 seconds in and I already love the way this game looks
I've been playing it for about 20 minutes, and I'm already glad I bought it. The game looks, plays, and sounds fantastic bro. Dope music score. Really slick sci fi space environments. If the whole game is as solid as it seems to be so far, this would be the sleeper hit of the year for me..
Reply value?
I might check this out tonight. I want to dogfight in space.
So wait for a patch, skip cutscenes and it's amazing?
The cutscenes are fine. The story is good. The game is very narrative-heavy. This reviewers opinion is subjective.
I can see a sprinkle of Galaxy on Fire in here. I didnt know Fishlabs had made a full fledged game outside of mobile games. Im getting this as soon as i get a paycheck in. Shame they forgot about GoF cant be bothered to fix the supernova DLC on an otherwise flawless still to the day a great looking, playing game.
cool review
RIP Stadia
I picked up this game this weekend, I'm not sure if is patched but on PS5 it plays like a charm so far, I'm on the area after the 1st Faceless boss, this game is very similar to EverSpace 1, I'm waiting for EverSpace 2 to be fully finished, I don't like to spoil myself with early access, EverSpace 1 has more variety but not inner powers like Nara, but it is still a good game, EverSpace ambient music though is much better than this game.
Seems like a fun game
Stadia still exists?
Yeah it’s great even though i’m it’s only user haha
Once you get the hang of this game you'll realize it's a classic.
I need to purchase a flight stick to play this game the right way!
Do you ever get out your ship in this game?
Only in cutscenes.
Game looks great, artstyle is nice, optimization is top notch, and the combat is fun. Although I feel the depth is not extremely high, and the story is quite bad. Overall still a great experience.
Looks really cool. They need to fix the bugs and then it's a buy for me.
That bug was fixed, none of the other reviewers mentioned it.
@@virtualnk5825 how do you know it was fixed?
@@positivevibesrfc Because I played the game since release and didn't have that issue.
@@virtualnk5825 Well that is good. I will wait for a while after release and see if anyone else moans about it. If it isn't there then I will get it.
If you're thinking about buying this game do it
That constant whispering reminds me of the creepy dementia patient in the White House
CHROUS!
12 hours ….? Any replay value ?
I've already had more than 12 hours so idk...
Freelancer vibes here 👍
That camera glitch is a dealbreaker. If I have to fight bugs like that then I stop playing. There's several games I own that had full crash to desktop bugs at launch that while probably fixed now, killed my momentum at the time so I stopped and I haven't gone back to pick them back up.
Never encountered that bug.
@@jeremyp4768 me either
Am I the only one having trouble seeing the enemies?
So here is what I do not understand about the "sentient ship" thing: What is the point of a pilot, with a ship like this? I mean, a human can make much more calculation and manouvering mistakes than a computer would. If the ship would just drive itself, it would be much more sufficient, with much less chance of a deathly mistake. Humans may be required, to give a goal to a machine but they could just give them orders from a remote location. THere is no point in putting a weak link into a mechanism that is a sentient computerized weapon.
Gameplay > Story
it's always surprising when devs actually release a game for stadia.
You crazy
Stadia has fallen.
Chorvs
So basically wait for everspace 2 is what your saying.
Thank you for the review, KC!
Those bugs sound nearly game-breaking.
Never encountered any of these bugs.
How come I never heard of this game?!
If you don't know the answer, nobody else will.
Pretty accurate summary; Awful writing, but compelling gameplay.
... Story is good I mean she destroyed a Planet full of life in war for me it is already big deal, how person who developed Planet is feeling ? I'm playing on PS5 smoothly
Nice to see a review mention Stadia as a platform if it is. The sheer stubbornness to acknowledge Stadia from the majority of outlets over the last 2 years has been frustrating.
Do you have a man-bun?
@@covidberserker7051 Are man-buns synonymous with Stadia?
How'd this feedback age?
Lmfao.... About that.... 😂
How is stadia 😂
How can such a little ship destroy a planet? Lol.
It's was not a ship, it was a bunch of space wizards :)
So wait a couple of patch and we have a very good game, ok i'll keep my ps5 copy near.
Woah, seriously?! I really wanted this until I heard the price. That's a bit much for this kinda game. Unless it has as much content as a Hollow Knight. Which I doubt.
Google Stadia is still a thing 😆
I'm not bothered to much about stories in games ;) Usually skip them if possible.
everything looks great except for Nara's facial animations. she has "dead" eyes.
My face is tired.
I mean she is a guilt-ridden spacecult-mage that killed an entire planet...
So bad story good gameplay. In a space shooter , ill take it.
I liked the story a lot. Give it a chance. If it's not for you, skip cutscenes.
Amazing game but please fire the writer
I was looking forward to this until I seen it was deep silver...their games are always buggy af with horrible frame rates
Haven't had either issue
Such a bad game
Looks ridiculously fun, I'm just not looking to spend $40 on a game that you could beat in 1-2 days.
They desperately wanted to create a memorable female lead who saves the universe. They failed though. They could have but they tried way too hard, the writing sucks. It just screams "look at us we are so progressive", which is sad because i love a good female lead, this just isnt it. The game it self tho, really good
I’ll be honest her backstory and delivery just sounds like Iden Versio from EA’s battlefront 2. Former evil super soldier with a sentient robot companion who joins the fledgling rebel cause after destroying all life on a planet.
desperately?
Is it progressive becaue she has short hair? XD
12 hour game is what's still keeping me from buy this. I hate short games, and I especially hate paying more than a dollar an hour.
Review in one word: good.
