I totally agree ! Thank you so much, Natasha and have a lovely weekend! Here, in Canada is our Thanksgiving weekend and the Nature is of all the beautiful colours you can imagine 🍁🌾🍂🥀
So refreshing to hear an artist say it take's alot of time to paint pictures.I to take along time to complete paintings mainly due to ilness, many artist work super fast and not everyone can do that when i try to work fast i always make mistakes my brain works slow. Yours is brilliant.
I paint slow too and I am not loose either. I don't even want to be loose though so I'm not fighting it at all. I love watching longer videos but I can make due with a shorter one, lol. I also love acryla gouache but there are few people making videos on it. Between your style and medium I'm chilling and thrilled at the same time.
So lovely to sit down and watch another video where you share creating a painting,I watched it working on my inktober pieces. I love the colours you put together and the final painting captures the autumn seaon so well with a slightly magical air as well. Was the foreground with the bonfire, gold,it looks like it has a sheen to it. It also looks like it could be a page in a picture book. The texture of the trees and bushes though it takes a while really works and adds such depth and richness to the image.I love how you painted the texture of the bark on the tree and the smoke from the fire laeds your eye up into the sky and into the trees as well. This would make a wondeful print. Those liitle round mixing palettes are so usefull I have a couple of sets of these now,I love working with them,I love that can be stacked up to store them,in fact I'm using them for my Inktober pieces and they areperfect for mixing inks in.Your patren sounds really exciting and I am sure it will have many people joining and give you even more of a connection to al of us that love your videos, good luck for the launch of this. It's good to see you enjoying working in your sketchbooks too.The view of of your studio is a really great one and it's great to see it in diffrent weathers etc. Hope you and Domic are both doing okay. (matt)
Hi Matt, thanks! How's your Inktober going? I hope you're enjoying it and finding it inspiring. :) I actually layered some pencil over the top of the paint in the foreground, so that's possibly why it looks like it has a bit of a sheen to it. Dominic and I are doing ok - it's been another hard week and very emotional, which has wiped both of us out a bit. Wishing you and Craig a lovely weekend!
@@NatashaNewtonArt My inktober challenge is going really well, thank you for asking,it's my third year of doing it. I am sorry to hear things are still not good for you and Dominic. 💚 love, the more i saw the progress the more i fell in love with the finished piece. The tree texture though - i wanted to touch it haha! Beautifully done. Take care!
Well that’s lovely Natasha! Found your utube videos and have been catching up with them. Love your style, artwork and your soft voice. I am retired now and a newbie to this whole art journey so am enjoying your videos immensely. I used to live in the UK and lived in among other places a Decimus Burton designed mansion with beautiful views over the Kent countryside, so completely get the peace you must feel when looking out over the estate. Really enjoy seeing the old country through your travel sojourns! All the best from Western Australia, Max.🇦🇺😎🙏
Thanks so much, Max! Kent is so beautiful - we visited Sissinghurst a couple of years ago and driving through the countryside there at the height of summer was magical. Hope you're all ok over there in Australia during these strange times we're living in!
So looking forward to your Patreon, Natasha. But understand needing the time to make it need your needs snd “standards.” Take all the time you need. Good thing is that it can, & probably will be, adjusted once it’s up. Be well. 💗
Thank you for being so understanding! 🤗 It is taking a while to get it ready (longer than anticipated) but I want to make sure it's sustainable each month and full of valuable info and inspiration for you all.
6:26 PERFECT example, Natasha, of what layering looks like and to have the patience to carefully build them up to bring your piece to life! I just LOVEEEEE it! Thank You for sharing all that you! I hope to see some cozy Xmas Art soon, maybe?!?! Hugs, Laura!
Really lovely, Natasha. I've been wondering which one of your paintings I would 'copy' when I finally try acrylic gouache. This autumnal scene is a contender. (No worries, I am not an artist so when I say 'copy', the likely outcome will bear little resemblance to your work.) Thus far, I have not seen anyone else on YT using acrylic gauche in your manner. I am looking forward to your Patreon site. I have never been a Patreon consumer, but I think I will make an exception for you. ❤
Thanks so much, Sharon! No worries, I'm happy for people to use my work as inspiration when they're starting out/practising with new materials etc. Copying other artists is a good way of experimenting, honing your skills, trying different techniques, and basically finding out what works for you and what you enjoy. As long as you're not selling them (which you aren't) I'm very happy for you to do that! :)
Watching you paint for several hours would be an awesome way to spend my time with you. I love the fall and this painting is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. 🤗 Fran

Lovely video and viewing experience. Just what I needed today…. Random question. Do your acrylic gouache paints clean up off your palettes ok? Also, looking forward to your Patreon, but happy to wait as long as needed for your process.
Thanks Vivienne! 🧡 The tip I have for acrylic gouache is to ALWAYS use a ceramic palette or plate! After your painting session you can just soak it in water and the film of paint will lift up (I gather it up with a bit of kitchen paper and put it in the bin, and then I wash the palette). I made the mistake of using a plastic palette with it once - never again! I managed to get it clean in the end, but it involved a lot of soaking and scraping. It stuck to the plastic like glue!
I've been watching a lot of your sketching and swatching, while going through my 'old' art supplies... I'm about to start on the gouache, but I don't think any of mine are acrylic. Can I ask you, what's the difference when you paint with these, compared to other gouaches? These seem very creamy and soft. These are like acrylic in that you can't re-wet them once they're dry, so they're excellent for layering! They can't be combined with watercolour like traditional gouache can. Enjoy your swatching! :)
Do you know of any affordable acrylic gouache paints? Or know if the Windsor newton ones can be layered like acrylic gouache? Thought I’d ask the expert! ☺️ xx
Hi Laura! The only ones I really know of are the Holbein Acryla (expensive - well, in the UK they are!) and the Turner Acryl Gouache, which are less expensive. I like both, but I'm quite new to the Turner version, having used the Holbein for years. W&N gouache is re-wettable so can't be layered in the same way as the acrylic gouache. I hope this helps! xx
