    I heard Philly offered Cutter Gauthier for Montreal's pick 5 and that the Flyers wanted to take Reinbacher at 5 before Arizona did at 6 then the Flyers would of used their own pick at 7 so Flyers would of got both Reinbacher and Michkov. But Montreal wanted Reinbacher and rejected the trade offer for Cutter Gauthier.

    Rumour has it Mitchkov wanted to be drafted by Philadelphia. So Montreal taking him with his contract uncertainty and possible unwillingness to play in Montreal was too great of a risk.

      Philadelphia told him that they would build the team around him.That's why he wanted philadelphia. I for one am looking forward to the day.He makes it to north america only for the psychological perspective. It never ceases to amaze me when ego gets in the way of talent. Understanding a player's mind set and how it may affect your team is something that should see more emphasis in future years. Philadelphia needs to understand that sooner rather than later after the Cutter incident. Montreal looks like they have got it figured out.

      He refused to go to a few teams, momtreal wasnt one of them. Montreal wasn't interested in him due to issues with his personality more then him and russia and the suspect issies surrounding that. They are trying to build a team culture invloving salary cap and character that he didn't fit into. So while he didn't refuse Montreal, the fact that he refused other teams combined with ego issues were enough to not want anything to do with him. Demidov seems much different

    I said it after the selection. I wanted the habs to take Michkov, but that I understood the Reinbacher pick and that our defence is going to be great in 2-3 years. I can now see the gapping hole at RD and while they might be able to fill it with someone from this draft, I’m not certain there would be “that” player. Reinbacher is projected as top pairing D and that doesn’t come around often! Keep up the good work Kent!

    that makes no sense. there's no garrantee Michkov would have been available at no7. that's quite the risk for a 3rd round pick. IMO the price to go from 7 to 5 is another first round pick...not a 3rd round. Just look at the price paid (2nd round pick) just to move 2 spots late in the first round. Moving positions in the top 10 is VERY EXPENSIVE which is why we rarely see it happen.

    Depending on who we pick this year it could be yes or no. Like if Demidov slips and we can get him, I say no to the proposed trade. If we get levshunov, I say yes to the trade. So right now, before the dfraft, I say no.

    I think there is a none 0 chance that in a 6 years this has the potential to become, similar to KK, and similar to PLD, a we dodged a bullet by not taking Michkov situation. Maybe not. But who would you rather? Will Smith or Michkov? Because the Habs aren't the only team that passed on him. There is more to a player than talent. And there are rumor's and more about red flags regarding this player. "Fail for Nail" was a thing. People would have killed to have their team draft Nail Yakupov at the time. Hindsight is 20/20. Just food for though, you know? Every player is different, every story is different. We simply don't know what Michkov will be in 6 years.

  • @SURVIVORkid23
    @SURVIVORkid23 26 днів тому +4

    I think you’re misunderstanding the situation.
    The Flyers wanted to acquire the 5th overall pick from the Habs in exchange for Cutter Gauthier so they could select Reinbacher AND Michkov. They didn’t value Reinbacher more than Michkov, they just knew that no matter what Michkov would be available for them at 7. Michkov was their guy 100%.
    Cutter Gauthier had already made it clear he didn’t want to play for the Flyers so they trade to maximize the value of a disgruntled player & acquire a promising D prospect along with their generational talent.
    Also there are rumours that Michkov had told the Canadiens that he didn’t want to play for them (I’m not sure if I believe them but there are people who make the claim… which if they’re true, you’d think Kent Hughes would share that to soften the blow of fan outrage but whatever) but if that’s true than this whole concept is just kind of ridiculous & framing it in a way that Montreal could’ve traded Reinbacher for Michkov is (I’m sorry) just stupid. Why would they trade a player that they just drafted or were about to draft for a player that they literally STILL COULD HVE DRAFTED?!
    I also don’t buy that the other teams that wanted to trade up wanted David Reinbacher. I think Nashville 100% wanted Michkov too.

    Last year's draft was loaded with great forwards and the stupid Habs took a d-man. Guess what, this year's draft is loaded with amazing d-Men (much better than Reinbacker) and the Habs have already filled up the d-Men slots and desperately need a forward so we will reach and get a less talented forward than the ones available last year. Do you see the giant fail in all of this? This is why, in five years, we will still be a middle of the pack team still struggling to make the playoffs. Meanwhile Mitchkov will be making 100 points per season and will be a regular in the play of the week reel..
