Thanks for your video. I enjoyed it.
I would guess that I have about 100 pens.
I have about 20 Stephen Just pens, about 25 Casey Giddens pens. As you know, they are excellent Australian penmakers. Casey is a master in wood.
The rest of my collection are Hong dian, Jinhao and Majohn. Hong dian are my favourite out of the Chinese brands.
Grail Pens. I have none. I can't justify $1000 plus especially when Stephen and Casey are making fabulous pens.
Most of my "Australian" are in use all the time. I teach classical piano. Luckily I have a lot of students and I use my pens to endorse the piano diaries that I supply. My students are aware of my pens and I try to educate them in the importance of handwriting. The art of elegant handwriting is being lost to a dependence on electronic devices.
    Thanks for the video.

My start with fountain pens was in school at age 11. Tried it then stopped, too much ink over my hands. Didn't try again until university and they found it still was not for me. Fast forward until retirement when I decided to dip my toe into collecting fountain pens and was captivated. But I have to be careful not to get too immersed as I have over 200 ballpoints and rollerballs. I still use them but far less than fountain pens. The closest I have gotten into higher end fountain pens is Esterbrook, Pineider and Leonardo - only one of each brand. Would I like to get a Montblanc or Visconti? Yes, but the wallet doesn't allow that. As for inks, I keep away from shading and shimmer inks as they dry too slow.
My grail pen? Perhaps a Pelikan 1000. I would love to get a Platypus Terracotta Model 10.

Much like you, I buy samples, then small bottles (if available) then big bottles. What I'm finding though, is you can only use so much ink.
There's been a couple of surprises though.
I always have Platinum Carbon Black in a pen, because everyone needs an indelible black even it is a boring colour you don't use normally
Florescent yellow (suggest Daytone yellow) in a piston filler brush pen to use as a highlighter
My favourite ink (the one I usually reach for) is Diamine Imperial Purple. Go figure. I have lots of blue too, so try to use it for cheap pens (eg Preppy) that I eyedropper, and those are EDC pens.
Colours are fun, but the only thing I use many of them on are recipe cards, which I like to write long hand and laminate, so use different colours to highlight things like ingredients. It's easier to mix lots of colours (on the same page) with a glass pen.
The only colours I really struggle with are greens.

I was surprised by the number of pens and inks you own because I’ve thought of you as a user and not a collector. Especially since you seem to gravitate to black pens like I do. I would still watch your channel if you never did another pen or ink review but talked about your writing experiences and what you've learned on this pen journey we are on.

My personal use pens are mostly black or, at best, conservative colours… but after 7 years of reviewing you accumulate a lot of pens. But I want to be more intentional in my pen collection and put the pens I don’t use in the hands of people who might.

There is a degree of convergence that is becoming apparent in the 'custom pen maker' group - just a lot of pen makers churning out simple pens but pushing the swirly acrylics as the defining factor. There are just so many of them these days that there's not much to distinguish one from another.

I agree. It’s become a market for the materials more than the pen designs recently. However, I am currently preparing a review of a pen, a semi-custom pen, from an Australian maker who has build (from the ground up - except the nib) a beautiful pen including a functional, somewhat unique 1.9ml filling system. People like this are keeping the industry interesting

@@theoffstagemeTotally! Especially if they are innovating on designs for pens (including filling systems). Most though are simply producing tubes of swirly plastic, alas.

I have never seen a bona-fide picture of Mr. Robert Oster. He's like the man behind the curtain. Is he a historical figure? Is he currently alive and at pen shows?

Robert Oster… the myth and the legend! All I can say is I love the inks, ‘Robert’ never makes public appearances, but the person I have had contact with for over 7 years (who ever it is) is very nice, generous, and has a great charitable philosophy.

That is the lovely Edison Ascent 'Nocturne' fitted with an Osprey Nibs Architect grind, inked with Iroshizuku Fuyu Syogun. Sadly, I don't think this pen is available anymore. It was an exclusive to Goulet Pens, and has seemed to disappear now.

@@theoffstageme very nice color combo on the acrylic! I hope somebody out there has some more of these pen blanks or can recreate it closely enough 🤞

I am not in, the exploring phase as such I am in the oh this brand is nice - like up until recently I never owned a parker, Faber-Castell or a Pelikan, and now I am exploring within good reasoning.
