I did the exact same procedure & boy you make it look easy. Never wanting to go through the same thing again I chose to cover the deck with an oil based product which penetrates into the wood & never peels or cracks so I never have to use paint peeler or heavy sanding again, sure I have to apply decking oil more often but it's a lot easier.
I read that to stip a deck you need to use the yellow 15 degree tip. In this video you deck is dirty. Ya the green 45 degree will work but my deck has stain on it that is peeling up and its not coming off with that 45 degree tip it actually is tearing up the wood
It was the exact video I was searching for. It let me know exactly what I need to do to my deck. But damn I paid too much attention to how he pronounces ‘deck’.
The only reason you would do it this way is because of the stainless steel nails. You can’t floor sand them or hit them down enough to floor sand. Moral of the story only use screws that can be countersunk so you can floor sand down the track if needed.
I didn't install the deck, I bought the house with the deck. And a big gazebo on top of the deck. Deck was 2 years old then. I thought many times about ripping it out, but I can't afford to either replace the wood with composite or totally remove the deck and put down stone hardscaping. Just replacing the wood with composite is going to cost over $5000 in just materials, I don't know how much the labor cost is going to be, and I'm also going to have the labor for dismantling and reassembling the gazebo too. It's a mess and I'm basically paying for it yearly with my labor by cleaning and sealing the entire deck. I hate it
This video screams jus sand the deck rent a floor sanding from home depot 80$ for 4hrs go over it with 2 grits of sand paper. wash let dry 48-70hrs and stain
Thanks for the video! At least in the US, to do all that yourself is not that expensive, at least in terms of equipment; the most expensive things will be the pressure washer and sander. To rent a pressure washer will run you about $70 for the day and for a sander about $90; plus you have to get sanding pads and other things for the main equipment but still not too bad. What really gets you is the time! You have to make sure the deck hasn't been rained on or wet for a few days and is completely dry before you start, during the process and for a few days to a week after you finish. It's also a good idea to tarp and tape off as much as you can that is not what you're working on. To do all that, and especially sand, etc will take you awhile, but in terms of cost, it's not that bad. Of course, I mean for materials and equipment it's not that bad. In terms of what is your time worth, that's up to you. It's kind of like painting. The actual painting part isn't too bad. The real time suck is clearing out the room, taping things, removing things, spackling holes, sanding holes, etc. Once you do all that, the painting part is actually pretty fast...

Have a job tomorrow, this helped a lot!!
great detailed video. thanks.
This is an awesome video, thank you so much!
Can your products be bought in the US? Do you have any recomendations if they cant?
Nice job! Do you need to power wash after sanding? Or just blow it off ? Before oiling.
Give it a blow
Is the stain oil base or water base

Noticed that in the first sentence 😂
What do I usually do with my hands when I talk?
Good video, though. Thanks
I keep my deck in good shape. You said "deck", right?
If you've got money you don't need a big deck.
So it just took like 30 hours of work to restore this deck. This is so much work, why do people install decks?!?
30 hrs is not enough

There's a sander you can hire that uses a brush type sander which is safe for nail/ screw heads poking above the timber
Just rent a commercial sander from homedepot. 2hr max!

This video really helped me and inspired me! Thank you😊
Without spending a day sanding.. but spend two days of work. Cost effective on sand paper but who has a power washer sitting around?
yep! rather just spend a day sanding.
You can rent one from me 😂 easily uses it as if you own it
Did he say , deck
I had to chuckle
LOL!

If it ain't spotted, you should head to the clinic.
You long list of equipment are EXPENSIVE.
Thanks for the video!

Did not inspire me. There’s got to be a better way than this.
why not pay a company 100.000$ to do the job it would be much easer.
It costs $2000 and need to do every year
